Transformers How important is Megatron and Starscreams appearance?

I love the G1 designs for these characters and will be extremely pissed if they don't resemble those designs in the movie. How do you guys feel?

That's damn right. Starscream could look like a gorilla chicken for all I care, he just needs to be "himself". Sadly, I don't think Megs can be fixed at this point.

Well, I'm not expecting them to look like pitch perfect G1 translations, but some resemblance to the G1 designs would be nice. They did it with Optimus while still updating him. Why are Starscream and Megatron that much more impossible to do?

Starscream is one of the most important characters in the G-1 storyline. The prototype pictures that leaked were horrid and totally unacceptable. Starscream's appearance is just as important as Prime's and Meg's. So Bay & Co.. Should take the same approach to Starscream as they did with Optimus Prime. If they completely revamp the character's appearence then they better make it really cool.. Not the Robot chicken prototype they dropped on us. By the negative reaction it recieved, I'm sure they scrapped the original design.

i don't see why they couldn't have struck the same amount of resemblence for ALL of the Transformers that they did with Prime.

that being said...as long as Megs and Starscream ACT like each other, then i'll be somewhat satisfied...

...but if they're in the sequel they better get MAJOR overhauls.

Prime has similar features to his G1 counterpart, so why cant Megatron. I'm not asking for exact but similar, although the personality is most important, this includes Starscream.

See for me as long as they stay true to the core of the character in who they are and what they want I'll be fine. Megatron could be a jet, tank, or alien spaceship for all I care as long as he has the hard core doesn't care who gets killed as long as he gets what he wants kind of attitude.

Starscream is the character that wants to lead and have power but is to cowerdly to out right take it. Constantly trying to get others to give him the power and do the dirty work. That is what is important to me, not so much how they look.

But try to keep the face/robot look simular just a little.

I voted for a slight resemblance to the original designs. I have always felt that the most important aspect to the characters were their personalities. As long as those are intact, I am fine with different designs.

It's hard to vote in a poll that is this badly worded.
Looking exactly like the original is obviously dumb. But resemblance to the original designs is extremely important.

Starscream looks nothing like the original, AND he also doesn't really act like him in the script. All the Decepticons act like "creatures." Which is just plain dumb IMO. Megs is the worst with his creature-rific "soul sucking" ability and Dinosaur roar in the flashback scene.

This film will either be the best thing to ever happen to Transformers or the worst. There wont be middle ground. From script leaks, to "insider" reports we wont know what the final product will be tell opening day. Am I going expecting to see my childhood heros on the screen? Hell no. Am I going to see something that resembles them? I hope so. But untill I see the credits roll I'll reserve my judgment as best I can.

Starscream is one of my favorite Transformers characters. He doesn't have to look exactly like his G1 counterpart, but I want him to have some kind of normal proportions.

Starscream is really the breaking point for me whether to watch that movie or not. If he's still a Gorilla/Chicken crossbreed, I'll wait till the movie hits the net.

Exactly. I'd be fine with that. That's a fine example that contradicts the notion that all the "whiners" want is the old blocky design. No we dont... we just want these characters to be recognizable.

I really want Megs and Starscream(everyone, really) to have thier G1 personalities. I can live with updated designs, but they could at last try to make them resemble their G1 designs. It seems like they have changed everything a lot, wether it was necessary or not. That's a huge concern. But I will wait for the actual movie (heck, even a trailer) to make a firm decison.

LOL. "Alien body" that looks like a human jet.
Man, you just don't get it. If you don't see what the artist tried to do with that manip (sans millions of dollars mind you), there's no hope.

well...so far, i've been pretty dissapointed with all of the designs BUT if they act like they're supposed to act(i.e., like the g1 toon, comics, etc.), all will be forgiven.

Initially I thought the x-men's costumes were kinda goofy but since the characters were so much like the comics(for the MOST part), all was forgiven. If Transformers can do the same, i'll be satisfied.
