The Dark Knight How good a fighter should the Joker be?

I've seen various posts with people saying they want the Joker to be a good fighter and be able to hold his own against Batman.....WHY?!? I absolutely hated "THE BATMAN'S" portrayal of Joker. Joker shouldn't be worth **** in a fair fight against Bats, but that's what makes him so awesome. It's never a fair fight, he has too many damn tricks up his sleeve and it's just unrealistic for him to hold his own someone who has trained as much as Batman. I want the Joker to be a weakling, a worthless crap in a fair fight but so tricky and crazy that he never has to fight a fair fight.

He should be an average fighter at best. The reason he has the upper hand is b/c he controls the fight environment.

The Joker´s not a martial artist or something, but his insane intensity is known to make him pretty strong in a fight.

He should be strong and have a good deal of brawling/boxing skill. This is one of the reason I believe that picked someone with Ledger's build.

The Joker needs to fight good, but not Kung-Fu Tai Chi or anything like that. His only fighting style should be crazy.

I agree, I don't think the Joker should be a complete weakling - he's not the Scarecrow. He may not have great martial arts skills but he should be able to hurt Batman if he catches him off-guard. Unlike someone like the scarecrow, or even the Riddler, he does actually have a significant physical dominance over his victims.

Yea, kind of a Sherlock Holmes thing, there when he needs it, but not relying on it. He's doing some pretty physical scenes so can't be a pushover, but his success should come from his viciousness rather than any training or skill

How so? I've never seen the Joker actually dominate anybody in a fair fight.

Now, for the topic... The Joker should be way behind Batman, as far as we talk about fight skills, but still he shouldn't be a total weakling. Maybe using weapons like guns, crowbars, etc. should equal the things when he encounter Bats.

Batman got a good straight beating from Joker in Batman #1, don't think they'll go that far after emphasising Bruce's skills so much in BB

He should fight like a cheater, using weapons, poking Batman in the eyes, using anything to his advantage, because he's much weaker than him and much less skilled as well.

I think Joker should be a "bad" fighter, in the sense that he is not logical. But he is insane and he is not afraid to throw a punch, even if he knows it'll brake his hand. I don't want to see joker out punch/fight Batman with out using some kind of trickery or weapon.
