How would you do a JLA movie?

The more high profile actors/actresses you have in your film, the more they are going to eat up the budget..you have just 2 high profile actors in 1 movie,1 for 20 million, the other for 15 million, that's already $35 million out of the $100 million the studio is willing to put up,even before the cameras start rolling.Today's Hollywood celebs want more and more all the time.

Great effects? Not hugely necessary for the JLA film. Superman looking bulletproof, easy. Flash moving super fast, easy, even show his POV through super-slo mo. Green lantern energy, simple green CGI(cheap as it's not realism). Explosions etc are simple enough.

Still at the end of the day you are going to have 4 people flying and 1 person in superspeed in one scene at least. That is an expensive scene and you then have to factor in the big final battle with whichever baddie is deemed the threat, you know it will be a big name actor that does that role too, that character will prolly take a bit of CGI. I mean there is no way you are getting around a budget under $400 million, plus its going to need a huge crew and Routh and Bale to get this movie even off the ground.

DDM, you story is pretty good. I wouldn't mind paying to see that. What do you have planned for a sequal.

as for the sequel well I never really planned that but I'll make one and post it 4 ya

Comicfan4life here yea go kinda messy but its good

This movie revolves around the League's second year since they've formed, they have established a base to keep track of things (Cincinnati Terminal Museum or in the movie the Hall of Justice) . Batman works closely with them, The film starts with a shot of a spaceship then a mysterious figure is shown sitting in a chair in the darkness when a voice is heard over the loud speaker "sir, we have found something you might find interesting" cut to a eye closeup on the mystery person "Excellent!". Cut to the League watching a news reporter speaking of an attack down by the bay by someone wearing a black wetsuit and a bug eyed helmet that looks like the head of a Manta Ray. "Time to do what we do best!" says Superman as they prepare to leave. They arrive at the scene to see Black Manta backing down the police with his Manta Rays just as the League prepares to attack a giant whirlpool shoots out of the water (cut to slo mo cam of Aquaman diving out of the center of the whirlpool) "Aquaman! just the man I wanted to see" says Black Manta. Aquaman lands on the ground "You never get enough do you Manta", "Your times up Aquaman Im the ocean's new master" says Black Manta as he charges at Aquaman full force but Aquaman ducks and uppercuts Manta leaving him unconcious. "Tell Luthor" he said "That if wants to destroy my home, he better come stronger than this" the League capture him and he is brought in for questioning. Cut to Thanagar where there is a major war going on between Thanagarian's and invaders from an attacking spaceship scenes of Kator and Shayera Hol breaking through waves of enemies trying to get to the spaceship they break open the entrance and go inside. Once inside they investigate to find out who ordered the attack they eventually stumble upon the main control room where the mysterious figure from the begining of the film is show with the back of his chair faced toward a monitor showing the events happening outside. Kator and Shayera try to sneak up on him but are already expected it turns out to be the infamous Darkseid and he says "Did you know that the greatest pain is not physical but comes from within? I see this within you, within your people and you know feeding off of that, its a good feeling!" angered Shayera prepares to attack but Kator stops her."Be careful" says Darkseid "A person becomes most reckless when angered" he then orders for them to be locked away. Cut to Batman roughing up Black Manta to get answers Manta he then tosses Manta against the wall and he finally gives in "L-Lex Luthor he hired me he said that my job was to get rid of Aquaman said somethin bout treasure "what treasure!" Batman said angrily "S-Somethin bout using Atlantases treasure as a peace offering or somethin he said that without Aquaman they would be defense-less" Batman walks away "aww I think I pissed myself" Black Manta said. Just as Batman was about to exit the interrogation room the ground starts to rumble the spaceship arrives on Earth. Darkseid gives the orders and the invasion begins. Lex Luthor is the first one to get to the ship to swear his allegance he tells Darkseid that his plans didnt go so well but he would like to create an alliance and in exchange for power he will be given more than he promised before. Lex is then given his infamous purple and green armor by Darkseid. Cut to the league all meeting outside of the Hall of Justice they notice