How come Marvel always gets so lucky????

Because they have no balls to see if anything besides S/B work... DC is just afraid.
Making Watchmen as a very dark big budget R-rated superhero epic actually took a lot of balls. It didn't work out how they'd hoped in box office terms, but it was a ballsy move to make that film nonetheless. Also, you're ignoring the fact that they have Green Lantern in the pipeline as one of their tentpole releases for summer 2011. That's rather a huge step forward for DC superheroes on screen in terms of expanding beyond Superman and Batman, right?

I wouldnt even try, GL. I figure Most people who come to the DC films board are marvel fans or whiny idiots who purposely ignore the truth in order to whine some more.

It's obvious that Marvel is moving faster than DC at this stuff. Why, Marvel has one whole movie in theaters this year and zero tv shows, while DC only has three movies in theaters and two tv shows. I mean...that's all the proof you need that Marvel is dominating DC.

/Marvel fanboy mentality

I'm starting to notice that whenever posts actually make sense, no one responds to them, lol.

You know it's cool and all that Warner Bros lets films like "Jonah Hex", "V for Vendetta", "Watchmen" and all those cool project, but I mean people really want to see the BIG heroes already. It's great Warner Bros is finally looking at other characters such as The Green Lantern besides having the usually "Batman/Superman". Not saying I hate that, because damn the Nolan films are good and so were the burton ones but Im crossing my fingers and hoping the Superman Reboot will turn out good.

You could make a legit case that despite the sheer number of films Marvel has thrown at us over the last decade or so, DC has actually made the better films.

I find Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and Constantine way more daring and interesting films than anything Marvel has put out. The only that's close, fans hated, and that was Ang Lee's Hulk.

Personally, I just wouldn't get bent out of shape based on the hype Marvel has generated. Look at the output more than anything.

It basically says that in this long, cinematic battle, they're about even.

personally I think in the last decade with the exception of BB and TDK, DC movies have ranged from average to downright aweful and I include watchmen in that.

i wouldn't say they're lucky they just want to do it. sadly DC/warners don't want to take the chance with the minor characters.

if GL doesn't do huge money they'll pull the plug and go back to just bats and supes

I've just read that after the brave and the bold, DC's next big animated tv series is...

*drumroll*

...ANOTHER batman cartoon!!

ha ha gotta laugh.

okay, to be fair DC are doing a green lantern series and young justice.

I wouldn't say DC/WB don't want to take the chance. They have taken chances. They're just unwilling to do it at the speed at which Marvel does it. And, personally, I don't blame them.

Flash will happen. But, and I've always believe this, Wonder Woman is DC/WB trump card.

Marvel doesn't have a female lead like that in their stable. If DC/WB can pull off an epic Wonder Woman film that gets both men and women seriously interested and excited, in my opinion, they've got Marvel beat.

Wonder Woman is the key.

I think the reason marvel have got alot of movies out is lots of studios have the movie rights

sony - spidey
FF, daredevil - fox
blade -new line

so those studios finance the movies themselves. in the case of DC, DC own most of their properties so have to finance the movies themselves meaning one major DC movie a year (with their big guns bats, supes, GL, flash WW)with lots of small ones (JH, losers, red).

The last point kinda obliterates the first one. Anyway, the new Batman series is only in early development. The next two DC animated series will be Young Justice, which debuts this fall, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series, which debuts fall 2011.

Warner Animation is going to keep Batman on the air pretty much continually since the character makes so much money for them. The same goes for Marvel and Spider-Man (Marvel has Ultimate Spider-Man in development to replace Spectacular Spider-Man).

As for the quality of DC films, the aggregate quality has been high in my opinion from 2005 to the present, with it seems one major exception (that being Jonah Hex, which I haven't seen yet). Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Watchmen are amongst the best superhero films ever made. I'll take films at a slower pace if they can match that quality. But I think the pace of DC superhero films will pick up as DC Entertainment's influence takes hold.

watchmen amoung the best superhero movies ever made? are being serious?

The one the most ambitious. Like Dark Knight, it takes some serious chances within the narrative. Marvel hasn't done that yet. The closet they've come with X2 and Lee's Hulk.

^^^
To each his own, even though I find that a hard view to comprehend.

I truly wish this board werent infected by marvel zombies. The DC films board would be a better place because of it.

Tough day yesterday, huh The Baitman?

Two things I have to comment about reading the whole thread today. "Wonder Woman" is the key? Are you on crack? She's been a mess in the comics for years now. Love her new threads, btw.

The other thing is the TV stuff. Yes, DC has done much more. But the quality has been terrible, unless you are a 13 year old girl. Evening soap opera stuff.

On the SM3 TDK, I disliked both. BB was much better with the exception of the Hong Gong stuff.

The Baitman; no one responds to your posts because you've blown any credibility you may have had looooong ago. Btw per you're rant last April I waited all weekend for the BIG DC stuff. Video Games??? That was it? The Adam West avatar fits you best O'l chum(p).

Why is it that when people talk about movies based off DC properties, they fail to mention League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (it was crap), A History of Violence, The Sprirt (crap, but comic is made by DC now), Road to Perdition and the upcoming Red?

Some people only focus on DC Universe superheroes. Nothing else matters to them for reason.

Superman has been on tv in one form or another since 1988.

Ruby-Spears Superman
Superboy
Lois & Clark
Superman: Animated Series
Justice League/Unlimited
Smallville

I have no real point, I just find it interesting. :yay:

Smallville for the most part... :woot:

I find it interested that the title, altho not Superman, still starts with S.

Not sure if thats intentional, but it helps to identify it as a Superman show
