I've been waiting to hear Christopher Nolan's thoughts on Heath's passing. He expressed himself very well. That was a touching, heartfelt article, and a fitting tribute to a great actor taken from us far too soon.

Very touching, Day-Lewis sounds like a great guy.

Dennis Hopper, poor guy has let the media influence his opinion of the situation. I think there needs to be a huge apology from the media when it's revealed that he died of natural causes, namely exhaustion + pneumonia. They smeared his name, and now they should redeem it when the truth is revealed. TMZ already reported that police are thinking it was natural causes because the level of prescription drugs in his system wasn't enough to kill him.

I agree. I liked what Star Jones said about how the situation:
Might I suggest that we in the media, instead of reporting on the dead based on gossip, rumor, innuendo and anonymous sources, choose to honor this man's memory based on his talent and the good taste we all should be exercising. My heart goes out to the family of Heath Ledger.
I agree with her one hundred percent, and it's how everyone in the media should have conducted themselves from day one. Instead, so many of them swooped in like vultures and started spreading rumors of an overdose, not caring about his memory, only caring about what will snag them some ratings.

Yeah, but I'd take that with a grain of salt because it's TMZ - they're pretty tabloidy. I'd love that to be the case, but I don't trust gossip sites... for good news or the bad.

A photo taken by a friend of mine. This is the skateshop from Lords of Dogtown in Santa Monica. :csad:

wow. this is so surreal. to see that on the side of the old zephyr shop, a place that is legendary to anyone who follows skateboarding, makes it seem all the more real.

I'm still pissed at Courtney for doing that :cmad: Nobodies journal should be made public without consent.

courtney love is the anti christ

Either way, the media should have waited until the toxicology reports come back because:

(1) No illegal drugs were found in the apartment.
(2) Heath was described as a cheerful person who lived for his daughter, not some miserable person who wanted to end his own life.
(3) He had pneumonia, he had extreme exhaustion according to the NY Times reporter who interviewed him in November.

Until the toxicology comes back, they should have given him the benefit of the doubt instead of smearing his name. The first impression from the media often influences public opinion.

You two are crazy that suit with that shirt is perfect...it's a beautiful shirt! It's a little more sophisticated than the usual Ramones t-shirt/jeans comic-nerd type emo kid, so I wouldn't expect you two to understand. :oldrazz:

The pokadot pocket square juxtaposes the patterns perfect.

i agree. i would have gone with smaller lapels but...:whatever:

DDL is a class act all the way. Damn, what a beautiful and heartfelt tribute. Heath made such an impact on so many.

daniel day lewis is my hero. maybe he will reconsider comic book roles now?

holycow, I wiki-search DDL and man...that guy is 50!, he looks so young on the SAG.

Christian Bale 33
Heath Ledger 28
Daniel Day-Lewis 50
Ryan Gosling 27

Daniel would do a terrific joker IMO

DED-icate!
Get it ?!?!:woot:
Too soon?

Well I also totally trust Daniel-Day Lewis with Joker, as long as hes able to keep it comic booky and fun in addition to being scary and brilliant like Heath's Joker.

It was a nice gesture and Lewis seemed genuinely affected by his death considering, according to him, they never met.

Wasn't Lewis approached for Ra's in BB but turned it down?

LOS ANGELES - Daniel Day-Lewis dedicated his Screen Actors Guild Award to Heath Ledger.

Day-Lewis, who was honored Sunday as leading actor for his performance in "There Will Be Blood," gave an acceptance speech that echoed comments he made last week about Ledger, the 28-year-old Australian actor whose death stunned Hollywood, on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

"In 'Brokeback Mountain' he was unique, he was perfect," Day-Lewis said. "That scene in the trailer at the end of the film is as moving as anything I think I've ever seen."

Backstage, the 50-year-old Day-Lewis said he never met Ledger but the actor's death was all he had been thinking about recently.

"I thought he was beautiful. I just had a very strong feeling I would have liked him very much as a man," he said. "I admired him very much. I'm absolutely certain he would have done many wonderful things in his life."

Several prescription drugs were found in the apartment where Ledger's body was found Tuesday by his masseuse. The cause of death is awaiting toxicology tests.

During the awards show religious protesters gathered across the street from the Shrine Auditorium, toting signs that read, "Heath's in Hell," a reference to his "Brokeback Mountain" role in which he portrayed a gay cowboy.

"We should leave him alone and we should leave his family alone to suffer their unimaginable grief in private, and it's not going to happen," Day-Lewis said backstage. "We should just stop encouraging people to have greater and greater interest in raking over every detail, which is none of our business anyhow."

Ledger's photo from his Oscar-nominated role in 2005's "Brokeback Mountain" closed the SAG award show's in-memoriam segment.

That just makes me sick. All those religious a**holes are the ones who will be burning in hell.
As for Lewis' dedication, I found it moving. The article even says that he never met Ledger, so technically he's not that different from the rest of us, he's just a guy who admired Ledger's work. Lewis gets an "A" in my book, from here on out.

Wow, Nolan doesn't mess around.

Wow, Nolan doesn't mess around.

Fa sho.

Despite being 20 years older than Heath, I could oddly enough see DDL picking up where Heath left off if The Joker were to appear in the third film. Too soon to speculate, and I really don't care right now... but I'd be lying if I said I'm not at least entertaining the idea.

Hmmm......

Lovely tribute, really heartfelt. I'd seen "...Blood" just the night before and highly recommend it, mainly for DDL's towering performance.

I admire DDL so much, so to see this just increases my respect for him. I've never seen much of his "real" persona before, so it's surprising to see just how humble and meek he seems to be. His on-screen personas are so drastically different that you can barely tell the actor playing the role.

That's probably why DDL cared to mention Heath these past few days. They were both pretty intense method actors.

Oh, and as much as I'd like to see it, DDL won't touch the Batman franchise. That guy is incredibly hard to hire for roles. He may respect Heath, but that guy isn't going to follow a movie franchise because of it.

Daniel Day Lewis is an amazing actor. That was nice of him. :(

Nice to see Ryan Gosling wearing the black ribbon on his suit.

Of course. Just saying, I was entertaining the idea.