Darkseids army and all go their seperate ways into battle, then clips of different leaguers are shown in battle. Cut to Superman taking on ten goons at a time and he's begining to get weak suddenly Aquaman arrives and helps out Superman, Aquaman joins the team, seeing that his kingdom will also fall under the rule of Darkseid if nothing is done. Kator and Shayera manage to escape and join in the battle against Darkseid, the battle rages on (in a epic camera type like in 300) until right in the middle a loud scream is heard (cut to scenes of all the leaguers eyes looking over in widescreen). Kator is shown tired brused and nearly dead taking on Lex Luthor one on one until one final epic blow sends Kator to the ground dead, Shayera screams out in pain and charges at Lex, suprised he gets swept from the side and hits the ground Shayera prepares to bash his face in with her war hammer Superman interrups saying "Wait! he's not worth it this isnt what Kator would have wanted" she ignores him and continues to attack but then remembers what Darkseid said back on the ship "A person becomes most reckless when angered" and she refrains from attacking. Shayera walks away to go help the others as Lex tries to crawl away he is stopped by Darkseid standing in his way Darkseid says "You are a utter disgrace to my name and your legacy you dont deserve to work with me and or stay in the same galaxy as me" Darkseid then uses his omega beams on Lex erasing him from the universe. Green Lantern flies over and says "You monster he was evil but your on a whole new level" Darkseid says "Ahh! Green Lantern I have been watching Oa and the rest of you for sometime now your planet is next, but for now I have done some minor damage to your hometown! hahahaha!" curious Green Lantern flies off to Coast City. Cut to a scene of Coast City in ruins and then Hal's fist tightens and tears begin to fall from his eyes he flies at superspeed back to the battle ground (kinda like Neo in Matrix Revolutions). It begins to rain a shot of Wonder Woman noticing Green Lantern returning is shown and then Green Lantern is shown walking directly through the battle past every goon to Darkseid without stopping Hal then creates a blade with his ring and puts it up to Darkseid's neck "What are you going to do with that? except make me mad" Darkseid says and then Hal replies "Y-You killed them. You killed them all. They're dead. Every single one of them and you shall join them". Hal then begins to beat Darkseid senseless never giving up a single blow Darkseid eventually gets thrown towards his ship and flies through the window he then uses the intercom to call all his soilders back and flies away the team comes to congratulate Hal but he just walks past them in hate and says "I QUIT!" "What! you cant just quit we need you" Superman said "yeah! well they needed me more and now look at them their all dead! Im outta here". He takes off into space and Flash says " Will he be ok?" Superman responds "Give him time but until then Shayera we have decided to make you and Aquaman honorary members" they both gladly accept and Shayera says "I hope he's ok" a zoom out of the whole team staring into the stars as the stars fade to black the end credits begin to roll.

I said don't use big names, have it seperate to what is there so far. Flying can be done pretty cheap indeed. Have a smaller film crew to start with, Minimal CGI is easy, you don't need to CGI everything like spider-man 3 etc, there are so many pointless costs incurred in blockbusters etc, if you wanted to make a quality film, you don't need to spend crap loads.

It was good. Just a few things though. 10 goons should've been easy for supes. Sure darkseid trains his men to the extreme, but they should've been easy. The aquaman entrance was cool, but the manta fight could've been longer. The I pissed myself line is too much. Aquaman should've interrogated him. Luthor and Supes should've gone at it. Darkseid is too big of a threat. If a solo fight was going to take place it should've been with supes, or better yet the whole league. The league is about team work after all. Hawkman killed by Lex?! Those were my only thing about it, but other than that 8.5/10. Lots of good concepts and I can imagine the 300 battle scene, Hal's reaction was great. Movie: 8.5/10. Comic Movie: 6/10 most people would have a fit about supes not fighting luthor in supersuit form, or hawk dying. I can see that. But other than that you did a good job.

thanks well I was tryin to get it up as soon as possible so I waskinda rushing it puttin whatever came first:woot:

Who'd be in your league? Who'd be the villain(s)? How would it all come together? Etc. I love reading everyones ideas and seeing different takes, I'll post my idea soon. So post away :yay:

My League movie would be pretty straightforward.

