Iron Man 2 How should War Machine be used?

I was thinking that Stark could make like a high gear suit that puts to much strain on his heart and his chest piece or something, so Rhodey wears it instead. And that maybe a drunk Stark flying around town causing more trouble than good is taken down by Rhodey in the War Machine suit.

That sounds good^^, I hope rhodey keeps tony in check while he drunk.

I thought that in Iron Man 2, Tony collapses under the pressure of being Iron Man so Rhodes takes over.

LOL, Rhodey isn't keeping anyone in check.

I thought that in Iron Man 2, Tony collapses under the pressure of being Iron Man so Rhodes takes over.

Alcoholism isn't the major theme in the movie (thankfully) and if Rhodey does "take over" it'll be for a scene or two.

No way is Tony going to be taken out or is this going to be turned into a War Machine movie.

Tony develops the War Machine suit for himself. Rhodes, divided between his job at the Air Force and his friendship with Tony, chooses his friend and uses the War Machine suit to help him fight Justin Hammer, Black Widown, Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo and the Combat Drones.

Description of Iron Man 2 footage posted here at Superhero Hype:

The last bit clearly ties into the courtroom scene earlier where Rhodey is remaining faithful to his government like a good soldier and they have called upon weapons expert Justin Hammer, played by Sam Rockwell, to modify the first wave Iron Man armor into something more suitable of either taking on or replacing Stark's Iron Man. Hammer walks up to the original Iron Man lying on a table asking what they did to it, which Rhodes says is classified then asks what Hammer is going to do for them. "I'm talking about firepower," he clarifies. Hammer says they're talking to the right guy and he starts pulling out all sorts of guns and weapons to retrofit on the armor, but doesn't seem to be getting much reaction from Rhodes or the general, even with something he calls "Uncle Gazpacho or Puff the Magic Dragon." Cheadle says "I think I'll take it..." and when Hammer asks which one, Rhodey responds, "All of it." And then we see our first look at the retrofitted Iron Man armor as WAR MACHINE, which looks BAD-ASS!!

Looks like I was definately on the right track:

This is how I think that War Machine will be introduced:

I think that when Stark hands over the designs of the Iron Man suit to the senator, the US Military makes the War Machine suit from it & not Stark. It will look similar to the Iron Man suit due to Starks designs. To me that seems logical as Tony is still probably anti-war in his carry over from the first movie - it would be a huge turnaround for him to do a 180 on that standpoint, and could destroy the tone if he were to make the suit. However, if the US military make it - its all good. And what do the military create? War machines.

Rhodey will be the obvious candidate to pilot the prototype, due to his military rank & ties to Stark.

I don't think so. Tony didn't become anti-war. He became anti-irresponsible use of military technology. There's a difference. If he was anti-war he wouldn't have continued to make the Iron Man suits in the first place. Him just giving the tech to the military/govt? Now that would be a 180 turn around. He doesn't trust them to use his stuff responsibly. In the comics he refused to patent any of his stuff since it would require him to give the blueprints and such to the patent office, a govt agency. He knew they'd either not keep it secure enough and some criminal would aquire the plans or even more likely, the govt itself would steal them and make their own armors based on his designs.

I expect when the WM suit is made that it will be Stark who makes it just like in the comics.

Now I do expect that at some point(maybe in this film, maybe not) that Stark will compromise and create guardsmen-type armors for the govt. But he'll design them much less powerful than the Iron Man armor and intentionally design the suits to fry themselves if the govt decides to try and reverse engineer them or take them apart to see what makes them work.

Okay, why'd you have to point out the person who was wrong? You were right, big deal.

this looks like iron man. i think i saw a toy of iron man red/orange that looked like that.

Interesting... He looks like the concept of IRON MAN...

I believe he just looks red because of the reflection from the gunfire.

Well, looks like Stark isn't the one who creates the WM armor. I'd have prefered differently but whatcha gonna do? I'd have prefered Stark to keep his secret identity from the first film as well. So they're clearly deviating from the comics in certain parts and I can live with that. Still gonna be a kick ass movie.

Iron Man's identity being public was an great twist.

Maybe the War Machine was designed by Tony, but then somehow Hammer got hold of the plans and used them himself in a contract with the government? That could explain the scene in court?

Maybe a certain spy got the plans for Hammer?

But then the Rhodey sides with Tony in the end.

It looks alot bulkier then i that. From concepts that ive seen the design and armor seemed more sleek. But maybe its the angle idk. The suit is grey guys not red. Also that picture of WM reminds me of that picture of IM from the first movie, that was also in the teaser, with IM coming out from a dark room and you see his Mark 3 armor barely, any remember that? This WM pic reminded me of that. I dont think thats the finished WM suit though, canons are missing and what not. But also if you look closely at the head of WM, at the top you can kinda see ridges on the top like the original WM, which would be awesome.

Wow, he looks very similar to this design of War Machine, as far as I can tell.
