He's The Secret Weapon... David Ayer IS the Director and Script Writer

I know everyone wants her for Harley, who wasn't listed anyway, but I want Robbie as another unlisted character Nightshade.

Nobody outside of comic fans really knows these guys, but they'll need GOTG style casting to actually garner interest.

Agreed charlton comics characters are underused in the dcu

I hope Suicide Squad is rated R. This is a movie about a bunch of murderous villains working together. I love Guardians of the Galaxy but I hope they go in the opposite direction for Task Force X. Gimme violence, sex, foul language. Make this the "adult section" of the DC movie universe lol

Not gonna happen but a man can dream

I would be shocked if it wasn't R. David Ayer has made 2 PG-13 movies in his career and they were basically his first 2. This isn't going to have a $100 million+ budget probably not even over 70 so I could easily see them going R.

This movie will be PG-13.

Fans always get their hopes up for an R-rating and then act shocked when that isn't the case.

And, quite frankly, this movie doesn't need to be R. So I can have more F bombs? More gore? PG-13 movies can be quite violent and filled with potty-mouth characters.

I'm hoping for a smart script with interesting characters.

That's better :D

If she is, I won't complain, but I'm rooting for her to be Nightshade. And personally I want only one of Deathstroke or Deadshot not both. I'd replace one of them with Nemesis (played by Gosling of the rumoured actors).

Is it possible Margot will be Vixen...would WB whitewash the character?

I highly doubt that.

I also just don't see a Suicide Squad movie without Bronze Tiger and Deadshot.

So I could see the frame of thinking probably being

Gosling: Rick Flagg, Jr.
Robbie: Harley Quinn
Hardy: Deadshot
Smith: Bronze Tiger

This Deathstroke and Black Manta business I think is kinda moot. Deathstroke and Black Manta both function way better on their own and not within a team dynamic anyway. Which is why using them in the Squad was never even considered prior to The New 52.

There was a surprising amount of nudity and sex references in the Assault on Arkham Suicide Squad movie that came out not too long ago. And then there was the violence.

Maybe people are thinking or hoping this film will travel in that direction? I would rather it not, but I have no say in it either way.

Margot would be a bit depressing for me as I really wanted her to play Wonder Woman, given she's the spitting image of an Alex Ross painting.

Robbie is way prettier than Ross' Wonder Woman. Sometimes Ross' Wonder Woman looks like a man

I like Ryan Gosling, loved Drive and I actually like Only God Forgives, but please stop offering him these roles. He never takes them and probably never will.

Why NOT put her on the team? See, I can just as easily turn that argument around. And she doesn't NEED the Joker, I enjoy seeing her do her own stuff.

What does she bring to the team?

Why would it be far fetched as R? it could be PG-13 could be R. I think its more likely to be R especially with the director, the movie isn't going to have a high budget, WB puts out R rated movies all the time.......

Of the 4 movies they have in theaters right now 3 are R. Constantine was R, Watchmen was R, I don't see how its crazy at all

Her fanbase. I have always hated that character with a passion but I'm objective enough to recognize that DC Entertainment is a business. It makes business sense to link their more popular IP's with their lesser known ones to appeal to a wider audience. This is why Harley was put in the Suicide Squad book 3 years ago in the first place.

Mind you since the launch of her solo book which is either in the top 4 at it's best or top 15 at it's worst out of 200 best sellers every month since it's launch that hasn't helped the SS much anymore. However Harley clearly has a pretty rabid fanbase that could help with the mass appeal of a Suicide Squad movie.

The same fanbase who'll most likely watch the film anyway? Given how this film is turning out thus far, it's pretty clear the fanbase is not of much importance in the grand scheme of things for WB.

I'm talking about within the context of the team. Why would Amanda Waller be comfortable enough to have such a crazy person working for her? I sort of understood it for the recent DTV given that particular story. But, in general, what does she have to offer?

No they likely won't see it without her in it. Harley Quinn fans and DC Comics are not interchangeable. As a matter of fact many DC fans (like myself) can't stand Harley Quinn at all and vice versa.

Even though she's a complete lunatic she is still a trained psychologist who could help a team of mostly cold blooded and sociopathic people learn to cope with more psychologically pressing situations. LOL @ Amanda Waller being "comfortable enough" no situation is too uncomfortable for The Wall. She's cold as ice and more apathetic than even most members of task force x.

That's my point. She's a lunatic. Every one else are just simply evil guys with certain skills and/or powers that are obliviously useful given a particular mission. They're not exactly wildcards are anything like that.

I still don't see what she brings to the table that someone else more "trustworthy" or "competent" could. It's why I sort of understand why she was in DTV even though I viewed it as fan service and was pretty sure Waller could've done the mission without using her. What do they do with her in the comics?

I can't really say cause I dropped New 52 Suicide Squad with issue 2. However as I said before being a trained psychologist she is capable of being empathetic and expressing emotions that are completely foreign to the rest of the team. Which could prove to be beneficial in certain missions.

What emotions would those be and why would they be needed?
