Horror "Hellraiser" Remake

So even the master of Hellraiser himself dosen't even know what this film is.

Wow, sounds like this films production is amazing, and knows exactly what it's doing with it's vision and emphasis.

I always preferred 2-4 to 1. 1 was boring as **** and while 3 and 4 aren't actually good or even have much to do with the first 2 they are still pretty rad. The rest sucked.

I love the first four. I enjoy one and two for being one continuing story and expanding the mythology, I enjoy three but agree with some comments I read here-and-there that they decided to take the series in a different direction...and I love four just for what could have been, especially all the cut scenes/test and unused footage out there, plus I think Hellraiser 4 is the only horror/slasher to do a somewhat decent "in space" story...

...I think where some of the later films lost me is when I read most, if not all the others weren't initially Hellraiser films...and I think for some, it does show...

He means he doesn't know what the meaning of "reboot" is exactly, not that he doesn't know what movie he's writing. A lot of people believe that in relation to a remake, a reboot is a distinction without a difference.

I get the feeling he doesn't have any interest in rehashing the plot of the first movie(Frank's resurrection and Julia killing men for him to feed on) and is instead creating a whole new story set in the Hellraiser mythology.

The first two are mine, but I have a fondness for Bloodline because it's what got me into Hellraiser to begin with. Hellraiser III was alright as a campy gorefest but I really would have preferred the gothic tone of the first two.

I really hope for some new info on the reboot soon. Like whether the Weinsteins greenlit Clive's screenplay.

It's times like this I wish Hellraiser were more popular, so topics about it wouldn't sink like a stone off the front page in a matter of minutes.

Speaking of Hellraiser, has anyone seen the Leviathan documentary?

'Hellraiser' Reboot in the Works With David S. Goyer to Write

As Spyglass resurrects Hellraiser, the studio will finance, develop and fast track the film for worldwide theatrical distribution. Spyglass chairman and CEO Gary Barber said Goyer was the right storyteller to turn Barker's original vision for Hellraiser into a new theatrical experience

"For generations, his (Barker's) brilliantly twisted and imaginative Hellraiser haunted the minds of moviegoers with its searing imagery of Pinhead.” Barber added. Keith Levine will produce the Hellraiser redo alongside Goyer, under the Phantom Four banner.

Chris Stone, vp of development and production for Spyglass, will oversee the project. "Having the chance to reimagine Pinhead and the Cenobites for a new audience is a nightmare-come-true. Gary is a true fan as well and we’re committed to making something dark and visceral," Goyer, who is also show-running the upcoming Foundation series at Apple, said in his own statement.

I'll keep an eye on this. The original is one of my favorites.

Yeah, I love the original film. It’s really silly at certain points but there is so much potential there for an epic horror story.

Considering it was filmed by a guy with zero experience in the area... I'm still blown away how well it turned out.

And yeah, there's incredible potential in the setting.

Have to pass with Goyer attached.

Everything I've ever wanted in a Hellraiser sequel, I got in the boom studios comic series. Probably gonna pass on this.

Hopefully this gives the series a shot in the arm. After it went direct-to-video, it sort of ruined the legacy of that first film.

The original is one of my all time favorite horror films so I'm not too excited about this but will keep an open mind.

1) most of the Hellraiser movies suck. No big deal if another one does.

2) Goyer gets entirely too much ****. He's not an unsung genius, but the way he's generally treated as a punchline is tiresome. His name is attached to too many damn good flicks to just dismiss him entirely. And honestly, of any potential projects, this one seems most suited to his sensibilities.

Like as already been said, the last couple of movies were garbage so in this case I'm fine with a reboot. It can't get any worse...

The way the one dude talked always killed me (the first guy who opened the box and got all his skin ripped off or whatever). He was so ridiculously over-the-top in his delivery. It somehow makes the movie better.

“HELP MEEE... YOU HAVE TO HEAL MEEEE!”

I think Claire Higgins really holds the film together acting-wise. Not saying other are bad, just perhaps less consistent in performances.

I think music also contributes to the feel of the movie. You just get a lot more invested. Christopher Young did amazing job.

Update: Goyer also directing, too.

David S Goyer to Write and Direct Clive Barker's 'Hellraiser' Remake

I dunno about you guys, but I'm VERY pissed about this matter. Of all the people in Hollywood to direct a Hellraiser reboot, why David S. Goyer, one of the most untalented hacks out there who's somehow still getting work? This is the man who made an awful exorcism movie that was nothing but cheap jump scares and bad dialogue that tries to pass itself off as creepy! Who also wrote a Blade script so awful it forced Wesley Snipes to act like a prima donna during the entire shoot and not want to cooperate with him! Who thought it was a good idea to have Superman be forced to let his adoptive father be killed by a tornado for no reason! And they want him to handle concepts as complex as Pinhead, the Cenobytes and the puzzle box of pain?

He's just going to do what the last 6 movies have done and just do the cheap way out and portray the Cenobytes as demons and Pinhead as a Satan-like being when they AREN'T! They flat out SAY they aren't in the first movie. [We are] Explorers in the further regions of experience. Demons to some. Angels to others. Pain and pleasure indivisible." Why does everyone who work on these newer Hellraiser movies keep forgetting this? They're eldritch beings who are a mostly neutral party who only torment those who open the box! They don't hunt people down unless they've escaped their custody like Frank did. They're not killers; most of the people who open the puzzle box WANT to go though the eternal pain and pleasure stuff. Goyer's not going to understand that.

Clive Barker himself has wanted to direct this reboot for YEARS now. Why didn't they just let him instead of hiring Goyer? Baker wrote the novela the original movie was based off of. Hell, he DIRECTED the first movie, for ****'s sake! He understands this series better than anyone who's done it since. Why not just give him what he wants for once? They could've otherwise just let someone like Guillermo Del Toro or Andy Muschietti direct it instead! Those guys understand material like this!

I fully agree MOVIELORD101

Except the Exorcism movie. I can't recall which one that is.

What's next? Goyer playing the lead cenobite as well?!

I don't think Barker's health is the best. He was interviewed for the recent Candyman blu-ray release and his voice was better, but he's aged A LOT.

So, the visionary writer/director of The Unborn is handling this.

We're screwed.
