I was reading about this on Reset Era. smh

yeah haha it is. you said it best in the Last of Us 2 thread, bigotry is not allowed. Do you post there too?
Nah. I tried to sign up once and it for reason it wasn't working. By the time that was over, I was done with my need to rant. :o

That said, I do enjoy reading the posts there. It's a nice contrast to the reaction you might see on Reddit or even Twitter.

So the moral of this story is Harry Potter is full of horrible ****ing people. Remember when people tried to act like being a supporter of Gamer Gate didn't make you a sexist piece of ****? Good times, good times.

Moral of the story is harry potter isn't immune to humanity's stupidity. The video game industry, like most industries, has employee's with awful opinions and questionable private lives.

Trump or general rightwing voters have worked on every movie and video game most of us have seen in the past 10 years unfortunately. This guy was just one of the really loud ones on the internet. There’s tens of millions of ‘em out there. People like Troy and Carano are just the tips of the icebergs.

When I tried to explain to Snow that Reset Era was a decent place, she didn't believe me at first. A decent community to actually talk about games? Doesn't exist! :hehe:
It's like the antidote to Gamergate. And it is a Unicorn on the internet. A place where video game discussion doesn't immediately devolve into the usual cesspool of bigotry, racism, mysogny and hate because they did something different. It's not perfect by any means but when compared to something like Reddit? Yeah, that is a nicer community than most.

I am actually looking forward to this game. I find it funny that people are trying to get this game "cancelled" because a person has an opinion they don't agree with. Who cares?! I disagree with 99% of people in Hollywood yet i still watch all kinds of movies and tv shows.

I can't speak for anyone else, but even tho the game looks amazing, it's hard not to feel some type of way about it when the person who created this world is such a despicable person.

It just feels off.

Then don't buy it. JK Rowling might have created Wizarding World but hundreds of people are also putting their work into this game. You don't need to support the game, but I personally won't cancel something that other people have put effort in creating a game like this, just because 1 person said ****** things online. This game was already under production before JK Rowling posted those hateful tweets.

Also didn't you suggest Mcu to emulate Harry Potter this month for the X-Men? Oh okay.

"An opinion" is an interesting way of describing very apparent bigotry. As to who cares? Well, read the thread.

People’s right to an opinion is equal. This does not mean all opinions are equal. If people choose not to support a product based on someone’s opinion, that is also perfectly allowable choice. Furthermore, I haven’t seen anyone attacking the “game” itself, just a person behind the development of the game, and the person who is in charge of the IP.

"Don't worry, you can play as a trans character when buying the game that will continue to fund that famous transphobe."

It’s such a very weird paradoxical situation to be put in. On the one hand, I want to show publishers and developers that being inclusive to the trans community is a financially sound endeavor, on the other hand I don’t want to line the pockets of a known transphobe.

That’s all completely removed from how workers are treated in the gaming industry, and they’ll be the ones punished if a game doesn’t do well.

Within the universe, that's interesting. Would it be that you can change your character's gender and look through magic, like you undergo a magical transformation after you complete character creation?

I never said people weren't allowed to voice their opinions or to not support this game. I am firmly against that type of thinking, it's your money do what you want. I will be buying this game if it is any good.

Yeah i haven't seen any of his videos but i read a few articles about it. None of them show direct quotes they just show a few video titels and say he was anti sjw. That alone to me does not make him an apparent bigot but it's cool. We can disagree on this.

So what kept you from watching a video or reading his tweets? You don't want to do the work, but you also want to tells us you don't think he's a bigot. Always an interesting stance to take.

This is a WB published game based on JK Rowling's work so controversy was sadly inevitable.

For conflicted gamers, there is a small positive. Separating content from its creators is always complicated, but games have a built-in option to play the game while choosing not to support problematic people. Just wait a couple of days and buy it second hand.

Are there many well known devs who are as blatant or more than this guy?

Yeah it leaves you in a really unpleasent place because you either hurt the good people or you give Money to the bad.
I dont know what i will do when this comes out.

On a slightly off topic note...ive been looking at videos of all kinds of character creators in games from the past and present.
And its so weird to see that you can in many of them create characters that look so alien, so crazy and messed up...yet still you firstly have to choose between a male and female.
Its so strange to see that this is where games drew a line in the sand.
