How to make a very good second trailer

^ It's not awful bad, it's just not a great trailer to introduce the masses to the character. It really doesn't show anything about what the GL actually is or what the ring does, the ring is the primary device of the character and you never see it do anything in the trailer save for one brief glimpse when it throws that fist. There's a lot of flying around and not much else. Seriously ask yourself this, if you knew nothing about GL what about that character, would make you want to see it after viewing that trailer?

NOt really. I feel like the trailer showed too much instead of teasing more. The nice thing about teasing is that it builds enough curiousity around the film to peak peoples' interest enough to check it out. Like the cowboys and aliens trailer. Do we need to know all the details about the device on his wrist, what the aliens look like, etc? No. The mystery is part of the allure. The main thing a trailer should do is establish the tone of the film and tease you with just enough that you want more.

I enjoyed the trailer after seeing it in HD but i would've prefered more teasing and less showing. as it is the trailer showed enough to draw misinformed conclusions possibly. We've see the costume, the power, Oa, and the comedy. If you didn't like it it's that much easier to just pass on it vs a trailer that teases just enough to get you interested and wanting to see more. Just my random thoughts, a trailer that focuses on the emotional tone of the film while teasing something extaordinary but not showing the character fully in costume doing his thing may have been engaging. But who knows maybe that's exactly how this trailer will be recieved.

It's a teaser. They showed the basic concept of the ring creating whatever the user thinks of. I really am puzzled as to how much people were expecting this teaser to show off.

Most of my friends and fellow artists from different video game studios all laughed at the trailer and the fake suit when it was sent around to all staff. This trailer hasn't blown away anyone I know. But you can probably blame WB marketing as they always want to push the product and get it out there before they are finished.

I've been dying for this movie. Been reading the books since 88 and collect every lantern comic including the 3 that came out yesterday but this trailer deflated my excitement.

HOWEVER..
The next trailer will probably be great!

It's not always easy to respect 2 cents that make no damn sense.

If you got a problem with the feel of the movie then you should blame it on the source material I'd say.

No, I blame the director for making it that way if this is indeed the case. Yes, GL comics have been silly, but so has just about every other character in history. I just don't see where Hal in this film is any different than any other hero in similar films. It seems generic. Again, that doesn't make it bad. It just makes it not great. I would have preffered being more original and making this bigger.

I think people are taking it too personally on both sides.

I think the teaser did it's job and I liked it for the most part, but it didn't hit the right notes. I CAN PROMISE YOU if they just took out the 'Hal in the apartment' scene, I think people would be less harsh on it. I know it's the full body money-shot, I think the CGI in that particular scene looks really unfinished, WHILE other shots of the suit looked fine.

I think all of the bashing of the CGI is based on that one damn shot. Guaranteed!

I'd say, they should be inspired by the Star Trek trailer (the third one) and just make it..epic. Make it big. That begins with using some really powerful music. Look at the Inception trailer: powerful.

And have a build up before you reveal the money-shots. Like a slow burn and unleash the great action shots.

I think lack of scope is really the biggest problem with the trailer. That and it doesn't make the ring seem as cool as it can be. They need to showcase the scope and ring more.

Well, it's only the teaser and once the 2nd trailer comes out, the teaser will be forgotten by most geeks anyway. But compared to the other teasers that came out (My Highness, Cowboys & Aliens) it got..overshadowed by most sites.

They explained the power and showed it in action in a very clear scene. It's a teaser. Again, how much would you have expected to see?

This is going to be a progression. Expect the next trailer to introduce a couple more characters and a little more action. We might even get to see the Guardians. I would expect that the main, villian Parallax, might be shown much later.

Just curious but what was the consensus about Tron when that trailer went around?
