How would the Land Before Time Fare in CGI?

Yes I can. I wouldn't watch them at all. Because the films are fine the way they are and they don't need to be changed. The Special Edition of "Star Wars" proved that when you screw with the classics, there will be hell to pay.

Unfortunately, all of the Don Bluth movies are fading out of the public consciousness. Stuff like "The Land Before Time" and "An American Tail" deserve more recognition.

Well, I liked the Special Edition. Remakes aren't always horrible. There will always be purists that protest, but think of all the new Star Wars fans spawned by the Special Edition and the prequel trilogy.

Well, people of my generation were largely introduced to Star Wars by the Special Edition. Some of my friends didn't start watching Star Wars at all until the prequels came out. I know that older fans don't like them, but the new releases of Star Wars did add a number of new fans.

that's why there are a whole slew of fans (including myself) that prefer the Special Edition to the original release, sans Han shooting first.

a redux version of those cartoons in 3D would most likely populate more interest in those films.

It seems unfair of you to be that big of a film purist that you favor a heavily dated original film and are not willing to acknowledge that younger fans would prefer the newer versions.

Yeah it does. You know how much of a waste of money remaking all of the Disney films using CGI would be? Not even Disney has that kind of money to piss away. If you ask me, they should just get rid of that stupid "Disney Vault" that they have and make all of their films readily available at any time, instead of releasing multiple copies of the same movies over the span of 5-10 years.

I think that the only good things to come out of the Special Editions were that it gave a bunch of fans the opportunity to see the Star Wars trilogy on the big screen again (or for the first time) and that the Special Edition of Return of the Jedi got rid of that stupid ewok song from the end of the original version. Other than that, it was just a case of George Lucas having a midlife crisis and going back to tinker with anything he felt was an "imperfection" in the original movies.

Now I can respect that. It's okay to not like the Special Edition versions or the Prequels, but I definitely respect the fact that you acknowledge that it did help bring in a new generation of Star Wars fans.

I just re-watched The Land Before Time--I finally got around to buying it on DVD. It's such a beautiful film, and almost everything about it is so wonderful. But it's so short, and I could definitely see the plot developed and the characters fleshed out a little more in a remake (although the characters are more than well-developed as is, and the plot is simple and concise, with rather quick pacing).
