This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]538321[/split]
Hmmm I disagree i09. The appellation "master" certainly doesn't denote that Alfred regards him as a an equal. I just see that knowing smile as a "he doesn't know I'm technically just a kid from Kansas and not some big-shot and it's funny and humbling for him to address me with such reverence".

But Alfred would know that if he his also calling him "Kent."
My take on Clark's expression is of slight surprise and amusement that Alfred simultaneously called him "Master" and "Kent." So formal and informal at the same time. But also, the subtle reverence or respect that Alfred shows before he addresses Clark through his non verbal cues must have registered with Clark as well.
Addressing someone by their last name is pretty formal

When I say "equal" I meant not as a "God" but as a fellow human being. Also love Supes' smile there, and I agree with why he did. Such a great character moment!
It's funny how a discussion can start out of pretty much anything here
I agree with this, the smile to me read immediately as "oh, silly Alfred calling me 'master'..." t:
FWIW, I agree!
What I meant was the difference between when Superman's apprehensiveness when given respect as a godlike figure, against the humbleness he shows, when he is given respect as a fellow man.
Because throughout his life he has been on the fringes, lonely and alone. That feeling of loneliness and detachment grew further in BvS, so I think even minor things like these mean a lot to him!
Just my take, maybe Im reading too much into it.
I think what some people are forgetting from Cavills POV with Superman is he loves the character and he loves fern the custodian for the character. If WBs still wants him (which is the real question) then I have zero doubts about Henry still been Supes. Theres no way Cavill is walking away from Superman if its up to him.
So Deadpool was the one responsible for the ****** CGI of moustache removal...
My single fave Cavill scene from JL. The shot of him standing over Steppenwolf is epic.
