I think Lionel is being possesed by Zod (controlling him remotely from the Phantom Zone). The Jor-El program (he really isn't Jor-El, just the ship's computer which has been imprinted with Jor-El's personality) would kill someoen to help Clark.

Yes it was just incredibly well-done. WB tried and failed for years to do a Death of Superman film but leave it to SV to nail it. From beginning to end it was brilliantly conceived.

I loved the "empty tomb" scene in the hospital as well as Clark's reappearance at the Kent Farm. Incredible. And the scene with Lana was awesome. Rock song worked great.

TW/Clark is really starting to develop that otherworldly Superman presence. I love how all those around him are questioning his humanity.

This episode was profoundly deep and the highlight of the entire series thus far, even moreso than the obligatory Reeve episodes.
Yeah, have to admit, the Christ metaphors were all there. But that wasn't what made it such a fantastic episode (for me.) I think it was the full circle journey that Clark took in one ep. Plus the writing, the acting, the FX... everything just worked beautifully.

I have a question though. Anybody know why they put Lionel in his full suit and Clark in his typical red and blue in the FOS? Was that supposed to be a dream sequence, or did it actually happen? Clark was wearing a light blue shirt when he was shot, and that was removed on the hospital table. Lionel was wearing general hospital clothing - he was in a padded room after all. So what's with the wardrobe change for the FOS scenes? I'm kinda confused about that.

I love how Lex is planting those lovely little seeds of distrust in Lana. He's no dummy and Clark's little bleeding incident didn't fool him a bit. His whole demeanor is different this season. Michael has really gotten that whole evil incarnate thing down. I'm just so geeked out.

Clark jumps really high and he's starting to show that serious inner conflict that so many people think was missing last season. It's going to be such a good time to be a Smallville fan. I'll just say I am very happy. Oh and I think it may be Chloe that bites it, but not for awhile.

Good question. He was still wearing the red jacket with the blue shirt when he showed up back at home just a little worse for wear and Lionel was wearing the same suit at the mansion.

Braniac wants to SAVE the Planet Earth...
...by eliminating its human infestation. THAT's what Jor-El is concerned about.

If you read the Spoilers Braniac is going to tell Clark what REALLY happened & WHY Krypton blew up & Braniac does NOT want the same thing happening to Earth so yes he knows Clark is Kal El. Braniac wants to SAVE the Planet Earth.

Um... isn't ^ exactly the opposite of Braniacs intentions throughout the comics & cartoon?

Well Jor-El arranged the situation, so I think we can assume that he included proper wardrobe along with everything else. They were both given what could be considered "typical" outfits for Clark and Lionel.

No. Braniac wants to make everything perfect. It's just his idea of perfect entails eliminating everything that is imperfect, e/i humanity.

Lovin' this season and this episode was great. They're 3 out of 3 so far and with Aquaman next week we should go 4 for 4 if Flash was any indication. The scene with Chloe in the barn at the end was great, really lovin' the new dynamic of their relationship. I'm not sure who's gonna be sacrificed, Chloe would be the obvious bet, but she's in the credits, so unless that plot point's dragged out all season I can't see her dying. Also, Clark should get ready for round two with Zod's disciples after that space nuke.

I think I'm still hyperventilating.

From the adorable opening scene.. to Clark falling in slo-mo, bleeding from the mouth :( ... to him flat-lining...to the FOS and Jornel (that's for Hulk;))... to his JUMP/FLIGHT onto a **&$^# missile!!!

LOL :D I was going to call it "Lion-El" but I think that was a Thundercat?

Oh yeah forgot about that. It is obvious that thing will break the mirror

I hope Round 2 is better

Either way he wants to SAVE it :p

We already have spoilers up to episode 10 (excluding 8&9), and I dont see any confrontation between Braniac and Clark...

Don't you guys and gals find it odd that they are taking this new approach by building up tension, but with Braniac & Clark, there seems to be NO tension at all? Does that mean Braniac VS Clark comes in season 6?

No, he'll be in this season. I think they're going to take the aproach that Buffy did with villains. Start with a bucnh of stand alone or loosly connected episodes, and slowly introduce the big bad, building up to a huge show down.

I wonder if Lionel & Clark will be seen hanging out a bit more as no one else knows Lionel is Jor El & maybe Clark can ask about Krypton a little here & there. With Jor El & Braniac Clark has some great opportunities to learn about his orgins

They fight in the FOS between episode 8 and 10. Marsters confirmed it in a interview.

Maybe Masters can add in some classic Spike fight moves & looks as a little homage to his Spike Character

So he had a change of clothing all set aside and waiting for them in the caves? And he physically changed Clark's clothes?

I think we're missing something. At least *I'm* missing something. It's not a big deal - I'm just trying to understand WHY. Clark and Lionel could have easily "beamed" to the FOS as they were. There really was no need to change clothes - nor was there time. When Clark died, the missile was 30 seconds from launch. All that dialog at the FOS and Clark beaming (or running?) back to Kansas happened in 30 seconds? Meh. I don't think so. LOL They both obviously changed since both were wearing the same clothes in the next scene, albeit Clark's were quite tattered.

I dunno. There's something missing in the continuity there, but the episode was soooo fantastic, I'm just gonna ignore it.

Well that was an intense episode....I will admit I teared up during the hospital scene.
When Clark went after the rocket...Ok hold on to your hats......That was SUPERMAN!
I was very impressed with this episode!

Oh yeah and about the episode... When Clark got back to SV with his powers and the nuke went off, I jumped up and starting screaming "he's going to catch the ****ing nuke!" At that point my wife looked at me, and I think she regretted ever knowing me, but screw it, cause that was DAMN cool. The best part was I had read all the spoilers and was totally not expecting it, it was like the leap to the truck in "Lucy" only ten times better and not sandwiched into a crap episode

A lot of symbolism in this one too with the whole resurrection, as if we needed any more Christ similarities (Lana is SO Mary Magdalene in this episode). I also got a bit of a Superman the movie vibe when he chucked the nuke out into space and it exploded. Remember that's what freed Zod from the Phantom Zone.. who knows?

They still have 12 more episodes after that. Be patient.