Basic Plot: As metahuman activity increases worldwide, mental and physical powerhouse, Despero comes to lay claim to Earth for his dark master.

Heroes: Batman, Green Lantern, Superman, Wonderwoman, Flash.
Cameos: Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Hawkman, Hawkwoman, Zatanna
Villains: Despero, Ultramarines, foreshadow Darkseid
Supporting: General Eiling, Amanda Waller, Lois Lane, Alfred, Linda Park, Salaak, Lex Luthor

Basic Scene Breakdown:

The movie opens up at a Metahuman conference. Flash and GL are there as heroes (they have public IDs) while Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent and Diana of Themyscira are all there for civillian reasons, along with Lex Luthor and General Eiling. A demonstration of the government's answer (Ultramarine chariacatures) to metahumanity goes awry, prompting the intervention of the two guests of honor as well as Superman, Wonder Woman and a mysterious well placed Batarang from the crowd. And there's some rude comments from Eiling about aliens.

These events lead to the activation of a sattelite that attracts a passing "asteroid's" attention. It veers off and we get shadows and maybe a glimpse of a midnight purple hand grabbing onto the Space Station, with Astronauts and Cosmonauts going all purple eyed.

We cut to the Space Shuttle coming down, crashing, Superman and GL are on the scene, they catch it, and land it safely, and after a sequence of purple eyed innocent bystanders questioning them, Despero bursts from the shuttle, outmuscling supe and slowing GL with innocents before denouncing earth's corrupt heroes and stalking off to go build his army, heading East.

Superman and GL decide to split duties. GL goes to Oa to research and Superman goes around recruiting heroes. Hawkman and Hawkgirl turn him down, prefering their civillain lives this reincarnation. Aquaman can't be bothered. Wonder Woman says she'll think about it. Clark Kent goes to interview Bruce Wayne, but when they get down to it, Bruce thinks its a horrible idea. (Supes notices Batman begin to lead-line the cave). Zatanna feels it's over her head. Flash is naturally in and they go to Europe to recon where Despero is taking on tanks and then adding them to his ranks. Turns out Batman is there and gets Desperoed for a moment before he moves out of range and retreats back to his lab. Meanwhile, Superman gets mindjacked and Flash can barely survive the attack, until he out races Superman out of Despero's range.

Meanwhile, Green Lantern meets with General Eiling, along with undercover Diana Prince, giving a tour of Area 51, which may have to do with the Despero Crisis. Turns out the government has a puddle of unstable martian lifeform there that hid out on Earth's moon. J'onn tells the heroes what Despero is all about, and how dire the situation is. GL, WW, Superman and Flash agree to meet up in Happy Harbor. (Maybe a moment to tribute/cameo the Justice Society). Together they discuss their next movie, have arguements and suspect Batman, who emerges from the shadows and (Before a fight even starts) cleverly defeats all but Wondy, who, truth insured, agrees that he is Despero-free and on their side.

The final conflict looms, Despero approaches the USA's West Coast, all of Europe and Asia's Naval and Airforces leading the way, with Nukes armed as well. The four heroes battle, only to find Eiling's Ultramarines brainjacked by Despero, making things that much harder. Superman and Wonder Woman double team Despero as Batman works his way in to help the group resist Despero's sound/vibration-based mind-control. Batman has some soundjammers, he shows GL how to do it and Flash outvibrates the effect while Wonder Woman's lasso saves her and Superman fights the effect on pure willpower.

