Hell just froze over: Devil May Cry goes to PS3, PC and 360

3rd party exclusives are going to be few and far between this generation. Xbox 360 is already loosing "exclusive franchises" like Elder Scrolls and Ghost Recon AW 2 to being multiplatform, and there are lots of rumors that Dead Rising 2 might be coming to PS3, along with Ninja Gaiden 2 (which may hinge on Ninja Gaiden Sigma's sales).

The only exclusives that you can count on this generation will be from first parties, like the two "G of War" franchises that everyone's talking about.

The big thing here though is Xbox is getting these games first. Obviously it would get Elder Scrolls first, but look at Rainbow Six Vegas, it could/should have been a launch game, however, PS3 owners still need to wait a month for it. GRAW 2 will be released on PS3 3 months after it's released on the 360. Rainbow Six could get a price cut by the time it's released on PS3, I'm suprised Elder Scrolls hasn't already been dropped to $30.

Def not good news for PS3, but in all honesty I don't think it's a hell froze over moment.

I have np admitting sales have been low, and Capcom wants to maximize sales, meaning they need it out on more systems since there are a low amount of PS3's in homes...well that's the obvious reason.

Main reason I say that is Capcom has a history of this. They switched Megaman for the Playstation. They switched Resident Evil from Playstation to Dreamcast back to Playstation to Nintendo. Anymore I don't consider anything Capcom puts out as an exclusive as they tend to port and switch to whatever the best selling system is at the time.

Well at the least I would have guess this long before MGS would switch, now that would surprise me, well a new MGS when first coming out to switch.

The simple fact of the mater is at the rate things are going, Sony will no longer have the number one console this generation. Sony's strongest arm has always been that of it's 3rd party exclusives and not their rather weak first party offerings. Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, and GT are all great series, but they won't sell a ton of systems. The one system selling franchise they do have however is God of War and that is probably the main reason I will purchase a PS3, but by then, hell maybe by this Fall the PS3 will have dropped in price by at least $100. With Sony starting to take out the PS2 chips in the newer units that reduces their costs by $100 and with the horrid sells of the PS3 right now, Sony may pass those savings on to consumers and continue to take a loss on each system sold.

The loss of Devil May Cry 4 as an exclusive is a big blow for Sony. I know if I owned both a PS3 and a 360, I would still choose the 360 verison over the PS3 verison for the simple fact that I like the 360 controller better and I can unlock achievements while I play the game.

The 360 and the PS3 are going to have alot of killer 3rd party games on both consoles, but what it will come down to is first party games and as much as I love God of War, there is no way it can stack up against the behemoth that is Halo. Microsoft has Halo, Gears of War, Forza, Fable, Splinter Cell, and Ninja Gaiden 2 all locked as exclusives and those are all some pretty huge titles, a few of them system sellers.

If Metal Gear Solid ends up going to the 360........

MS where just testing the waters first time out w/ Xbox, learning how the console wars work.
This time they are just going to buy every key franchise, and w/ the cheaper price tag and superior online functionality- Crush PS3 like the dog that it is. They will make Sony pay for them taking Sega outta the hardware business and I will love every second. They have had this coming for a long time, the tides are changing people.

Personally I'm not assed about DMC,- it's lame compared to Ninja Gaiden but its great to think of the PS3 fanboys now, hahahha. At this rate PS3 is going to have no exclusives left soon.
So far they have already lost Assassins Creed, Virtua Fighter 5, Unreal Tournament 3 and now this.

Aside from the ultimate blows which are coming- FF and MGS4, I think soon we'll see Tekken 6 announced for 360 also.

I burn up on the inside knowing that I have one less exclusive to rub in the faces of my Sony-hating rivals... But I take relish knowing that I'll have my revenge, when Ninja Gaiden 2 and Dead Rising 2 are announced for PS3!!!

Tomonobu Itagaki has already stated in interviews that Ninja Gaiden 2 will be heading to the 360 first. Then after the release they will possibly look to the
PS3. He is not a man to mince his words or state half truths either.

If you mean 'number one' in terms of sales- Wii and 360 are outselling it in USA and this situation is soon to be replicated in Europe. In Japan Wii is also out stripping PS3 in sales by some margin.

If you mean 'number one' in terms of console design/power/games-
Xbox was more powerful than PS2 and had better graphics by a long shot. Xbox also had the only real online system, and had a set of exclusive AAA games that were easily equal to the best of what PS2 had to offer.

The difference this time is it looks like Sony will soon have none of its own Exclusives left as all its key franchises will be on 360. MS however, will not only have the PS3’s best games but also its own exclusives to offer that won't be going anywhere, PLUS a cheaper price ANNNNNND the superior online service.

I still can't stand the 360 controller. Thats one of the reasons I'm sticking with PS3. I couldn't play Pro Evo properly on the 360.

Well, that's what Sony did with the PS1 and 2 that's why Sega isn't in the console race anymore. They just bought up a bunch of key franchises to be released exclusively on the Playstation.

Man this does suck for my ps3 fans but its very early in the race when it comes down to it exclusives will eventually go by the waste side the only exclusives will be ones made by the companies themselves i do believe the PS3 will when this round of the console wars because of the japanese and european markets but by a much smaller margin. But don't lead to much into this i know these boards are predominatley xbox fans but dont forget that atleast half of sony's market has not yet got to hit stride with its consumers so until xbox has mgs,KH,FF, it will probably reign supreme
