Wayne Brady is always welcome on this show. His character is great. So are they going to bring back Lucy Hale (Robin's sister) and Ashley Benson (Barney's sister) too? I'm sure if they get one they can get both. They're on the same show.

How I Met Your Mother Exclusive: The Office's Ellie Kemper Joins Final Season

The guest list for Barney and Robin’s How I Met Your Mother nuptials continues to grow.

TVLine has learned exclusively that The Office‘s Ellie Kemper is joining the CBS hit’s ninth and final season.

Kemper will play Cassie, “one of the most attractive, available, and — as Ted discovers — unfortunate guests at Barney and Robin’s wedding,” according to series co creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

As of now, Kemper is set to appear in one episode.

Other previously announced castings for the season-long weekend wedding storyline include Wayne Brady returning as Barney’s brother and Cristin Milioti (now a series regular!) as The Mother. The View‘s Sherri Shepherd is also set to recur as a nemesis to Marshall.

HIMYM‘s farewell season kicks off Sept. 23.
Adorable.

I really liked Ellie on the Office, even though I stopped watching it byy the time she showed up.

Really hope someone releases the Comic Con panel this weekend, I think it's really cool they're going and I think Cristin'll be there as a surprise.

How I Met Your Mother @ Comic-Con: Ted's Ticked-Off Kids (Watch Video!) & an Epic Slap
BY VLADA GELMAN

Slaps, guest stars, a mother of a meeting and… a divorce?

All of these will have a place in How I Met Your Mother‘s final, wedding-set season, creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, director Pam Fryman and the cast told fans at Comic-Con on Saturday. For more on the last chapter in Ted’s journey to the mother, read on.

CHILD UNREST | The session kicked off with a video of Ted’s kids, played by a grown-up Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie, cussing out their dad for keeping them hostage for eight years while he tells his story. “I went through puberty on this couch!” yells the son, while his daughter observes that she knows all the lyrics to Robin Sparkles tunes but doesn’t know who the president is. Then the son says he hasn’t seen another girl beside his sis in eight years, which is making him think inappropriate thoughts. “I hope you never meet the mom!” he exclaims. “I wish I was never born!” (Press PLAY on the video below to watch for yourself!)

THE MOM IS HERE… | … And it’s a “relief” to star Josh Radnor, who was constantly accosted on the street about her identity. “I saw [Cristin Milioti] in Once on Broadway, and she was amazing,” shared the actor. “She’s so delightful and talented and pleasant..” Radnor also noted that the cast is a “tight-knit group of five” and that adding another cast member in this iconic role “could have been not great, and it’s so great.” For those fearing that we won’t actually see Ted and his lovely wife together, Neil Patrick Harris revealed that Radnor and Milioti already have filmed a scene and they “have great chemistry together.” Added Bays: “We’re going to get to know this lady, and we’re going to see the two of them.”

TIME TRAVEL | While the entire upcoming season will take place over Robin and Barney’s wedding weekend, there will lots of flashbacks and flashforwards. “We wanted to stress the word ‘framework,’ because we don’t want people to think it’s four episodes of flower-arranging,” explained Bays. “Decades will span within the course of this season.”

SLAPS ARE COMING | “There’s going to be an episode in the middle of the season that takes place in the middle of one slap,” teased Thomas, likening it to a freeze-frame during a tennis match. “That’s literally the framing device for the entire episode.” The tentative title for third slap installment? “Slapsgiving III: Slappointment in Slapmara.” Fans may be eager for the episode, but Neil Patrick Harris is nervous. “They’re mitts!” the actor said of co-star Jason Segel’s hands. “They match his penis. They’re not fun – either of them.” Plus: “We’re going to have a new version of that song [“You Just Got Slapped”] performed by someone really awesome,” Bays added.

TO THE MALL AGAIN | Will Robin Sparkles return for another go? “It’s a wedding. People sing songs at weddings,” hinted Thomas. Added Cobie Smulders: “Some drunken karaoke maybe?” Meanwhile, Barney and Robin’s first dance will involve exploding glitter cannons.

LOVE AND HEARTBREAK | Not everyone is having a happy wedding weekend. “James is getting a divorce,” revealed Harris. “That puts things into a little bit of a pickle.” But Bays’ summary of the finale season is a lot more hopeful: It’s a “valentine to friendship and love.”

GUEST STARS GALORE | If there’s someone you’re hoping to see return, good news: “The much shorter list is the list of people who aren’t coming back,” said Bays. The EPs are also “in serious talks to get the pineapple back,” added Thomas.

That's all I needed to hear.

This is something I wanted more than anything for the last season.

I was hoping they'd address the length of Ted's epic long story of how he met their mother. Whether this is in the actual season 9 opener or not, it at least shows they're aware of the ridiculousness of the length.

I loved that clip with the kids. Really psyched that this show has an ending and we're reaching it finally.

The Comic Con panel has been posted in it's entirety on the HIMYM YouTube.

I wish that Cristin Milioti had been on the SDCC panel even as a surprise guest. She was nowhere in sight unfortunately. That's the only time HIMYM will be at SDCC so she should have been included since she's now a regular and they're going into the final season.

I'm fine with her being left out. I want the first time I see her and Radnor together to be onscreen as Ted and the Mother, not as two actors promoting the show.

Exactly. I never wanted or expected her to be there because there would be no point. I mean yes she's the mother, but what could she possibly contribute about the last 8 years about the show? That's what the whole point of being at SDCC was for, to promote the series and its end, not just this season and one character.

How I Met Your Mother: Revenge's Roger Bart to Help with Barney and Robin's Big Day
by Kate Stanhope

Revenge's Roger Bart will guest-star on the upcoming final season of How I Met Your Mother, TVGuide.com has learned.

Bart will play an employee at the hotel in Farhampton where Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) are set to tie the knot sometime this season. It is currently unclear how many episodes he will appear in.

The Tony winner is best known for his roles as journalist Mason Treadwell on Revenge and as crazed killer pharmacist George Williams on Desperate Housewives. Last year, he also appeared on Law & Order: SVU and Political Animals.

How I Met Your Mother returns on Monday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c on CBS.

(Full Disclosure: TVGuide.com is owned by CBS.)

The more I look at Cristin Milioti, the more I think her and Josh Radnor could pass for siblings.

But she looks quite a bit like Alyson Hannigan, so maybe she's related too?
