Thor: Script Reviews/Discussion

Josh Barnett Looks the part...but can he act? I doubt it. LOL

Also he's a little chubbier now so no time to get in shape. :)

When Barnett was still pumping his steroids, he would have been perfect. Provided he had the acting abilities.

Hiya Still A Thorfan matey! :)

Why is it unnecessary?

Its unnecessary because Asgard is pseudo-medieval therefore theres no reason for Thor to travel to Midgard to fight Frost Giants or whatever. A pure fantasy Thor (as opposed to a contemporary superhero Thor) does not need Earth.

Just because they are not following the Journey Into Mystery formula?

No, thats a seperate issue.

If that is your reason the majority of people are glad that formula is not being followed, a lot of people such as myself are very happy that Donald Blake is not in the film.

Such people either don't understand why Blake is relevant, or are either too blinded by machismo and fanboy-ish power levels to care.

And yes Asgard itself is set in a midieval timeframe but Thor has been around for thousands of years so what is so illogical about showing that time on film?

The illogic* comes from having Thor appear simultaneously in the past (his movies) and the present (Avengers movies). Thats whats illogical.

*The context of my initial comment was in response to the statement that Thor could have multiple movies set 'in the past'.

I think you're just upset because you're not getting the version of Thor that you want, which is ER meets Superman.

The version of Thor I want is the Thor from the comics, not simply mythological Thor. I also prefer the movies to build on the battle scenes, not start out with the biggest battle ever which can then never be bettered.

If the writers have found a way to walk the tightrope between heroism and hubris in the Thor character and can set up Blake for the sequel then the first movie could work - although it gives us the problem of topping that in the sequel.

Howdy Kang! :)

Because apparently it makes more sense to have Thor, the God of Thunder, in an ER love triangle than having him fight Frost giants...hmmmmm

The two are not mutually exclusive.

I went to an extreme fighting show here in Ontario, Ca a few months back and my friend introduced me to him. I had no idea who he was but the guy is big. He didn't look fat or anything but in a video I saw (not sure how old) he was. Maybe he's in better shape now. Still he probably can't act since he never has. I guess we'll get Matthew McCaunahay or something.

Let's not worry about battles scenes in the first impossible to top.
If they eventually do get around to Ragnarok, now that'll be a battle scene to rival anything we've seen in Hollywood so far!

lol Travolta better NOT be Thor!

The link above is John Travolta's nephew or something or other. I have no idea of the guy's acting skills, he just doesn't look the part. WHOPPIE he has long hair.

Personally if they ever did a Longshot movie I think he would fit Longshot, because he does fit Art Adams style. lol

lol so he does...I always thought that of John myself. :D

This strike has to be averted. I guess we'll find out the timing of Thor next week.

For one Mckidd has defintly not been chosen and won't be according to Vaughn himself.
Fabio I just can't see as Thor now that I've seen some of the other suggestions. Besides Vaughn is looking for someone in their 20's.

That would be absolutely insane to cast Fabio as Thor. That's so laughable.

I've always thought Carl Urban or Vladimir Kulich would be good candidates. Especially after I saw Kulitch in "The 13th Warrior." But neither of them are young enough, I suppose.

I submit to you, Vladamir as Thor.

Just thoughts. That's all.

I would LOVE to see Valdimir Kulich in Thor in some way, tho he is showing age, and would better fit Odin over Thor right now.

Yeah, I really hate that he is a little too old. He would be great.

What we don't want is just some blond body builder with no acting skills playing Thor. A real actor with the chops to give depth to the character and a decent body will do nicely.

Vaughn just said he is not "THOR". He didn't say he was not in the movie.

I agree AD, I meant that Mckidd wasn't going to be Thor, didn't say anything about Mckidd NOT being in Thor at all.

Matthew wants to shoot in UK?

Matthew Vaughn has apparently declared that after the success of Stardust, he is determined to film his next flick in the UK.

The director's box office No 1, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro, Peter O'Toole and Sienna Miller, was filmed on home soil.

"It obviously bought us luck filming at home and I'm relieved the movie had performed so well in my own country," he told the Daily Mail.

The 36-year-old - who is married to model Claudia Schiffer - is now set to helm his next project Thor, based on the Marvel comic strip.

There is pressure on him to shoot in Hollywood, he apparently admitted, but he is determined to stay in this country.

"We have the A-list actors, designers and cinematographers and crew in Britain, so there's no need to make Thor among the madness in Los Angeles," he is quoted as saying.

I seriously doubt Marvel is gonna film Thor in LA...unless it's all in a studio. Britain's might be ok but Vaughn seems scared to leave home.

Does this mean Thor has began casting? Or is he referring to general actors in Britain? Or actors in Britain being considered for parts in the film?
