i just saw that the guy compared Gendry to Kenway.:huh::huh:

it's like comparing Reek with Kratos...... it makes no sense at all

No, he didn't. He compared a future character to Kenway. Someone who hasn't been introduced in the show yet.

I'm still scratching my head at how game of thrones is a popcorn film and assassins creed has deep writing. What? I'm pretty sure that the one that's based on a critically acclaimed series of novels by default has better writing then a video game, and that a video game by default is the one meant to entertain, rather than focus on a story.

Also confused how the guy can call characters week without really providing a basis while thinking the characters from AC are better written because they can defy the odds and be more badass. Like are you arguing strength of character or physical strength?

So much fail.

I'd say Ned is still my all time favorite character from the show. While Tyrian is a close second. Rob is my third.

What makes me not like Ned as much is the way he treated Jaime, no, the guy wasn't a saint, but killing the Mad King is the last think he should be hated for, expecially after what the Kind did to Ned's family and how Jaime pretty much saved the entire city from being burned.

I completely agree. Jamie has a point when he says that Ned would treat him differently if he stabbed the Mad King in the belly rather than the back.

I agree with your reasoning, and thought it odd that he wasn't in some way appreciative of what Jaime had done. However didn't for give Jaime for pushing the stark boy out the window until season 3. Once he lost the hand he used to cripple someone else (in the books he pushed him with his right hand) I considered that his karma lol. Now he's one of my favorites. (Reminds me of sawyer from lost. Arch wise.)

Which honestly he would. I kind of admire that sense of honor though. Misguided or not.

Yeah, i wasn't really talking about his other sins, i'm sure he has many, like when he killed that boy while he was a POW, just the part regarding kingslaying and Ned. Stannis is another one, he himself broke his vows and went against the mad king due to family (he even admits this in ASoS), yet defended that Jaime should have been punished for Kingslaying

eehh... what? he compared Connor Kenway with Gendry

here's the quote:

Also Gendry is boring. Imagine Connor Kenway in his place. He wouldn't care for lame Stannis or stupid red witch. He would tomahawk them in the head and then report to Georges Washington.

pretty much seems a Gendry/Connor comparison to me :yay::yay:

Then again, Jaime sitting on the throne with the Mad King's blood on his hands and expecting a pat on the back from honorable to a fault Ned Stark doesn't come across as very smart either.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Jaime as a character, especially now that I've started reading the books as well and I really enjoy the fact that I hate him on one page and cheer for him on the next. But the "By what right does the wolf judge the lion?" line, cool as it is, always has me going "Really, Jaime?".

good point.

also, i will never understand why he didn't say Ned immediately about Aery's plans to burn the city. or to anyone at all, his father at the very least.

i know all that "do you think the honorable ned would have believed me?" stuff, but, you at least gotta try man.

Haha, yeah. If Ned was honorable to a fault, I think it's definitely fair to say Jaime's arrogant/vain to a fault.

If that person isn't proof that opinions can be wrong I don't know what is!
In lighter news I finally got my season 3 boxset from Amazon, and it's glorious!

Too bad I'm at my dads and he doesn't have a blu-ray player.

Anyone know if the extras are included in digital or dvd copies or do those just contain the show, would check myself but in the middle of a few things, thanks.

The DVDs don't have all of the special features that the blu-rays do (like I don't think they have the In-episode guide) but they do have some, I believe they have the audio commentaries and a couple of the featurettes and some deleted/extended scenes.

I allways loved Stannis's soundtrack

Yeah, I think it captures his brooding majesty pretty well.

I've noticed that with each season the character themes go through a progression of some sort. In Stannis' case, his season 3 theme was the very mournful "The Night is Dark", which worked well in the scenes where he was with his family.

I'm hoping Stannis' plot in Season 3 will move him a bit closer to his book counterpart.

agreed

i hope they add the Davo's speach of how a king must protect his kingdom that they omitted last season. they can make it like while on a ship Stannis having doubts of why they are leaving the main fight and Davos reciting the speech to motivate him not to return to dragonstone

This is the season where they really have to address Stannis' character.

We can't have Stark/Lannister/Targaryen at the forefront for much longer. Pretty soon Greyjoys, Boltons and Tyrells will start to have a greater presence in the war and they'll need to do something to show that.

Why exactly not? Especially when consider the books and what they will probably be adapting next season. The other three groups have had their place, but they are not the leads.

I mean in terms of military presence in the coming conflicts. The other three groups come to the forefront in terms of political and military power in Westeros and serve as the more direct "threat" of the human storyline. Their presence swells whilst the current antagonists fade.

While the antagonist fade, the heroes are pretty much the same. The new antagonist are there to cause problems for the same protagonist.

Thats kinda what I meant, that the way the story is marketed as now, as Stark vs Lannister is gonna change with the deaths of Tywin and Joffrey and be more Lannister vs Tyrell, Baratheon vs Bolton, Targaryen vs common sense, Greyjoy vs everyone. The power dynamic shifts a bit after ASOS, the Lannisters are kind of more like the underdogs going forward.

BIG SPOILERS in that post.
