HE directed that?

Again, not a director, but...

George Lucas - (executive producer) - "Howard the Duck"

And this was three years AFTER "Return of the Jedi."

So man makes landmark cornerstone of Science Fiction...man helps with landmark cornerstone of adventure with two "Indiana Jones" films to date...

then after that, man exec produces a film based on "Howard the Duck"...

...wait WHAT!??

You mean to tell me George Lucas, after achieving a level of success second only to Spielberg, decides that out of ALL the projects he can now do...he chooses THIS one?

The Faculty was his only good movie.. .over-rated hack

I don't know if I have herd a more incorrect statment

I am all for freedom of opinion, but just like the right to bear arms, if you are an idiot with that right (i.e. shoot someone) you should get your rights taken away

I think if you where to have just said Faculty was his best movie, people would think you are stupid, but no more than everyone else on these threads, but the fact you take it to the extent you did saying it is his only good movie is pretty asinine

Paul Verhoven - Hollow Man

How did the director of the masterpiece that is RoboCop direct this piece of crap!? Although, I did hear it was a contractual obligation.

I can't believe he directed such horrible movies as The Crow and Dark City, personaly I enjoyed I Robot.

I will say Spider-Man 3, only because I thought Raimi had grew away from those crappy Evil Dead type films.
How was The Crow horrible? And you're calling Evil Dead crappy? Look, just because Evil Dead was cheaply made, doesn't mean it was crappy. It's a classic!

I bet you even liked Shark Boy and Lava Girl. Or were the Spy Kids movies more to your liking? It's sad you can't appreciate Desperado.

peter jackson- ANYTHING before LOTR. specifically dead-alive and meet the feebles.

i still remember when someone was telling me they were making a LOTR film, and i asked who was directing, and they told me some guy named peter jackson, and i was just like "peter jackson? you mean...the dead-alive guy?"

It was more like "The Heavenly Creatures Guy"

Cause Robcop initself isn't much of a masterpeice

good movie not better than Dead Alive, or Meet the Feebles

Dead Alive is easily one of the 10 best horror movies ever made

Heavenly creatures is just another movie really

right, that was a great x-men movie right? i mean completely centered on wolverine, incorrectly attributed characters, poor characterization, poor storytelling, bland action (sans the night crawler scene). I'm pretty sure your right that this is the closest thing to an x-men movie without it looking gay:huh:
The strangest thing about these types of comments is that they never really surfaced until around 2006 after Superman Returns pissed people off. When X1 and X2 were at their peak of popularity at around 2004, you wouldn't have seen a comment quite like this.

Hey man I hated the first two x-men movies long before SR was stinking up the screen

I actually am kind of ashamed to admit it I liked X3 better for its non singerness, and its atempt to make a cartoon movie, even though it is still a far cry from what even a average x-men movie should be

SR was just a bad movie, but I am also not the biggest fan of the character, so that movie had no influence on me what so ever over my opinion on the first two x-men movies

Saying, RoboCop is cool or I like RoboCop is fine. Calling it a masterpiece makes me laugh my ass off.

Robert Rodriguez directed shark boy and lava boy
Joel Schumacher direted Batman and Robin
Alfonso Cuaron directed Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
David Fincher directed Alien 3

its a good movie, but seriously.....masterpiece.....?

Like I said, I think it was very aware of the society and culture of the time it came out, and really touched on the whole "Reagan Era" in a very satirical way. Urban development, consumerism, things like that were very strong themes in the film, and I think the way they were addressed was very smart, even though most of us would be quick to just write it off as a cheezy sci-fi action flick. Conceptually, I think it's exactly what science fiction should be more often than not.

I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just saying the word masterpeice is used a bit loosely if we are tying it to RoboCop, at least to me I see Robocop as an 8/10, maybe a 9 if I really wanna be generous, it is by no means a 10 which is probably what a movie should be to be called a masterpeice

I said his only good film becuase I disliked all his films... although i haven't seen shark boy and lava girl or the third spy kids movie so I guess I cant change them although I would assume they suck. I didn't even like Faculty all that much and haven't seen it in a very long time but compared to his more respected films I enjoyed it. I don't see why me disliking his movies angers you so, but I guess thats the way it is.
