I think Sanjuro became my favorite movie. That ending was heartwarming, Sanjuro tells the 9 samurai to stop following him and then when he looks behind to see them bowing to him he tells them "see ya around".

I think Sanjuro became my favorite movie. That ending was heartwarming, Sanjuro tells the 9 samurai to stop following him and then when he looks behind to see them bowing to him he tells them "see ya around".

Glad you liked it. YOJIMBO is filled with a lot of gallows humor, SANJURO for lack of more a more exacting description is a bit "lighter" in comparison. Though naive there are more "good" characters for Mifune to interact with, which changes the dynamic from the previous film. And of course the crazy sword draw at the end is just all sorts of over the top beautiful.

Yup. It's from Virtuosity, one of the first movies I ever saw him in.

I haven't seen that in years....need to look for it.

I have the DVD but haven't watched it ages myself.

It's so awesomely terrible, I might have to watch it again, too.

Glad you liked it. YOJIMBO is filled with a lot of gallows humor, SANJURO for lack of more a more exacting description is a bit "lighter" in comparison. Though naive there are more "good" characters for Mifune to interact with, which changes the dynamic from the previous film. And of course the crazy sword draw at the end is just all sorts of over the top beautiful.

It's amazing how a mistake involving a blood pump created the style of people spraying gallons of blood.

Can I find these in Criterion collection editions? If not, what's the highest quality bluray release you'd recommend?
