I'm kinda curious about this,TDK takes place a few months after Begins and I'm wondering when this one does!,I personally hope it takes place like a year or so latter.

It could be explained that Batman is well already over a year or two into his crime-fighting career,So thus he will be more seasoned/experienced and known more like a legend already!.....Crime boss's could be even more desperate/crime rate is much lower/Arkham Asylum&prison could be full of caught most wanted criminals thanks to Bats while cops are still hunting him down cause he always manages to escape them and serves Gotham when some cops are bent of bringing him down hard with a reluctant Gordan who manages to have a secret meetings with Bats(who both are informants for each other).....All while Bruce is confidant that he has finally fully protected Gotham and so he's more confidant and this he has reached his goal..Until he meets Bane&Catwoman of course.

With this,There would be much potential for spin-off comics&games and plus it would give Batman a true life before ending it all on film since Nolan wants this to end as a trilogy and I assume WB will end up rebooting in a few years anyway.....So it would be pretty sad if this new Bat series all ends within a time-line of a couple of months!

About 6 months-a year? Yeah, a year, methinks.

I know this won't be the case, but ever since I came out of the theater after seeing TDK, I thought it should've taken place ten years in the future. Following Dent's death, Bruce 'retired. But when a new villain emerges, he returns as Batman. (But I don't think Bane is a big enough threat to make Bruce come out of retirement. The Joker would be, but we all know he won't be in TDKR) I also thought it would[ve been cool if they used some prostetics to make Bale look much older.

It will probably take place a few months after TDK. (Or maybe it will take place immediately after Batman rode up that hill on the batpod before the credits of TDK and open with a really cool chase scene)

The problem with Batman retiring right after TDK is that it doesn't make sense. Crime hasn't stopped and, like Joker said, the crazies are starting to emerge. Batman needs to be Batman more than ever right after TDK.

I figured with The Joker now in prison, Dent still considered a hero by Gotham's citizens, and Batman now a wanted man, that would've been a perfect time to hang up the cape.

But crime doesn't stop and, again, judging by the Joker's comments, it's still strong and in a new form. The Batman started something that Joker took and made it escalate and now Gotham is in a worse condition. Granted, it's only a hint by the Joekr, but I really believe TDKR will touch upon that very theme.

Perhaps it could open like that,Then after the scene it could read"1 year latter"or something!

What I wouldn't be opposed to, if done well is the movie taking place more than 3 years after TDK, but with Batman still having been around and more exhausted than ever.

I would love to see an older Bruce/Batman,But retired for 10 years and after TDK.....I don't find that interesting!,Batman should be fighting for those 10 years.

Perhaps in a couple of years WB could do a sequel/new trilogy after TDKR,Taking place 10 or even 20 years after when he is about to retire and that's when Robin could come in or something.

It'll be fitting for the movie to take place a few months after TDK.

It really depends on the story. It could be a week to 5 years later. Who knows.

Yeah it all depends on where nolan wants to go with the movie

I think it'd be pretty cool if they started the movie with the chase straight after TDK, but then kinda morphed into a chase of Batman, say, 1-2 years later to show he's still fighting crime, and still being chased.

Probably about 6 months, 3 weeks, 4 days, and 3 hours, 17 minutes, and 1.845361 seconds later.

Hope it's long enough to were he's back in the Mansion/BatCave.

20 years. It's a nice round number.

It doesn't strike me as Nolan's style, but I like the idea.

This trilogy is about how Batman came to be, so it wouldn't make sense to have TDKR take place more than a year after TDK.

Yeah, I feel like it'll be no less than a year later.

Again, it really depends on what Nolan and company have done with the story and where it picks up...I'm sure we'll be able to figure something out from the dialogue.

Definitely!,Enough time to have the mansion build"brick by brick"and the cave back up&running with some updates to it.

A year. Have batman in hiding since dent dying.

I really don't get this retiring/hiding way of thinking!,Batman needs to be active and not just be doing stuff seen in the movies over a period of just a couple of nights in the time-line!

IF this new series ends with this one,Batman would have been only a crime-fighting super hero for a few nights/months!.....Which would be such BS/sad and a damn shame.

I always imagined that it would start like bourne ultimatum. Start straight from the end of TDK with batman injured on the run from the police only narrowly getting away and then flash forward a few months.

That would be a great set-up for Bruce/Batman's character in this one!,During the chase have cops shoot at Bats and end up crashing into him&his Batpod......With him injured/weak and like he's about to die,But he's able to barely escape by using his grable gun onto a top of a tall building!

Then have"1 year latter",Bruce could be shown in his new updated Batcave focused& determined about something when Alfred comes in and they have a little scene with him saying that Bruce has come a long way already as Batman since a year before and that Gotham has changed for the better cause of him even though the cops& criminals all want him dead/burred&forgotten!

Well since in this one Batman and Talia end up becoming the leaders of the LEague of Shadows at the end and using them as a positive force in Gotham I think at least six months time is a good break between TDK and TDKR. But you don't want TOO much to have gone down in the short amount of time depicted in this trilogy.
