Comics How was FNSM this week?

It would certainly be a good explanation for all the crap that's been going on, but somehow I think you're giving this story too much credit. :(

I like someone's Infinite Crisis theory...that th' crap in th' DCU is echoin' into Marvel's U.

I thought about that too, but its a diffrent universe so its not out of character.
Where did you read that this was a different universe? I thought we were dealing with time travel...

I thought that to mess up our Spidey, Hobby arranged an accident for Aunt May and no thief for Uncle Ben, to alter the future. But all of a sudden this irresponsible Ben appears with current Spidey... doesn't that break some time-space continum "rule"?

If it is a different demension (or parallel time... a la Dark Shadows) then this is NOT our Uncle Ben. And it makes no sense...why is this Hobby travelling across not just time, but out of his own universe to "get" our Spider-Man, who would have nothing to do with him...

Basically, this story is not communicating why I should care.

It isn't simply time travel, because if the goblin had simply gone back in time, it would have changed the present 616 spiderman, but it appears this isn't the case. Ben appears to be from a slightly different world to the one we know. Which is why I have my multiple universe theory.

Why is hobgoblin doing this? Who knows, but I guess if he is so adament that he wants to wipe spider-man from all existence, then he would want to do it across all the multiple universes - if he discovered they existed.

Is it just me, or does HOBGOBLIN look more like GREEN GOBLIN?

So... this is all just speculation at this point.

Time travel... universe hopping... demension popping... it's confusing and tedious. Just more mystical weirdness in Spider-Man, and I'm really tired of it.

Yes, its all speculation at the moment. While I don't like seeing spidey involved in time travel, multiple dimensions and mystical weirdness, and prefer him dealing with more street level crime, if it manages to wipe out some of the current storylines it will be worth it.

So far I'm not really impressed, but going to reserve my judgement. All the possibilities have the chance of easily coming off as hokey, so I think PAD has to be on the ball to make this work. Let's hope he is. :(

You know I hate to say it but bar the spatz,
Ringo actually makes the Iron suit look ok in #8...

not half as tired as SPIDEY is i'll bet

I'm not a fan of Spider-Girl, but I've been picking it up recently because it has the Roderick Kingsley Hobgoblin. DeFalco's doing a decent job of showing him as the badass he was in the 80's.

When I read the end of the issue before this one, where May sees Ben while she's out with Jarvis, I didn't know what to think.

I wasn't expecting this at all, which was actually a good thing for once. I was expecting something much worse, to be honest.

Though I enjoy it so far. I always enjoy alternate universe stories and how just by certain things changing how different things can be. I just think it will be interesting for the Uncle Ben of the other universe to see how Peter would have turned out if he used his powers for good.

I just think it's a little story that strengthens why Peter keeps putting on the Spider-Man costume.

I'm going to keep getting this and see where it goes and how Spidey is going to handle future Hobgoblin, though I find this part a tad corny...but, hey, it's a Spidey comic. :o

One thing that is really annoying me is that Hobby has GG's color scheme.
..Just makes no sense, he should be Blue and Orange.

I'm sure he or it doesn't really care what color scheme he/it is wearing.

But, yeah, I thought it was a little odd that it looks more like the Green Goblin than the Hobgoblin.

Didn't I bring that up like days ago with little or no response? Yeesh.

I wasn't here days ago. Nor did I see it.

But...Ok.

I'll give you your gold star and cookie tomorrow. :p

IIRC theres an actual reason for that, I think there was a Spidey 2099 story that stated that some of the information of the past gets mixed up in the future.

I don't have my copy of Spider-man/Spider-man 2099 with me, and haven't read it in years, but a future version of Spider-man and the Green Goblin appeared in the present. Can't remember what year and if the visual designs were similar. PAD could be repeating himself to some extent, possibly unintentionaly.

I know that he had Captain Marvel (Genis) visit the 2099 universe for some reason...

I wish it would. Then I'd actually enjoy the books.

Hhahahah, yea I would not mind digging out the relevent issues of SM2099 to read about Spidey 2211, hmmm.

Everyone, this is not a new character. Hobgoblin of 2211 has been created already back in the 90s and yes, he looks exactly how he did back then, green and all. He was instroduced in Spiderman meets Spiderman 2099. I for one, am looking forward to him in this arc, bc he was introduced back then and never used again or expanded upon. So it will be really interesting to learn more about him in this arc.

It is also obvious to me that it was from an alternate universe Spidey that uncle Ben came from. That is why he stumbles upon the burnt down house, and current universe Aunt May saw him and Peter is his normal self that finds his uncle. The alternate universe Spidey would still have Aunt May dead. And Spidey would still be a movie star jerk.

I enjoyed the issue and am looking forward to the next. Cant wait to see what this future Hobgoblin can do!

Btw, yes it was painful seeing Peter as such a jerk, however, there was comfort in knowing that it wasn't OUR Spidey. Also, remeber, in Amazing Fantasy #15, Peter WAS a first class jerk up until when reallity hit him hard at the revalation that it was HIS fault his Uncle got shot bc he didnt stop the robber.

Yeah, someone else had mentioned that this Hobgoblin appeared in Spider-Man 2099. Only made sense considering Peter David, current FNSM writer, wrote Spider-Man 2099.

I kind of like it for what it is. Though what irks me is that Hobgoblin looks like Green Goblin. Maybe there is some kind of explanation for that, but from what I saw...his name should be Green Goblin.
