Thor: Script Reviews/Discussion

Why is it unnecessary? Just because they are not following the Journey Into Mystery formula? If that is your reason the majority of people are glad that formula is not being followed, a lot of people such as myself are very happy that Donald Blake is not in the film.

And yes Asgard itself is set in a midieval timeframe but Thor has been around for thousands of years so what is so illogical about showing that time on film?

I think you're just upset because you're not getting the version of Thor that you want, which is ER meets Superman.
Well hey wether people liked it or not the version of Thor in the Hulk movie wasn't EXACTLY the same origin either, and that Thor ALMOST had a tv seires then.

Thank God that didn't happen, the guy looked great though.

AND I JUST FOUND THIS...........

BLAKE: Any updates on Thor?

MATTHEW VAUGHN: Mark [Protosevich] and I sat down and worked on the script and handed it in. We are currently waiting to hear what Marvel says. So news at the moment sadly, I wish there was.

BLAKE: Harry (AICN) has said he wants you to cast Ernest Borgnine as Odin for it.

MATTHEW VAUGHN: It’s a great idea [if you think about him in Viking]. Viking is a great film. I think Ernest is probably slightly too old now for the role. But let me say it will [definitely] be an Ernest type. [And let me just say] it ain’t gonna be Kevin McKidd as Thor.

BLAKE: Will you have a Gladiator type theme with it?

MATTHEW VAUGHN: Sort of. [Mainly] it’s going to be a superhero film. It can’t be a Viking movie. It can’t be Gladiator. It can’t be Lord of the Rings. It’s got to be THOR – THE MIGHTY THOR! [At least] in my mind and I want THE MIGHTY THOR set in a gritty Viking world.

Midgard does seem like a Viking world for sure in the script...since he already spoiled it. The thing I was referring to a few posts up that isn't found in today's world are the Longboats with all the oars. :) Oh and nice find SATF. :) That means they've already turned in their revisions. That was freaking fast. Very cool.

Marvel announces earnings on November 5th at 9:00 AM so we are going to hear something abou this then for sure. No doubt at all in my mind the quesiton will be asked.

Edit: I guess they had to do it fast because the WGA Strike deadline is tonight. LOL Whew!

Come to think of it if more actors are versatile like Ed Norton and can write or edit movie scripts, this WGA strike will delay less projects.

Are comic book writers under the WGA? Are comic books even within the parameters of the strike?

Stillathorfan, do you have the direct link to that info above?

OOOoooo you think the "Ernst Type" comment means they'll be looking at Brendan Gleeson for Odin? Brendan could easily be Odin or Volstagg, but then they could get Brian Blessed for Volstagg.

Well with the script written I'm pretty sure Matthew and Mark already knew what they had to cut back before handing in the script the 1st time, so I'm sure making the changes had to be easier than just writting a new script.

I think comic book writters are under the WGA, can't be sure, but Thor from my understanding, has been wrtten several issues ahead.

I also got the feeling they found their Thor. It's just the way Vaughn commented about Kidd. Or maybe he's Loki. :)

lol MAN I wish we knew who is going to be Thor! :D

Josh Barnett Looks the part...but can he act? I doubt it. LOL

Also he's a little chubbier now so no time to get in shape. :)

It may be from earlier in the month but Matt does say they turned it in, so, that is something we didn't know.

OOOO I can't wait for that yahoo BIZ! Hope it does have some kind of updates.

We did know the script was turned in back then, Marvel reviewed it and said it was costed at 300 million and to cut it to 150. However 180 is the cap.

You're a funny guy. At least I'm assuming you're joking. Right?

If not it's Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake/Stardust). Director of Photography has also been snagged.

Haha. You didn't fall for it. It's a old fanboy trick. Good for you, you didn't fall for it like some others do :whatever:

Okay. Thanks AD. You are the glue who keeps the SHH boards together.
