Superman Returns How quiet was your theather during Superman's freefall from outerspace?

It wasnt to quiet in my theater actually... Alot of snoring was going by the middle of the movie so you know that kept me entertained...

Mine got real quit when Superman was getting the crap beat out of him by Luther and his henchmen.

yeah, that was awesome.... it really made me realize how iconic Superman's costume is. Seeing him get dragged by his face across the jaggered ground(with Routh screaming from beneath) was absolutely stunning.

Unfortunately, the print I saw had Mel Gibson (with Apocalypto beard) popping up and screaming, "Look everybody, Superman is like Jesus!!"

It really ruined both scenes, imo. I don't know why Singer didn't try to be a little more subtle.

Mel Gibson would never do that. Mel Gibson would have taken the extra time to blame Jews and gays for Superman's death as well.

I thought it was a terrible scene meant to mimic the Train scene in Spiderman 2 when Peter passes out from exertion.
THAT scene(on the train) is WAYYYYY better than this scene which was poorly executed.
No one cared. Thats why the theatre was quiet.

well i wouldnt exactly say that no one cared in SR, but the impact in Spiderman2 was stronger on the audience than SR's.

dude, the theater is always quiet!

these mushy questions are so overly gay.

i laughed at that part in S2.... i thought SR's was slightly more subtle in its delivery (at least he wasn't being carried above people's heads.)

That's all the hype needs.....Harry and Lloyd running wild on the SR Boards.

I have to respectfully disagree. BIGTIME. I thought the SR scene blew that Spiderman train scene away. It wasn't even a contest.

I can't imagine it being that hard...the Spider-Man films aren't known for their subtlety...everythings laid out pretty thick. ;)

Hahaha...nice. :D

anyway, there was 2 scenes that reminded me of The Hulk. when Superman was in the water struggling, it was like in The Hulk when Hulk was in the water fighting his father's energy thing.
and when Superman fell from the sky, it was like when Hulk fell from the atmosphere after holding onto that F-16.

I watched the movie the first time on regular screening and 2nd time on IMAX ... AND IF EFFING ROCKED! IMAX all the way. But yeah the scene where Supes got his ass beaten into kryptonite the whole theatre went silent. I looked around and I could see the uneasiness on ppl's faces. The lady sitting next to me was tearing up all the way to the end when Superman was talking to jason. Crazyinesss...

imagine if someone farted out loud during this scene LOL

Mine was dead... no talking, no whispers... everyone watched him fall exactly like the people in the movie when they watched him falling from the sky... this was an amazing moment... much like the crucifixion scene during the Passion of the Christ where everyone in my theater was silent throughout.

Not sure if you meant to do this on purpose, however I think you suggest a very interesting metaphor with your example......

Not true. With the music, the train full of people, the intensity the train scene began, played out and ended VERY nicely. It wasn't a giant CG island being lifted. How can anyone react to that. PLus supermans pretty much invunerable, so who cared that he was falling to earth. The scene like all the rest was edited and shot poorly. No drama..just bland.

It was generally quiet only because people started leaving the theatre.
