The Sandman in the movie was far more interesting than the dumb thug that is Flint Marko in the comics.  I preferred his added depth, I just wish he had more screentime.
And he seemed pretty unstoppable in SM3. He beats Spidey on their first encounter survives a "murder" from Spidey's victory on the second and becomes a giant monster that would have killed Spidey if not for Harry on their third.
He seemed pretty imposing and had a great backstory. ONe that was unfortunately cut down by probably 50% due to runningtime approval for the studio. Alas.
