Opinions are only as good as those that are backed up so if a CREATIONIST has a backed up opinion then it should be respected that was my point, and my point address to the maker of this thread. I'm not a creationist though so I'd feel inadequate trying to make a case for them since my point was that they should respected.

However religion, at least for me, is not about facts it's about truth. I'm a christian because there something very powerful in what Jesus said, not the fact he could do parlour tricks but about forgiving each other and what not. That is what's important to me, not how the earth was created.

yet, so far nothing has "backed up"creationism, see? God could solve this riddle by simple telling us all, right now, in a soothing compassionate voice that rang in our heads and made us happy to simply listen.
he could tells us to love and respect each other because we are all his children, he could tell us many things, like he used to tell people all the time in the bible ( rape and kill in my name, kill your son if you love me. you know the drill) but he wont.

Again, God gave us free will. He lets be responsible for our own actions, and in the end we either face the perks or the consequnces. God doesn't let people go unpunished for their wrongdoings. The woman sinned by polluting her God-given body, and she suffered the consequneces.

Anyway, I'm not arguing anymore, because despite my best efforts to come up with a reasonable answer, you'll let it slide by and continue to paint us people of faith as illogical idiots. I have better things to do. Like take advantage of my God-given ability to go to sleep.

we have genes that a) do nothing b) come from ancestors that were different species like lizards or whatever c) are shared by other animals

I hate arguing over evolution but I'm just curious why people don't believe in it when the proof is in the pudding. Our genes are like a history book for evolution.

They might be kind of stubborn. They think it goes against there beliefs. I'm Catholic myself and I believe in evolution. But others might think it's God "testing" them to see if they believe that God's method was instant or evolution to create us...

I just wonder why God would create the first man through a flawed process, not to mention allow him to come into being over a time period of billions of years. If God controls evolution, it makes him seem useless in a sense. I'd like to think that God created man through through his personal touch and that things like disease came about as man began to poison the environment God gave them.

I meant God wouldn't use a process that was flawed to create the world and its inhabitants. I believe that either disease came about as a result of Man's sin or the gradual pollution of the environment over time.

So wait how can free will exist if we have things like mental illness and birth defects that can affect mental abilities? Can one have free will if they are too insane to tell the difference between right and wrong or doesn't have the mental abilities to understand these concepts?
