The Dark Knight How should this movie begin?

If the Penguin is in it, and he is a British arms dealer, then the movie will probably start with something to establish both. maybe something involving the Wayne business.

Kind of long but fairly specific..you will get the idea..

I would like to see the next movie open like this...

Jim Gordon stands on a roof top waiting for Batman...he hears the sounds of the city at night as he looks over downtown Gotham...

(Gordon to himself) Where is all this going? How can one man change this city?
(from the darkness) I thought we were two?
(Gordon lowers his head) Have you tracked him down yet?
(Batman) Working on it,...any new information?
(Gordon) No,....we keep running into dead ends.....

((Scene flashes away to Rachel Dawes packing her things in her apartment))
(Rachel) Where is that cab? I called an hour ago?
(Rachel sees her answering machine blinking and hesitates to press play, it hard but she presses the button)
(Bruce Wayne's voice) Rachel...its Bruce,....I wanted to,...I will talk to you soon....Have a safe trip.....
(Rachel eyes begin to well up,...she wipes them away, the second message plays)
Harvey Dent- Rachel its Harv, I know this is hard for you but I had to let you know before you left that Gotham will be in safe hands, I will do everything necessary to ensure all of your hard work was not in vain. We will get this "Joker character" and I will be sure to mention your role in.....(knock at the apartment door)
(Rachel yells) One minute.....
(sinister voice quietly from behind the door) Hehehe....take your time...hehehe...we have all night...hehehe...

(Flash back to the roof top with Gordon and Batman)
(Batman) Has Rachel Dawes left yet?
(Gordon) She cleaned out her desk this evening...
(Batman) This evening?
(Gordon) Yes I sent a runner over to pick up her files on "The Joker" but when he got there her desk was cleaned out and she was nowhere to be found? Were still trying to locate the files ....(Gordon turns to face Batman and he is gone) *quietly* as a matter of fact I should of heard something by now?
(Gordon realizes whats going on and runs toward the stairwell)

(Shot of Batman swooping through the city)

(Back at Rachel's apartment Rachel Dawes walks out of her bedroom and answers the door, she opens the door to see a young man propped up in the hall way with his throat slit and as smile carved into his face from ear to ear, shes horrified but recognizes him as Jim Gordon's file clerk as she reels back into her apartment and slams the door, shes has seen this dozens of times in police photos. Rachel is now petrified realizing whats going on and she is a target, as her mind races for a split second she hears laughter and freezes)

(man sitting in a chair looking at photos from Rachel's files in the shadows) Hehehe...ahahah..hehhee.....oooh...I remember this one hehehe...she begged me to let her go....hehehe....she really should have thought about that since we were on the 9th floor...hehehehehe.... don't worry about that since your on the first....hehehe...

(Police cars fly toward Rachel Dawes apartment, Batman is just arriving on the roof of Rachel's apartment and sees a Rachel getting into a cab, he breathes a sigh of relief)

(Batman) Your always to late with Rachel Bruce.....

(Batman proceeds to inspect Rachel's apartment, he looks in the window and sees someone sitting in a chair, he begins to act fast, braking the window and entering he shines a light on the figure, its Jim Gordon's file clerk throat slit and smile carved in his face)

(Batman) RACHEL!!.... RACHEL!! (He yells throughout the apartment while searching every room, he enters the bedroom to find papers in flames on the bed, he quickly uses his cape to suffocate the flames and sees something under the papers, he wipes away the papers and see Rachel's face slit ear to ear and she has been undressed and scalped, he grabs her but its too late Rachel's throat is slit the camera pulls back as Batman hold Rachel and you can see the few small flames illuminate the words written over her headboard in her blood "Have a safe trip")

(Batman quietly) Your always late with Rachel Bruce....

(Outside police cars begin arriving, Batman exits, Police break down the apartment door,....Gordon steps in and is grieved at what he sees, Gordon sees Batman on a rooftop across the street through the broken window, then Batman vanishes )

(Gordon) This will be a dark night for Gotham........


(A cab is on its way to the airport)

(Woman in the back) Hehehe.....ahem...(female impersonation) Driver...hehe....could we take a drive though the park?

(Fat Cab driver) I thought we was heading to the airport?

(Woman in the back) Hehe......you won't take a lady to the park tiger? Hehe...

(Fat Cab driver) Oh......sure lets find a nice private place......

(Woman in the back) Hehe.....lets?

(Shot of cab rolling to a stop from a distance in a vacant area of the park)

(Fat Cab Driver) WHAT THE!!!!

(Shot of cab interior lighting up with the sound of gunfire)

(Sound from cab) Hehehehehehahhhahahahahhaah...

(fade to black)

From hear it goes into a Dent story line, trying to clean up gotham and bring justice for Dawes's killer. Bring in Mob bosses and Penguin...

I'm probably going to write a fan-fic soon of how I see the movie going but this is just my idea how it would start:

Gordon and Batman are up on a rooftop.

Gordon: So have you found him?

Batman: No, but I keep finding his calling cards (shows him a baggy full of Joker cards). Any leads on your end?

Gordon: All dead ends. The guy is good, I give him that, but he'll slip up soon. Everyone slips up...everyone falls...

Batman: Whoever he is, I'll find him. I can guarantee you that.

Gordon: You have brought alot of hope to this city Batman. You were just what we needed, like a Savior, or a Dark Knight that fell from the sky.

Batman: I do my best... (He takes off before Gordon can finish his speech)

Gordon: I hate it when he does that.

Then it cuts to the mob war between the Maronis/Thornes being set up. We meet Harvey Dent, the new Gotham City D.A., we find out Penguin has been supplying weapons to both mob families in order to whack each other off and in the process he'll move in as the new Falcone, and then we get Joker's whole backstory and his origin, and we develop strong friendships between Bruce, Gordon, and Dent.

Then, you have where the Maronis get bombed by Joker who aligns himself with Thorne and together they agree to take down both Batman and Harvey Dent. Little do any of them know that The Penguin is inches away from taking over all of Gotham.

the implication was that the Joker already exists. i don't remember his exact words, but Gordon said something about escalation and one-up-manship.

-We can bring Gotham back.

- What about escalation?

- Escalation?

-We start carrying semiautomatics,
they buy automatics.
We start wearing Kevlar,
they buy armor-piercing rounds.

- And?

- And you're wearing a mask...
...and jumping off rooftops.
Now, take this guy.
Armed robbery, double homicide.
Got a taste for the theatrical, like you.
Leaves a calling card.

-I'll look into it.

-I never said thank you.

-And you'll never have to.

see, i took that as there being a crazy person who considers it all a joke. murder, robbery, and so considers himself a joker. the joker. not someone who was necessarily horribly disfigured. but that's just what I took from that conversation. to each his own.
