EDIT: Whoa. Great minds think alike, KaneDigits.

Olyvar seems disappointed. :o

So chicken is the secret to becoming a manmore.

I've said before I don't think this is a normal TV show where viewer numbers are sure to tail off in the later seasons. Some of the best shows have a special novelty that make their 1st season amazing which they can keep going for a long time but not for the full life of their run (especially on a long running show). With Game of Thrones there was no need for a clever idea or novelty and telling the excellent underlying story with top notch production values in all areas was enough by itself. I think it's going to get bigger as the stakes keep building and everything amps up towards an unknown conclusion. Most who have made it to the end of season 4 having watched everything before I believe will be there at the end, especially if the quality stays as high as this last episode. I only came into this recently even though I'm into fantasy and knew it had a great reputation and have since introduced it/forced it on to others who have all of their own accord bought and caught up on everything to date and started watching live from this season. There are more potential fans out there who haven't watched a single episode yet who will eventually be convinced to start by word of mouth and I think this show will retain viewers well in later seasons as those who GoT is not for will likely have dropped out earlier. We'll see anyway and it's great to hear that it's doing so well.

It's actually been happening recently with some of the most talked about show, Breaking bad's final half season had the numbers constantly going up and The Walking Dead has risen up quite impressivelly and become one of the most watch shows on the USA.

Great premier.
The Hound & Aria scenes were the best for me. He was very funny with the chicken stuff and F*** The King.

A marvelous return. Martells in da house!!! Finally and what an introduction, spot-on for Oberyn, he's hot-headed, got a quick tongue (who doesn't in this show?) and he doesn't dance around in regards to his agenda and visit, Indira's always a welcoming addition, really like she's plainspoken, quite a couple. I really hope that they don't cut all the Dorne materials next season. This episode really flew by, it's good when they don't delve into what's currently all the characters doing so, just focus on a couple and it's less clunky.

I really how they cut most of the Dorne material next season. :hehe:

That's cray cray talk. Nah I won't hold my breath but at least I hope it's being at least trimmed, as long as they get the essential, Arianne and Doran, if it's even just only that, I'd be pleased. I need my Dorne fix.

They won't remove Arianne, Doran or Quentyn. Those three are pretty essential for Dance of the Dragons 2.0

If they cut anything...

... it'll be the Iron Islanders picking their new king, the Kingsmoot. That was boring even in the books. :(

Even now I still don't understand what was the point of it and why it had to be so bloody long. :(

Well for one it explored the Ironborn culture in more detail, which is likely going to play into both Aeron's WoW storyline, as well as further the general socio-political themes GRRM has littered through the saga.

It also set up Euron and his ambitions as well as something Asha/Theon related down the line.

The [blackout]Iron Islands Kingsmoot[/blackout] is important, but they can do it a LOT faster on the show. I thought the Ironborn chapters were boring in AFFC. But looking back, they're pretty interesting people. Personally, I think they're a wild card for the larger events in Westeros.

One of the things I realized, is that the Greyjoys themselves weirdly represent the greater magical war seeping into the human storyline. The two elder brothers are Ice and Fire made flesh in their own twisted way.

I agree they are interesting people, but I do think a lot of that can be streamlined and probably will be if they are going to try and do this whole run in seven seasons (which I still think is too short, especially since the show is only increasing in popularity).

I loved it how this episode mirrored the "Mercy" chapter GRRM released a couple days ago.

I've re-watched the episode again, and I've gotta say it was really beautiful to see how that final scene unfolded. Setting the table for Arya's revenge, and then building tension with the Hound straight up saying "**** the king", with the fight scene being a great payoff. They sold that fight very well, too. The Hound kicked ass, but it wasn't easy. It worked, seeing how he was on the floor having to fight while being kicked by two dudes. Just a really well done action sequence that didn't get muddy in the least, and was very easy to follow while having those "holy ****" moments, like the dude getting stabbed in the crotch or the one getting stabbed square in the face.

I look at a scene like that, and it seems to prove the case that a series today can have action sequences as well done, well directed, and just as exciting as a movie. If not better, and without all the needless fluff.

It at least shows that violence can have a point, it wasn't put there just to be flashy. It shows Arya's transition into who she will become. I can watch that over and over again, if only for that little smile right at the end. :)
