That scene came to my mind as well. There relationship is ****ed up in so many ways its not hard to think that what happened last night was a HUGE deviation from what is normal in their relationship.

Indeed. And I don't know if this Season 1 scene is from the books either.

Now, granted, Jaime's a different person now and saved Brienne from rapers, but still.

I can't wait to see if either Jaime or Cersei have any kind or reaction to this, next episode.

I'm trying to think. Outside of the 10,000 references to rape in the series, have they actually shown anything like that on screen..even if happening in the background or something?

I might be in the minority, but I think the new Daario sucks. He doesn't seem like a bad actor, but he lacks any sort of charisma that makes him stand out. The original Daario seemed like the kind of cocky badass that you wanted to slap half the time but also a guy you want on your side when sh** goes down. This guy is just sort of... there. And his armor looks too big on him.

Do you think we are going to get the [BLACKOUT]kiss[/BLACKOUT], just at a different point? Also,

Also, I am starting to wonder about the banishment. I am starting to get the feeling they may not do it, which would suck imo.

There's still time.

I'd be very surprised if they don't cover Jorah's banishment this season. If I were to guess, that's probably how they'll wrap up Daenerys's storyline this season.

New Daario just faced down a mounted rider with a lance by throwing a dagger into the horse's eye and then cutting the rider's throat. If that's not being a cocky bad***, I don't know what is.

Which was awesome. :woot:

I think he has to be banished because he's the one who gets Tyrion to Meereen. I don't think he'll be MIA for long though.

Yeah, I know his character did that, but you're telling me the original actor playing Daario couldn't have done the same thing? It's not just about the action; it's about the attitude. If this guy has it, I haven't seen it yet. Maybe it's just because he's only been in a few scenes, I don't know.

I didn't even realise that it was aimed at the horse's eye. Nice!

Yep, all about interpretation. I felt like Jaime wasn't much thinking bout Cersei's needs in the moment. Part of it could be him reverting to past behavior to comfort her, but I didn't quite get that. I feel like Jaime was looking for what they use to have, too find his love, and we will find out soon he can't. Jaime is too different at this point. This is Jaime falling out of love with Cersei imo.

Sex is how Cersei controls Jaime. It is how he has learned to express his love for her. Their children, and Cersei's love for them is a testament to this. Which is why in an attempt to find that love again, Jaime wants to have sex.

Yes, I agree with that logic. But again, they can show that without having Jamie force himself on her. They didn't do it that way in the books, and it adds a layer to Jamie's character that I'm not fond of.

Ramsay Snow said:
I could be wrong here, but in Season 1, Jaime forced his arms around her and Cersei didn't want it. But Jaime comforted her with assurance that he will kill for her. And then Cersei let him grope her and stuff.

It's nothing like this. Nothing. But I couldn't help but get reminded of that scene in Season 1.

Something like that I don't mind. There's a big difference between putting your arm on someone when they're annoyed with you and forcing sex on them.

Yeah, I really didn't like Jaime raping Cersei. Cersei is such an evil b**ch but no one deserves to be raped (except maybe other rapists). And while Jaime has done some truly despicable things in the past, I had finally come around to liking and understanding him - and this episode pretty much ruined that for me.

The bolded is precisely why I prefer the original actor. He had this pretty boy a-hole look about him but still look liked he kicked serious ass. This guy doesn't really give me any kind of impression, he's just there for me.

That's true, but he didn't just put his arm around her, but also groped her breast. Of course, it's nothing compared to this - I get you.

Thanks, I'm glad someone else can see where I'm coming from. The original Daario kind of reminded me of Thor, if Thor was a bit of a bigger a-hole. Maybe they'll consider him for the role of He-Man, if that movie ever gets off the ground.

Yeah. It was just an odd directorial choice.

As to the Daario thing, I don't really mind either way. I didn't mind the first actor, and I haven't seen enough of the new guy to care one way or the other. I do kind of wish they embraced the more flamboyant and outlandish look the Bravosi are supposed to sport in the books. That could have been interesting.

That's the thing. The original actor made an impression as soon as I saw him without nary a word coming out of his mouth. I didn't have to see more of the actor like this new one is for me. I'm assume he'll be alright when everything is said and done. Not a big deal in the end.

I still like Jaime. I think murdering his cousin was 1,000x worst than that "rape" too

Yeah, I definitely understand what you're saying. He definitely had a unique look. An odd combination of looking like a romance novel cover pretty-boy, yet still seeming somewhat foreign and exotic. I actually didn't mind the guy, I know some people really ripped on him. But for his design in general, I wish they had gone somewhat closer to the book. The dude had long hair dyed blue with his mustache died gold, wore very colorful clothing, had many piercings ect. I think they "normaled" him up too much.

The original actor chose to be in The Transporter, which is probably going to start being a direct-to-video franchise soon. I don't see any reason to lament him chasing more money in a dead-end franchise. New Daario hasn't had more time to shine and I think he'll be a better casting in the long run.

This is another thing I've hated with the show. Kinslaying has an enormous stigma in Westeros and he kills his cousin for no reason to (unsuccessfully) escape. Instead, it's completely ignored.

Tyrion/Pod scene...

Anyway, good episode. Loved the scene with Tywin and Tommen. Tywin clearly enjoyed having a much more receptive student than the former king. And as for the "rape", I don't know... that whole relationship is so warped and wrong and manipulative in so many ways, I find it hard to classify that moment under the same terms as what would've happened to Sansa during the riot back in S2, before the Hound intervened.

The things we do for love. :o

Yeah, I don't know how Tyrion became such a good "father" all things considered.