Big Giant, mountain-crushing, state-spanning, jaw-dropping battle. Make DBZ look like kid's doodles.
(ie, Despero uppercuts Wonder Woman in LA and she lands in San Francisco)
(ie, Flash punches Pulse8 in Phoenix, snatches some civillians from a bombing in Seattle, pummels some thugs in Vegas and then puts in another hit for Pulse8 in Phoenix again, all in the same ten seconds)
(ie, Superman gets nuked, and then staggers out of it, clothes in shreds, trying to stand, then readying himself to fight a menacing Despero)
(ie, GL emerges from charging his ring with a green army backing him up)

So the heroes finally defeat the Ultramarines and Despero, ending his control of the world army, Despero gives some speech about how the world fears their awesome power, and how weak this world is and how easily it will be controlled by his dark master. Eiling comes to 'rightfully' collect him, but Wonder Woman barters Despero for the martian's freedom. With J'onn's intervention the heroes agree on meeting date to talk about Metahuman affairs... and a name. The Justice League of America.

At least... that's how I would do it.

I don't know about the plot exactly but I have an idea how it should be presented.
The superheroes should be like these grand god like beings,
so that when they get together its a HUGE and marvelous deal.

It shouldn't just be a group of heroes getting together. It should be BIG, Superman is on the team, Batman is on the team, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman.
It should give the viewers the impression that these heroes (who on their own are very powerful) are now forming a team.

My personal casting choices would be:
League:
Superman: Brandon Routh (who, if he refuses, could be replaced by Dean Cain if we can work him back up to Superman size again)
Batman: Christian Bale (who better not refuse because I have no idea who could replace him)
Wonder Woman/Diana of Thymescara(sp?): Dina Meyer
Green Lantern/Hal Jordan (yes, we need to start with Hal, he was the first of the JLA Lanterns, Alan Scott was JSA): Nathan Fillion
The Flash/Wally West: Eric Close
Martian Manhunter/J'onn Jonnz: Carl Lumbly with alot of green makeup.
Lucious Fox: Morgan Freeman

For the purposes of saving space and character usage, I would do what the animated series did, and combine the personalities of Wally West and Plastic Man. Adding Plastic Man would just make it too difficult from a casting perspective as well as bringing the number up to eight main characters, and that would really make it hard to get a good plot without leaving someone more or less out.

