Was just wondering how everyone thought Thor would be adapated? Would it a sword (Hammer) and sorcery fantasy film or more in line with the comics involving Don Blake?

Personally I'd like to see it similar to how it was in the comics. Start with Odin feeling like his son needs to be taken down a peg and taught humility by sending him to earth to share a body with a disabled mortal. He grows up to be a doctor and later comes to realise his connection with Thor.

How do you think it will be done?

In the script
he's sent to Earth, but not as Blake. It isn't set in modern times

that is the old script (over a yr ago), the new one which i am sure will have Kenneth's take on it will be different and will HAVE to include earth so blake/thor can be tied into the avengers. Cant wait for 2010.... lots of great comic book movies that year...

Some one I know mentioned this and I agree.
I don't want to see anything (like in the first Captain America film) where Thor has to become accustomed to the modern world. No smashing cars because he thinks they are dragons or something like that.

I would like to see the idea of Odin sending Thor to Earth to gain humility, maybe he could send him down to live as a mortal (among other mortals for a time) and then Odin must give Thor back his powers in order for Thor to stop a newly escaped Loki (or something).

I am interested to hear or see anything about what Kenneth (not sure how to spell his last name) will do with it.

I wish I was a Thor expert :o

That Script has already been Budget cut once, and edited again after Iron-Man's first weekend.
Don't think they'll get a whole new script just for a director.
The basic idea is fine as it is. There really isn't need for a Blake until present day if there is even need for a secret identity.

Too bad Thor isn't a more popular property. It deserves a ****load of money to make it ridiculously epic.

"Vartha" i agree that the old script probably has been cut due to budget expenses...but after iron man's big weekend, it changed more to make sure thor was in IM2. I still feel blake is needed due to it's THOR'S punishment....i dont understand WHY people keep thinking he will not be included!!! C'mon if u guys r fans or know anything about the movie industry, it makes sense 1st ECONOMICALLY and 2nd it connects blake to a female love interest and puts him on a journey to find the cane....

I heard it's old testament god meets new testament god

Yeah, there won't be Blake. Lots of sites (AICN included) saw the last draft and told that there is no Blake.

Thor becomes mortal in the second act, but it's in viking times. And he is given back the right to become a god after learning his humility lesson IN VIKING TIMES.

According to these sites, the newest draft is not that different from the first... the only changes made were due to budget restrictions (they had to cut down some fantastical creatures and scenes that would need a lot of special effects). Anybody else claiming that there will be Donald Blake is just on wishful thinking.

Sif is his love interest (and a VERY prominent one) in the movie. He doesn't need to be a mortal to be in love with someone, you know.

Here is my point....if Blake is not in thor the solo film....THEN that means thor will have to be casted and be in THOR shape for the IM2 FILM cameo...

That is a LOT to ask of an actor to hit the weights for 3-4 mths for a 2min or less cameo. THEN stay in the same shape to do the THOR movie 4-6mths AFTER the iron man movie wraps!!

This is the reason why i think there will be a blake character due to it's easier to throw on a lab coat, limp with a cane and deliver a few lines with tony stark....of course i could be wrong.

btw i am NOT fighting for Blake to be in the script BUT i do believe that if he is included it WONT hurt the film....that's all...

THOR is going to be filmed 4-6 months after IM2 wraps? You think Thor will start filming next September for a July 2010 release date? And to think, you claim to know something about the movie industry.

I think the first Thor should be set in Asgard, while any sequels are on Earth.

I'd be happy either way though.

Everyone who hasn't read J.M.S's Thor should read it right away. It is EXACTLY how this can be pulled off and be entertaining to all.

How is Asgard setting going to be any different from Viking setting? I don't see any contrast there because when most people think of Asgard, they think about a Viking land.

Change the Viking setting with rural Midwest like in current Thor comics.

I don't know much about Thor but I had an idea of how they could introduce him into the modern world in The Avengers but still have his own film set in Asgard.

In the Avengers, you have Loki as the villian who has escaped Asgard and come to Earth. Odin sends Thor to stop Loki, so when Thor comes to modern Earth the first thing he see's is Hulk causing chaos in a busy city with Iron Man and possibly Captain America trying to stop Hulk. Thor thinks Hulk is some goblin, ogre or troll that Loki brought with him so Thor helps out to stop Hulk with Iron Man and Cap, so they work as a team.

I don't read comics but isn't the Hulk the reason the Avengers were formed? The heroes tried to take Hulk down from a rampage and became a team but then they later realise Hulk didn't mean harm or some crap like that and Hulk joins the team to help them take down Loki.

Something I came up with in like two minutes that with time could make a great film! :oldrazz:

Remember what Kenneth did with Frankenstein?

"Chewy" I know way more than u ever will know.....hehehe..

My time frame of 4-6mths was an exaggeration due to i cant see how THOR will make a cameo instead of the blake character. I doubt IM2 will go for the cheesy thunder/lightning in the background or a silhouette.... (but if done right that could be cool...)

No, you don't.

And your time frame of 4-6mths wasn't an exaggeration, it was absolute BS. More like 1 month, if that.

If you seriously think that anyone believes that you know someone in Marvel or know anything about the production of THOR, you are sorely mistaken.

"Chewy" as much as i am a comic book fanatic/fanboy, i am in the industry... if i were u i wouldn't believe me either....but i will say this, with what i do and who i know it would not be wise of me to say EXACTLY how i know what i know and "whom" i know or what I do.

While u read your comics, websites and wait on trades to make "official" announcements..... i'll keep doing my job which is enjoying the entertainment on here.....

I don't know why people keep assuming that there is gonna be aThor cameo in IM2. That was just a possibility Kevin Feige spoke about after IM´s smashing first weekend. In no way he said it was written in stone. After that, Jon Favreau himself debunked that cameo possibility (just as comparison, he didn't confirm nor deny Sam Jackson's cameo in IM).

I saw go Fantasy. Keep it "modern" but go very wide with the creative nature and setting of the piece.

I always liked the idea that, at first, no one, not even Stark, believes that Thor is actually a God. They think he's just a guy with superpowers who went bananas.
