HBO's Game of Thrones - - - Part 12

A reply without copying the massive spoilers. Seriously, don't read them.

But that doesn't change how prominent the Lannisters are. Tyrion and Jaime afterall are major protagonist, and arguably even more so after. They main characters will stay the same.

What I'm saying is, that they've marketed the show and the War of the five King's around the Stark/Lannister conflict, I don't think it's debatable that that changes (hell it's already changed) so in terms of marketing the thing, they'll have to approach it differently and give more focus on these other factions that are filling the political power vacumn. That doesn't in anyway imply that the likes of Tyrion will get less screen time or less prominence, but it does mean that they'll have to shine some more limelight on these sidelined Houses that have thus far played supporting roles in the war as they move up in the world.

If I had to guess the main focus of marketing will go back to "Winter is coming". Why they like to tease the White Walkers.

Oh so we're not talking in spoilers anymore? :funny:

Personally, I think they'll play on the whole "Identity" theme of ADWD.

Those are spoilers? It has been the theme since the first second of the first episode. :lmao:

You mistake my meaning. A joke at the top based around the fact that we've been posting extended and detailed spoilers for the last few pages. The second was my prediction.

If you look at ADWD it's main theme is characters denying themselves and their own identities. This is most obviously personified by Theon, but is also strongly apparent in most of the other story lines running through that particular book. Jon denies his Stark heritage in the post Red Wedding world and throughout the book choices to think of himself purely as a man of the Watch until he reads a certain letter. Ser Barristan starts off as a simple Kingsguard knight who denies any political machinations until he's forced into taking on a bigger role. Victarion starts off as a strictly military man with no greater ambition beyond his role as Iron Captain until he gets his magical epiphany.

With these two characters and Theon it's even underlined in their Chapter titles. Reek doesn't become Theon until he makes his choice, The Iron Captain doesn't become Victarion until he decides to embrace things other than the Ironborn way. Quentyn thinks of himself as hero of a fairy tale as denies the fact that he's just a plain, ordinary man with no special qualities hence the reason why he has no "name".

That should be reflected in the season 5 marketing IMO

Well, I don't know what to say. I followed the rules and posted spoilers in spoiler tags, if they went ahead and looked then that's their mistake.

if you still feel the need to click spoiler tags, maybe you should grow up.

you know what interest me? Mr's Lippys car is green!

Thats kinda what I meant, that the way the story is marketed as now, as Stark vs Lannister is gonna change with the deaths of Tywin and Joffrey and be more Lannister vs Tyrell, Baratheon vs Bolton, Targaryen vs common sense, Greyjoy vs everyone. The power dynamic shifts a bit after ASOS, the Lannisters are kind of more like the underdogs going forward.

ja

loved the [BLACKOUT]Targaryen vs common sense part. [/BLACKOUT]

it is really true.

So, with the fourth season starting this April, I decided I'd finally give Game of Thrones a watch. I'm 7 episodes into Season One, and my current state of mind can be summed as:

SO FRICKEN GOOD!!!!! :argh::awesome:

P.S. Seriously, I hate every Lannister except Tyrion and Joffrey, who can't elicit any response from me (so far) except :lmao:.

Calm down! I'm just saying I was trying to help the idiots that do look and then get mad. No biggy.

eehh... what? he compared Connor Kenway with Gendry

here's the quote:

pretty much seems a Gendry/Connor comparison to me :yay::yay:

Oh silly me, sorry! I thought you meant his previous posts where he compared Kenway to a future character, since both are pirates.

no problem!:yay:

now THAT comparison between Kenway and Crow'sEye would make a little sense.....just a little

You like Joffrey, the guy is a recipient for hate but maybe I misunderstand what you meant.
Tywin Lannister, the family's head, is the best of them next to Tyrion. He's a Boss.

He's only 7 episodes in. By the end of season 3 he'll despise him.

I've hated Joffrey since the second episode of the series.

Tyrion and Jaime are the only likable Lannisters. Maybe Tommen and Myrcella too, but they're not important enough to the story to really care about, at least not now. I don't like Tywin, but dammit do I respect him. Same with Cersei. Joffrey is just fun to hate.

Oh no. I think Joffrey is scum.

I do not LIKE him. However, I just can't get angry at him (yet) do to how weaselly and over compensatory he is.

He just makes me giggle.

Also, he hasn't done anything particularly yet to make me outright hate him. Unlike
his mother and father/uncle :barf:.

Tyrion, on the othe rhand, I like.
