Do Canadians really sound like James Van Der Beek? When he does his accent, it sometimes sounds more Irish or Scottish. I've never heard any Canadian like that.

Only ever heard like two people in my life talk like that. The rest of us sound pretty normal.

American TV actually mixes two different Canadian accents. They take the old-time-y accents from the maritimes and merge it with bum-**** nowhere prairie accents. For the most part, Ontarians sound like east-coast Americans, and people from BC sound like people from the west-coast States.

In terms of accents overall, I think we're more diverse. Even just pronouncing the word "diverse" or "pronouncing" differs from person to person, or the pronunciation of "sorry" "bagel" "baguette" "exam" - that's all in a single city. There was a word that apparently I said differently than the rest of my friends. I can't remember what it is right now though...

I've met enough Canadians to know what your talking about. People from Vancouver/BC sound the most normal to me since I'm on the West Coast and there's nothing real distinctive they do with certain words or syllables, kind of a neutral, generic American English. The people I've known from Alberta and Saskatchewan sound like my Minnesota/Upper Midwest relatives in that some speak in an almost sing-songy cadence, especially with vowels.

Ontario is incredibly mixed. You can get ANYTHING. It's nuts.

Edit: And it's not regional like the distinct differences in accents from Boston, Chicago, New York City, NJ, Michigan (specifically Detroit). It's mixed as in no matter what city you're in, it's a mix. (Except for maybe Gloucester area Ottawa - I hate it soooooo much)

I completely forgot Ted's "girlfriend" is Chris Elliot's daughter. It would be weird to see them together.

It's truly astonishing that Chris Elliot managed to produce a daughter that attractive.

I'll be interested to see how Ted's apartment gets burned down.

very good episode. classic HIMYM with the stories.

"Crazy stories are my thing! You have architecture, Marshall has the law, Lily has art, Robin has pleasing me sexually. You all have a passion that drives you. Well if I have a passion it's taking life and turning it into a series of crazy stories. If you can do that without me, then I don't even know who I am anymore."

Oh barney XD

Glee Star Jayma Mays Makes a Surprise Return to CBS' How I Met Your Mother
BY VLADA GELMAN

As How I Met Your Mother nears its final season, the CBS comedy has been inviting back faces from the past.

The latest returning guest star: Jayma Mays as the coat check girl!

Mays resurfaces in the March 18 episode, in which “future versions of Ted and Barney try to convince Ted to go see Robots Versus Wrestlers,” per the episode description. “Meanwhile, Marshall challenges Robin to a dance-off.”

The Glee star last appeared in the Season 1(!) episode “Okay Awesome.” Ted briefly flirted with her at the nightclub, but his voiceover let viewers know that she was not his future wife.
This is going to be one helluva callback.

Wait, wut?

It's about time. Ted needed to let go of that part of his life. :o

In all seriousness though, with six episodes left this season, we're really about to hit the home stretch, and these last few episodes really need to get back to Ted completely if they're planning on introducing the mother.

Eh. I think things have been reasonably Ted-based since the engagement. Not as much as I'd like, but more than before.

Yeah, it's definitely been better, but it still kinda seems like he gets the B-plot, whereas the first few seasons saw him in the spotlight.

I was very happy to see what happened in the last episode happen so soon after it being flash forwarded to. I think I've gotten so used to not seeing what happens for a good while I thought that we might not have seen that until one of the last episodes. Glad I was wrong.

I have to say, I'm really glad we saw why Marshall never buys skittles again. I was getting a bit worried they were going to introduce that fact and then wait for another episode to reveal why.
It was such a funny reveal too!

I've had one of those bags bust on me in school. Teacher was NOT happy.
