HBO's Game of Thrones - - Part 16

All these casting rumors and not a single bit of news about the Greyjoys. I'm starting to worry...

Maybe the Greyjoys won't have casting calls and there'll already be an actor in mind for them/

Well, the Westeros forums are entertaining the theory that (Book spoilers)
Daario is Euron in disguise.

Well they already destroyed that character on the show, so sure, why not?

The Mountain DID have a shield in the book. It was his standard shield, but repaired for the duel.

The producers threw both shields out, I imagine, to make the choreography easier to manage. I mean, how many of the "big" fights in the show HAVE included shields? Full army battles aside, I can't think of any.

Ah okay, I couldn't remember that. I remember Oberyn using his shield to blind the Mountain, but that was it. They probably threw it out to make choreography easier. Though, when properly utilized, shields can be incorporated into fight choreography in very creative ways. The Eric Bana/Pitt fight in Troy is a good example of this, using the shield as both a defensive and offensive tool.

Well, his entire appearance. They made his a thirsty man-****e and everything.

What did they destroy? I've read the books, but Daario didn't really catch my attention.

Yeah, I'd agree. I was disappointed that they didn't give him his unique look from the books (or at least make him somewhat more outlandish if they weren't willing to go the full mile with him) but aside from that, personality wise, it wasn't like he was an insanely layered and complex character. At least not yet. He's still very one-dimensional in the books.

Didnt see that coming (having not read the books) but it just sums up what The Incredibles taught us...dont get caught monologging....

The thing is, dude could have done his monologue still if he was literally like 2 more feet away from him.

Same here, rumors are rumors, but i'm really getting worried they're cutting the Greyjoys.

Not to mention i'd hbe a good opportunity to introduce the Golden Company, since it's been referenced this season alot.

Nah, they wouldn't cut the Greyjoys. They're too important going forward to leave out, plus would help pad out the story more to make sure that the show doesn't catch up with the books for at least another year. Euron, Victarion and Aeron will have seasoned actors in those roles so it's likely they have a list of people they want and may have already started talking to them. [BLACKOUT]With the Sand Snakes and other Dornish roles they'll be casting younger so it makes sense that they'll send out casting calls - plus it's probably easier to find middle-aged white male actors than it is to find young adult black/Spanish/Latin actors.[/BLACKOUT]

My favorite theory about Daario Naharis is that he's Benjen Stark.

Hence the nickname Benjaario Starkharis.

I love fans, they got some really clever theories that i totally buy, but then you have.... some other theories lol.

They probably cast some more actors from E4 shows Misfits and Skins. GoT has already raided many actors who appeared in those shows :funny:

could we be getting flashbacks next season as a way to not get ahead of the books?

If that's true then Jon and dany are screwed. 2 books to go. A lot of room for one of them to die.

How could he be Benjen

He's in knights watch, though MIA

(Have not read books, so excuse any ignorance on my part)

The theory is that Benjen Stark changed his face (like Jaqen H'ghar) to Daario. I don't know what evidence there is, I've always found it stupid.

I was never sold on the Daario argument. The closest one I've become to being sold on is the Coldhands one, even though it is problematized by the line of dialogue about him being dead for a while.

Ah, true. I didn't think of that. After all, Randyll Tarly hasn't been listed either and they're probably going to bring him in as well.

But what about any other members of the Kingsguard? I feel like it's just Jaime now, with Meryn Trant popping up a few times per season. Should they introduce Balon Swann and Osmund Kettleblack?

Osmund if he leads to certain sex-scenes with a certain blonde...

Been awhile since Blackfish took the most important piss of his life. From what I understand, his story has diverged a bit from the books, yes?

Nope, not really, he hasn't showed up in a while and he still shouldn't for some time.

Apparently there's a minor spoiler in Obara's audition tape dialogue,
there's rumors of Jaime Lannister having been seen in Planky Town. Maybe Obara will charge at him with some camels and send him running back to King's Landing.

Probably [blackout] looking for Tyrion.[/blackout]

Is Daario even around right now? I've forgotten his status over the last few episodes. I feel like the recast was pointless outside of the posing gate scene...

Thaw actor has been given a lot more to do over in Orphan Black this season.

After seeing on those leaked casting slides that Obara would have a fight scene with another series regular which isn't in the books, I thought it might be D&D changing Jaime going to Riverrun to Jaime going to Dorne. That audition tape only adds further credence to it.
