How do you feel about the family friendly-ness of the Hype?

Yeah but the issue has always been subjectiveness. An offensive joke may not be offensive to you LS, but a more, I guess, "prudish" mod may delete it. And a more "power go to the head" mod, might infract said person for making an offensive joke.

I remember, posting a non sanctioned link or something. I was warned in the thread by a mod. I didn't change it right away and another mod came in and infracted me.

It's inconsistency.

But honestly, SHH is more family friendly than locker room. And it's that environment that did force a lot of members out. And maybe that's the way a lot of people like. You have less controversial posters, there will be less people causing trouble.

Mods or even Hypsters that fall into the "prude" or "power go to the head" categories should be opened up like a tin of baked beans, seen?

It should be said at least once a year, but I'd like to thank the mods for bearing with me because I'm not the best with self-censorship at the best of times and while I would prefer that the place have a bit higher than a PG-13 rating I think they've been pretty cool with seeing that for the most part I don't mean any major offence and just have difficulties making the adjustment to that level...

I've come to realize that the overall amount of "rude meanies " just revolves around the Community. Every other board, I've came across really nice people.

ahhh but Alex The Great, the trick there is that they are "innuendos". If you're old enough to understand what I'm talking about your innocence won't be damaged, if you're too young (or inexperienced) it will go right over your head and you'll just think I have a weird turn of phrase (not to mention some other weird turns I can do )

That's true. This also makes me think that a lot of the reason there are so many inconsistencies is due to globals acting frequently in areas unassigned to them. Globals can obviously be very helpful, too, as one moderator can not watch over a section, let alone several, all day long. But I think if the designated moderator could handle most situations, especially petty flaming and trolling, maybe the Hype! would be far better off. Afterall, there's a reason certain people are given certain forums to take care of.

Aye...but can you imagine what Hype Community would be like if I had things 100% my way? No children under 18 would be able to step foot in this place....

The Hype is awesome. Much better than that other site. If the Hype as it is now is "family friendly" then that's ok with me.

i think that's where it hurts the hype most. the two forums should not be compared imo. they're not in competition with each other anymore than SHH is in the running with sohh.com or any other forum. sure, some of the users are the same, but there's no need to compare the two. both can stand on their own

I think comparing two different forums, with two different sets of rules is a fair comparison. As well as stating which one I prefer.

Basically, there's the Hype!, which, of course, we're all familiar with, and then there's Le Soft Parade which is basically your average forum minus (most) rules, plus profanity, a sex forum and banned Hype! members.

But they are in no way affiliated with each other... not anymore, anyway. It's not an alternative to the Hype!, and it's not really reminiscent of the "golden days" of the Hype!, either. It's its own thing.

i don't have a problem with that at all Squirrel. you're more than welcome to have your opinion. it just feels like LSP and SHH are always compared, like they're WWF and UFC or something

there are forums i've seen that are even less tame than LSP
