Horizon Horizon: Zero Dawn

Game Informer's magazine I think 2 issues ago had a big spread in it about this game. It was a great read and got me even more excited for this.

PlayStation - Horizon Zero Dawn - Countdown Trailer | PS4

This looks like Open World Game: The Game to me. Definitely gonna wait for this.

with Mass Effect coming out ( hopefully ) in Spring 2017, I think I'll hold off on Horizon, too. I also have a huge backlog of games to get to, including Rise and Skyrim.

so, I might hold off on Horizon until closer to BF/Xmas time. want to see the reviews for it, too.

the ending is rumored to have leaked on 4chan, here it is
[blackout]The story twist is that this is the second cycle in this world. The main character, Aloy, discovers by visiting the Ancient Ruins of civilization at the end of the game that the 'humans' you see walking around, including you, are simply bio-machines from the first cycle that used biomatter to replicate, like humans reproduce. Humanity has been gone EVEN LONGER than we, the players, think at first. The corruption is never fully explained, it's just established that it's from an unknown source within the ruins, but there's a hint it might have more importance in a sequel. The ending has Aloy basically choose between wiping out the robots or the bio-machines, since the robots were initially programmed by the original humans to wipe out the living creatures the bio-machines that yearned to live like humans hundreds of thousands of years ago feed off.

Zero Dawn is the name of the software found in a huge building in the Ancient Ruins that can shut off the beings roaming the world or your own race

Game takes 20 hours to complete, around 45 hours to 100%, difficulty level Zero Dawn unlocked upon completion, makes every robot creature corrupted, with a few different AI moves and loot

No story DLC planned, but an arena mode will come in Q2-Q3 2017

You can override pretty much any creature in the game. The flying creature will actually let you fly around the map, which is pretty cool. It's one of the last things you learn in the game

The world is huge. It's Witcher 3's Velen huge, with no oceans as a cheat to increase size. Desert, Tropical forest, hills, ancient ruins, snow mountains are the 'biomes'. Feels like a very traditional RPG, which is surprising to see coming from Guerrilla[/blackout]

that's the 1st time I think I've seen melee combat.

There's like 50 hours of gameplay and story and story development to sit through before knowing whether the ending works or not.

Video games have a much longer road than movies or even a lot of TV shows.

I'm not going to read any alleged ending - don't see the point when so little is known about the story as it is.

Eh depends on how much of it is open world busywork and whether or not the story is actually competently told and written. Based on this studios previous work, I have incredibly low expectations.

PlayStation - Horizon Zero Dawn - Story Trailer | PS4

To learn about a new threat to her tribe, Aloy will embark on a dangerous journey that will reveal a dark plot that stands to change her world forever.

I'll pick this up when it comes out, but gawd my backlog is getting pretty bad at this point. I still have to finish Final Fantasy XV! I really like the dungeons in that game, which is where my quibble with this game (HZD) lies...it has not become apparent that there's any user-explorable dungeons in the game...just many cutscenes where Aloy is in a cave or underground for a story segment. I haven't seen any gameplay videos inside of dungeons.

Asked about the presence of “dungeons,” Gonzales responded that the breath of the world is also “matched by the depth and history of it,” and there are “buried secrets” that Aloy will have to bring to light.

Some of the previews released today mention a user-explorable dungeon type of area.

Seeing TV ads for this now. Last night they ran some ads during the Bellator MMA fight card on SPIKE.

Watching the reviews, I did not realize how much this game looks like Tomb Raider in terms of gameplay. Tomb Raider mixed with the Ubisoft formula.
