Sandor Clegane reps have confirmed he has been signed onto to promote Perdue Chicken...The man loves his chickens

My belated response: I hope they got all the chickens!

It ends with the death of Ice and the rebirth of Needle. Two swords, indeed. This was a fantastic premiere and the best they've had in a long while. Prince Oberyn was fantastically introduced, and all the material involving the Lannisters (minus Shae) was terrific. Also, when did Jon Snow on the TV show become such a smartass? I am glad to see them finally draw attention to how clever he can also be despite what Ygritte may say.

Holly Coww!! This is easily one of the best episodes in the series hands down.

I loved it how it started really depressing for the Starks, and ended rather in a hope tone (or a little triumphant moment after so many sad and devastating ones)

The prologue scene was FANTASTIC. Tywin burning the wolf skin thing and the Stark theme being replaced by the Lannister one. Awesome

Oberyn's intro was without a doubt the best character introduction ever since S1Ep01. My personal favorite before this was the Blackfish one.

Loved the Dunk reference ("he must have accomplished a lot of things " ha)

Maester Aemon owns it : "if chop you every brother's head for breaking their bows, the Wall would be ruled by headless men."

**** Janos Slynt. I hated him more than any other character.

God yes. I didn't even think it was possible.

Hmmm. Well, for all the horrible things he does, Joffrey is one of those characters you love to hate. Janos is just an outright ****head.

Was Clegane's line "A man's got to have a code" a reference to The Wire?

The Hound comin', yo!

I hated this part the most of the scene when Ice was melted down.

I loved it, i loved how this season opens up with Tywin Lannisters and the Rains of Castamere.

I like the new Jon Snow.

The wait for the next episode is going to be agonizing.
You mean the real Jon Snow. :)

I have heard the theory that the horrible weather and short shoot times really hurt the time beyond the Wall. When I see those same characters back on the other side of the way, I can't help but agree. The quality was so much better.

Symbolism referring to Jon, Arya and Sansa. :)

I loved it because I hated it. It's like the scene of Hoster Tully's funeral. It's a small moment but fully captures the character. Tywin doesn't just defeat his enemies, he wipes them from history. As far as he knows, he's succeeded. Robb is dead, Arya, Bran, and Rickon are presumed dead, and Jon Snow is a bastard in the Night's Watch. Even if Sansa has children, they will be Lannisters and carry on that name.

[blackout]But the wolves will come again[/blackout]

I hate the Daario recast so far, the new guy had flat presence and failed to give any feel of the character to me.

Otherwise, a solid season premiere. Loved the dragons, loved the Arya and Hound stuff.

The Hound and Arya scenes were definitely my favorite parts. When they are hiding in the bushes and all you can see is their faces I was rolling.

"Lots of people name their swords."

"Lots of ****s."

:lmao:

Even on the night of WM, the return of GoT was the highest viewed episode of any HBO show since the series finale of the Sopranos. :hehe: :D

All hail HBO’s Game of Thrones. The fourth-season premiere of the fantasy delivered the show’s biggest audience yet: 6.6 million viewers. That makes Sunday’s Thrones HBO’s most-watched program since The Sopranos’ series finale in 2007. Two replays of the Thrones episode drove the show’s full-night tally up to 8.2 million viewers.

By comparison, season 3 opened to 4.4 million viewers and eventually peaked at 5.5 million for the sixth episode (no, the Red Wedding was not a record high, and nor was the finale, which delivered 5.4 million).

Last season Thrones averaged 14.4 million viewers per episode, second only to The Sopranos as HBO’s most-watched series. This year, Thrones might very well overtake the classic mob drama to claim the premium cable network’s all-time crown, especially given its history of growing its audience as a season progresses.

Online viewership was also immense as HBO Go, the pay cabler’s streaming service, crashed during the premiere with many receiving a “fatal error” message, which HBO attributed to “overwhelming demand.”

GoT crashed HBO Go. :funny:
