Finally caught up and man one of the best show of fiction I've ever seen . Ready for Season 4, go Starks!

So. I've finally made it The Red Wedding.

See you on the other side.

What sort of reasoning was behind this? I'm genuinely curious.

The show writers were going to have Vargo Hoat, who is a foreigner Sellsword with a massive lisp be changed into a Northman in service to the Boltons, with no real elements of Vargo intact beyond the role as the one who cripples Jaime, so GRRM asked them to just go ahead and make him a new character instead of trying to make him something he wasn't.

So, which are the top five storylines are people looking forward to the most this season?

For me it is,

1. Jon Snow: Because I am hoping for a return to form.
2. Jaime: Because the metamorphosis of the lion has been completely compelling.
3. Tyrion: Because he never gets a break.
4. Arya/Hound: Because it will be the best buddy cop film ever.
5. Bran: Because I honestly have no idea how far the will go with it this season.

Jon Snow: I'm looking forward to the burden of leadership. Especially with what seems like a very risky mission, heading up to Crasters.

Bran: Same, though Winter is Comingdotnet said
they've got an actress for Leaf

Stannis: Judging from the trailer, it looks like they're going to make him a bit more villainous, though
I'm hoping that's the point where he ditches the outright fanaticism and is more in line with his book character

Dany: This plot in the books was interesting, but stretched too thin. The show should improve it.

There was a Lord Locke at Winterfell in ADWD.

Well that was heartbreaking.

Please tell me the next episode has a happy ending.

.

1. Stannis: Because it needs the most redemption, and also because they seem to have added quite a bit of new material with him going to Braavos. And Mark Gattiss.

2. Tyrion: Because ELIA MARTELL.

3. Jon: Because of a certain red head.

4. Theon: Because it has the potential to be one of the most powerful storylines of the show.

5. Jaime: Because they've added a whole lot more material of him and Tyrion together.

Yeah, Dany's has a lot of potential this season if they keep it tight. But I fear a season 2 situation where they lose their way for most of the season, and then rip out her most powerful moments.

Yeah, the scenes between Tyrion and Jaime have me very interested. The actors have great chemistry, but haven't had a real chance to play with it. Also nice to see someone else that actually loves and cares for Tyrion.

I suppose they'll need to build up the thing with Tysha a little bit more this season, for the end to have maximum impact.

Well that was heartbreaking.

Actually yeah it does. A very happy ending. I hated the ending to Mhysa until I saw it again on bluray. Its damn uplifting and cinematic. I guess at the time of it airing I was hoping for another epic white walker moment or something of that nature. What we got just seemed cheesy at the time. Having watched it again on bluray I realize that it was the right ending to the season. We the audience needed that moment. That victory and the hope expressed in the scene.

I still hate it. Especially considering the first two seasons ended on the supernatural, and they had the perfect supernatural scene they could have ended season 3 on but didn't.

Haha I remember I was livid. I probably would still be but with season 4 about to start Im much more inclined to forgive the writers for making me wait for LS.

With season 4 on the horizon, I am inclined to forgive most, but not that. People would have lost their crap. Everything they were feeling, everything wanted summed up. Would have been perfect.

It was hoping that Bran would have met Coldhands that Ep, that would have been a decent closer. At least compared to Messiah!Dany

I dont disagree. Gah can you believe how much this season is going to blow people's minds? All the great stuff at the end of SOS and then you add in LS. Holy hell, it sets the bar astronomically high.

GRRM specifically asked them to change Vargo Hoat into Locke. I like this reasoning but don't understand why writers would try to change this, just makes no sense as to why. Do we know why Talisa was created instead of Westerling being used?

5. Bran: Because I honestly have no idea how far the will go with it this season.

1. Jon Snow: I hope they really play up just how intelligent and badass he is.
2. Jaime: His scenes in the latter half of book 3 and this season are some the whole series has.
3. Tyrion: I'm more so excited about the characters surrounding his story than his story altogether.
4. Arya/Hound: I hope they redeem this story because for me it has not been what it was in the books.
5. Bran: Coldhands, nuff said.
6. Sansa: is one character I am dying to see how they will handle with what becomes of her story.
7. Victarion: Please just show up and be wearing your badass helm.

Well that was heartbreaking.

Please tell me the next episode has a happy ending.

It has a stupid ending but i suppose its supposed to be happy.

Im not sure why they created Talissa, but I prefer her to the book character (Jeyne?). Plus I feel a battlefield nurse works better with what the writers were trying to do. Which was give Robb a lot more screen time. Him encountering this foreign nurse who has seen the effects of war and isnt just taking his side that war is right is compelling. Talissa is also a stronger character imo.

I guess they thought it'd be simpler if they just made him into a Bolton instead of explaining the Bloody Mummers. It might also have been done to create a sense of consistency with the idea that the Boltons were the new villains.

Not sure about Talisa.

It is funny because all anyone could talk about going into the adaptation of ASOS was the Red Wedding. Before season 2 even aired, the Red Wedding was the big focus of the fanbase. And while it is an incredibly powerful moment, as far as I am concerned, the most insane, emotional and powerful material in the book is still to come.

Yep! The backhalf of ASOS is where the real meat is at.

As a straight male, it is hard for me to not like Talisa. But I really think they fumbled their relationship in season 2. I understand that idea behind her, and having her [BLACKOUT]die in the Red Wedding[/BLACKOUT] worked. But the season 2 writing could have been so much better.

To avoid the honeypot storyline and so they could [BLACKOUT]kill her[/BLACKOUT].

And yeah, Sansa just missed my list. The most underrated character and actress on the show imo. Also... now legal. :D

I think at the end of the day I felt more sorry for Jeyne Westerling. She got ****ed over so bad.

Speaking of Jeyne and getting ****ed. Can't wait to see what they do with Jeyne Poole.

I think we have already seen our "Jeyne Poole", she just won't be Jeyne Poole, who actually appeared in the first episode of the series.

And I have no sympathy for Jeyne Westerling. All things considered, she was a part of it.

Yeah it won't be Jeyne Poole, the childhood friend of Sansa. That ship sailed long ago. Who do you think the new "Jeyne" is going to be?

Jeyne Westerling was a tool, but she was an unwitting tool. I don't blame her for Robb's idiocy or her mother's schemes with Tywin.
