Here We Go Again Part 3: New Welling As Superman Rumors?

Wasn't Brainiac at one time the rumored villain? I think it'd be cool if they made him look like he did in "Superman: Brainiac" by Geoff Johns. I think Snyder could make it work. I wouldn't mind Zod. I'm just still excited we're getting a new Supes movie! :D

From my understanding about them not bringing Smallville to the big screen. They mean a SMALLVILLE film with the same producers and crew making the film and what not, right? They didn't mean Tom and Erica couldn't be in the new film.

I wouldn't mind Zod if done right, with a cool fight scene. I'd love it if foomsday was the bad guy

For nostalgia's sake, and because I love this picture.

There was a rumor of lex and brainiac mmonths ago. But things can change all the time. Still hoping they don't be lazy and have zod as main villain. Sure they can do more with him. But on other hand this film could be wb last shot with superman and I rather see a foe who didn't get time to shine yet. Though nods to zod would be good. Then also have lex around to.

Even if Welling is at the top of WB's wish list doesn't mean he'll do it.

I, as much as th enext Smallville fan, want nothing more than for Welling to finally put the dang suite on and be done with it. I hate that he said he didn't want to be type cast. Wait? He played Clark for 10 years, what does he thin he is? If he didn't want to be type cast he should of left the show 5 years ago. Did a Supes movie at that point and never did one again.

But that's just my 2 cents.

I think his opinion has changed over the years. Seems like he wants to be behind the camera more than in front of it now.

But, with that said. If this is going to be a one-off Superman film, and not a trilogy, I think Welling would be more interested in it. But who knows.

Maybe WB will make an offer he can't refuse...:woot:

Well I am sure wb wants a series that works for supes on screen. But yea right now this one is there last shot so it needs to be good. In the event things go south come 2013 and court rulings with shuster's heirs and all that. Hopefully things will be good for all parties and we get more supes films.

So I guess the older Superman theory is out the window. :csad:

As cool as an older/mature supes would be. I stillrather see a fresh supes with some origin talked about so we see how/way this new film is to older takes on supes.

I wouldnt have mind hamm myself if they were doing a mature supes.

I can still see it being somewhat like "Birthright" though. Early days of Superman... Sounds awesome to me.

French site, Filmsactu.com caught up with Zack Snyder during his European tour to promote his animate film "Legend of the Guardians", and asked him about Superman, and what the movie will be about. Here's his reponse translated from French...

"As I already explained, the film will be focused on the early days of Superman. It will not have links with the other films. This will not be a remake. Again, even though I can't talk about the story, I can assure you that this new Superman will not be based on any particular comic book."

This puts to bed any speculation that this new movie would be based on either Mark Waid's "Superman: Birthright" or John Byrne's "Man of Steel" miniseries.

(On a side note, this project seems perfect for Tom since the show will end with him becoming Superman, the movie can pick up right where the show ends.)

Gotta say: After tonights episode Homecoming, how can anyone doubt Welling?

Maybe TheCW will be smart and commission some DTVs when the show ends. Doubt it but has happened with other shows.
