Well to bring some new news in the thread the calergy(spelling?) Herald is reporting the reboot could possibly be shooting some scenes in the alberta, canada area. But the person the herald talked to wasn't sure if its for superman reboot, or possibly some other film.

That news made SHH headlines so they must be pretty positive it's the Superman movie they're talking about.

Ya probably is, I was just saying within the herald article the film person they talked to wasn't totally sure. Also again saw another la times article mentioning joe m name some more. It is looking he is a serious contender at the moment.

Did people really think Welling would get the part? Anyway, I'm sure a lot of people are excited about Cavill since he's been a fan favorite for so long. Congrats to him.

im wondering how many restrictions will be in place by smallvilles season finale? this could be a bad sign for some of us fans.

Not a fan of Cavill. He's far to posh and cold to play Clark Kent. Hope he proves me wrong but I think it's a poor choice.

The timing is bad. I doubt we'll see Welling in the costume at all now.

Interesting choice as he was considered to play Superman in developments by McG and Brett Ratner. He was also considered for Superman Returns until it fell through by Brandon Routh's casting. I hope he can pull off both Superman and Clark Kent. I also hope this doesn't affect Smallville as WB needs to let the show end the way it's meant to end with Clark wearing the suit in the series finale.

In a way, Tom is probably glad that he's not playing Superman because he wants to avoid being typecast and the Superman curse. He has Hellcats in production. When Smallville ends, Tom will have passed to torch to Henry Cavill.

I don't think there are any restrictions. Casting Superman in a film does not magically put restrictions on other stuff all of a sudden.

I wanted Joe, Tom, or Henry to get the part. I'm very happy that one of them got it! I have no doubts he'll do a great job as Clark Kent/Superman.

While I always wanted TW for the role, I can definitely live with Cavill and he's been my number 2 choice for a while now that he's matured. He was awesome in The Tudors. I'm just really glad they werent dumb enough to cast Routh again. (Nothing personal against the guy, its just that anything involved with Singer's movie needed to go away for good.)
