I'm sorry but Ned would destroy Tyrion in a fist fight.

Well Tyrion is a dwarf, so......... that's not as impressive as you think.

You guys forgetting Blackwater? Tyrion hacked a guy's leg off from the knee down.

In the books Tyrion is quite awesome in the battle with his mountain clans, he doesn't just get knocked out like he does in season 2 he actually is pretty bad ass.

Ned is flawed in an honorable way. His biggest flaw is he is a good person. I liken Ned to Luke Skywalker, Harry Potter or even Jon Snow. The big difference is he pays for it with his life.

Jaime gets points for redemption. He has seen the error of his ways, he understands his flws and he is trying to change. That makes him intriguing, but not necessarily a "better" person.

Stannis is completely self-aware, which some find admirable. He knows what he is and he makes his decision accordingly.

Cat is kind of like Tywin, without the self-awareness. Tywin doesn't lie to himself. He knows why he does what he does. Cat isn't nearly as self-aware. She romanticizes her views and her own actions.

Dany is delusional and put on a pedestal, that is why I give her a hard time. However, [BLACKOUT]at the end of ADWD she might have finally realized that[/BLACKOUT].

I will just say that Stannis is aware of how unloved or poor a brother he is or Jaime realizing what he did to Bran is monstrous does not make them necessarily better or more likable characters...well maybe Jaime, because he is so fascinating as a complex human being. However, I do not think Jaime having mixed feelings about what he did to Bran, not unlike Cat does for Jon Snow in Season 3, expunges what he did. And yes, pushing Bran out, which set the Starks on a collision course with the Lannisters far more than Cat's kidnapping of Tyrion, is far worse than Cat being mean to Jon Snow.

I think they're both flawed. And while Jaime is naturally entertaining, it still surprises me how his flaws can be seen as character building, while Cat's (or Dany's for that matter) makes her a monster.

As for Daenerys, she is still young. She was not bred for power and was a victim her whole life until about 15 and then was given the equivalent to nuclear codes that everyone else can only tremble before the sight of. She has wielded the power in some intelligent ways and some ver dumb ways. But she is learning an either way will become a very effective ruler by the time she reaches Westros, IMO. Whether that ruler is as a just queen, the image she has haphazardly created in Essos, or as a tyrant who dispenses with all pretenses of her Targaryen blood remains to be seen. However, she is fascinating to watch grow into some type of game-changing role. And at least for myself, is more interesting than a certain beloved internet character who cannot see past the red hair in his face.

Then he took a sword to the face and had to be saved by his virgin squire.:o
Does the amount of sex a squire has had correlate with his battle skills? :woot:

Its more a matter of pride. Tyrion should commit seppuku and die like a man. His shame is too great.

Between the Unsullied and the Watch, in Westeros it seems that abstinence makes you a better fighter.

Seppuku would be his no. 2 choice of method of death in that situation, no.1 would be in his own bed, at the age of 80, with a belly full of wine and a girl's .........

Excellent point!

If Ned had been there during the red wedding instead of Robb, he would have understood the song, and he would have sing before getting shot, because that's the honorable thing to do.

There would be no Red Wedding if Ned were alive because he would have made Robb marry a Frey.

But lets say, Ned was ill because he ate too much corned beef, so he couldn't force Robb to marry a Frey, then surely, he would be at the red wedding. And as others pointed out, Ned was a great dude, like you know the dude would totally lend you a few bucks if you needed it, or he would let you apologize before beheading you, but in the meantime, he wasn't the smarter dude of the bunch, which is why he ain't in the show anymore. so you have this not really smart guy attending the red wedding, and surely, like Catelyn, he would recognize the rains of castemere. Only, unlike her, he his quick reflexes would allow him to react to the song, and he would be singing, since the Freys were good at playing violins, but none of them did the vocals, which is a shame, really, considering how great the lyrics are.

I think it would have been epic, instead of just having the king in the north be killed like a kid, not knowing how to react. Of course, eventually, the young wolf would still die, but at least, we would have had the whole package. Which is why I say Kill Geoffrey!

But that isn't really the point. We have seen it in our entertainment and art for years.Give us a repenting, charming *******. Give us an honest man, even if he is a jerk. That is why they are beloved.

Cat lies to herself, is selfish, but rarely if ever acknowledges. How she treats Jon Snow is simply a microcosm of this. Also book wise, she is the one that pushes Ned out of the door.

Because she never progresses. Cat never grows. She is set in her ways. Dany still at least has a chance.

I can' tell if this is a Stannis joke of not. :funny:

Dany will always have her fans, and I agree she is fascinating. The reverence in the story and her plot armor make it hard to like her though. Especially considering the massively poor choices she makes. At least for me.

I got the impression that Stannis
stopped putting stock in Mel's Azor Ahai prophecies a little ways after Blackwater. I think him sending Massey to Braavos for sellswords is a contingency plan for when/if Mel causes a schism in his ranks between the king's men and queen's men. The show might get us to this point eventually.
