How should Edgar Wright do Ant-Man?

Basically, it should be a your standard Superhero action film, but on top of that.... very, very funny.

 

I put spoof, as I find the character to be a pretty funny one to begin with, but nothing totally slapstick.

 

I'd love it as a superhero movie about Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne and the darker elements of their relationship, but with a dark comedic twist.

Like Royal Tennenbaums as an action movie almost. Just kind of deadpanned and ridiculous.

 

I hate to pigeon hole Wright as a director but I would rather see him continue with his comedies (which aren't spoofs).

Is his Ant-Man the one about the thief who steals the suit?

 

scott lang ant man II? or the recent one?

 

They shouldn't even bother wasting resources making this movie.

 

I mean wasnt that Wrights concept, about a thief who stole the Ant Man suit.

 

Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are two pretty amazing spoof. I wouldn;t have a problem if it's done like that.

 

I think they can easily do both. I mean, look at Shaun of the Dead--funny, but it got hella dark near the end. I could feasibly see, say, a Pym movie where he nearly loses his mind while still having comedic elements.

 

I know this really isnt the topic at hand, but I really hate when people call shaun of the dead a spoof. Its not. Wright says its not. Pegg says its not. and they make a pretty convincing argument.

Hot Fuzz is a harder movie to defend but all in all they are not spoofs.

 

I hope this movie doesn't get made.

 

He's a great character but not someone you would want to waste a film and budget on. He's someone that should have a direct to dvd or even a tv show but not a major film on. There are to many other great characters that deserve that moreso than him. BP, Deadpool, Moon Knight, heck even DD needs a relaunch.

 

I agree with Docker, I dont think hes even interesting. Its better to put him in an Avengers movie.

yes but in the comics scott lang stole the ant man equpment to rescue his kidnaped daughter when he did and returned the suit to dr pym hank understod scots dilema and intentions and told scot he'd EARNED the right to be ant man
