How I Met Your Mother - Part 3

The Robin/Barney pairing works much better than she and Ted. There's enough mutual damage amongst the two to provide balance and make it bearable. Although, I prefer single Barney so all his zaniness is on display.

Outside of the show's early going (and other than that she's hot), I don't know why Ted would want her. Robin kinda sucks.

She really does tho.

She's a good character, horrible girlfriend material.

I somewhat remember a kiss and then Robin leaving because she doesn't want that with Ted anymore. Which has happened so many times I could be remembering a different incident.

I like this show, the actors play the characters very well, but I have come to terms with the fact that I will never relate to ted.

That said,

I do understand his character. The Robin thing although weird is a form of desperation. She is the only girl still around who he ever loved. All he has ever wanted was to be married and she hated the idea, but now she is getting married before him. That has to be waning on his sanity. It would make some sort of sense that he would be acting this way.

Now we have the mom, I worry a little bit that they are going to make her too perfect for ted. Normal people dont have that many similarities in common.

As a guy who's been single and struggled with relationships as long as I have, I TOTALLY relate to Ted.

I completely relate to him as well, and would totally go for someone like Milioti.

And I have come across people who do have lots of similarities in common. Of course, sometimes even having them doesn't mean that the two people are actually attracted to each other. It can work on paper but not always in practice.

Same here. I recently got my sister-in-law into the show so she could better understand how I look at relationships and there were several episodes where she completely saw me as Ted just based on things I have said to her in the past.

You guys should check out the movies Josh Radnor wrote and directed (Happythankyoumoreplease and Liberal Arts). It's all about relationships, and they are very 'Ted-like'.

I finally caught up with this show thanks to Netflix and CBS.

Out of all Ted's girlfriends, I've always been partial to Victoria. Compared to Robin, Stella, Zoey.

Same. I was so glad to see her back last year even though we knew what was going to happen. I also really enjoyed Barney with Quinn. I wanted them to stay together.

Yeah, Liberal Arts is one of my favorite movies, Elizabeth Olsen is amazing in that movie.

It made me wonder how much the creators of HIMYM allowed the cast to infuse their characters with their personalities/hobbies. Marshall with all the catchy songs, Barney with the magic, Ted with the love of literature/poetry.

I agree, I totally relate to Ted. I'm a total Ted hopeless romantic :(

But I disagree on Quinn. Wasn't a big fan of her's. I wanted Barney to end up with Nora. Not Quinn or Robin.

I never liked Nora or Victoria. I preferred Quinn.

But I do relate to Ted completely.

And I'll be honest. I wasn't blown away when they finally introduced the Mother. However, I'm hopeful, her personality wins me over.

Yeah, it seemed like that was really the direction they were going in with Robin's story. But I think it's a little premature to say she won't appear next week judging from a 15 second teaser.

Same here. I was hoping this was the episode where she meets The Mother. I guess they want to space those episodes out.

I am surprised that Barney did not ask the fake The Karate Kid to be his best man right after meeting him

I wasn't expecting her to show up, but, was surprised Lily didn't say something along the lines of "Like, this girl I met on the train the other day, you would have loved her" when talking to Robin about making friends

Slight spoiler but I did read that she'd be meeting with each of the group prior to Ted separately.

Part of me wishes they'd do an ep where Lily (and/or Marshall) realize how much The Mother is like Ted (and how he imagines dream girl), and keep trying to get the two together, to no avail.