Basic Plot:
I really like the idea of them facing the White Martians as their first mission.
Basically, I want much of the plot from the first episode of the animated series, with a few major and some minor changes.
I see The Martian Manhunter attempting to warn Earth of the White Martians, who have awoken from their enforced hibernation, but being unaccustomed to Earth's paranoia, he gets captured by the US military and locked up for study. As in the first episode of the JLA animated series, he tries to contact Superman through telepathy, the Kryptonians mind being the closest to his own mind patterns, as well as the most trustworthy person to receive the message.
Meanwhile, Batman has been investigating a series of odd and untraceable purchases on the black market of really high tech circuitry, pieces that even the Batcomputer has been unable to find a link between. While investigating, he stumbles upon what looks like Lucious Fox, his own company's executive acquired another piece of odd, high end circuitry. Following him, Batman manages to glimpse Fox changing, and for a split second we see the true form of a White Martian, which, like in the JLA comics, should be really darn scary.
Unsure of what he's seen and also unsure of what kind of a response he would get if he told anyone of this, he travels to Metropolis to seek out the only person he deems qualified to understand or even comprehend the situation. Bruce Wayne is interviewed by Clark Kent and Lois Lane, simply asking why he's in Metropolis. In traditional Wayne style he gives a reason like he's seeing the sights, all the while watching Clark Kent like a hawk, because he's used his detective skills, and the logic processing power of the Batcomputer to narrow down a list of possible people who could be Superman in disguise. Clark is second on the list, next to Lex Luthor, who Bruce has yet to meet in person. Figuring Lex's money grubbing exterior to be an act like his own, Bruce sets up a meeting, immediately afterwards we see him crossing Lex off his list, someone that slimy could not possibly be the Man of Steel, unless Superman charged for his services...
At night, Batman patrols the streets of Metropolis, much like he does in Gotham, figuring that while he's here he might as well do some good, and also hoping that any actions he takes will be noted by Superman, possibly earning his trust enough to meet with him.
While patrolling, Batman finds yet another high end purchase of circuitry, which he didn't expect to find here. Now realizing that whatever is going on is much larger than expected, he decides he cannot wait for Superman to come to him, he needs to find the Man of Steel quickly.
The next day, Bruce Wayne stops by Clark Kent's office and asks if he'd like a cup of coffee, and charmingly states that he'd be willing to give Clark a personal interview detailing the real reasons he's in Gotham.
While at the diner, Bruce tests Clark's reactions to things, all while acting clumsy and typically foppish. He spills his coffee on Clark, and notes that it takes Clark an extra second to 'react' to the pain. When they go to sit down, Bruce 'trips' and notes Clark's almost superhuman reaction time in catching him. As a clincher, Bruce uses a laser cutter when Clark isn't looking, and cuts into the ceiling panels over an empty table. A few seconds later, the panels start to fall, and Bruce, pretending to run away in fear, turns back to watch Clark manage to catch the panel all on his own and somehow jury rig the ceiling back into place.
That night, when Clark Kent returns from the Daily Planet, he enters his apartment and is so distracted by the fact that a secret panel in his closet is open, revealing his spare Superman costumes, that Batman manages to actually sneak up on him.
"Hello Superman." He says.
Clark sighs and takes off his glasses, then sneakily tries to xray Batman's cowl to find out who he is.
Batman however, knowing all there is to know about him, has lead lined his costume.
However, Batman states that he wants Superman's trust, because in the time he's been with Clark, he has come to realize that Superman would be an ideal ally, and a genuinely good friend in times of dire need.
As a sign of friendship, Batman pulls back his cowl, revealing his identity on his own terms, before detailing why he's in Metropolis and what he's seen.
Superman in turn tells Batman of these visions he's been having, of Mars, and some kind of bunker somewhere. Batman offers to help find the bunker, using Superman's descriptions, if Superman will help him try and uncover what's going on with the 'shape shifters' as he calls them.
They end up finding the bunker, and releasing the Martian Manhunter, who describes his message of warning, and in so doing, confirms Batman's suspicions. The three of them, realizing that this is much too big, even for them, set to work building a fortress. Superman suggests Antarctica, where he has his own place of Solitude, but Batman disagrees stating that to deal with something like this, they need somewhere almost unreachable except by those with Superpowers like Superman. They decide on the moon and split up, Superman and Batman to begin building a moon base, the Watchtower, and J'onn to travel in disguise, looking for any others with the aptitude to help them, and more importantly, believe them. He finds Green Lantern and the Flash, taking them to the moon base to speak with Superman, whom both admit they would believe anything from. They join, and in no time at all, the Watchtower is completed, and operational. With the help of J'onn's knowledge of Martian tendencies, Batman begins to track down possible White Martians in disguise.

The White Martians however, have not been idle. Completing the device they've been working towards, they arm a large super cannon, with armor years ahead of any human weapon, and the ability to alternately destroy specific targets using focused laser and photon beams, or to desecrate large sections of land and start a chain reaction that will ultimately turn the land fired upon into soil suitable for the White Martians to live without having to take human form upon.
They test their weapon on a small, hidden island, known as Thamyscara. Though the weapon is complete, it is not perfect, and the Amazonian technology is able to partially deflect the beam. Nontheless, damage is done to the Amazon's home, and Diana, Princess of the island, decides to leave the island in search of whomever has committed this act. She attracts the media's attention, and thus, Superman's. He goes to speak with her, and convinces her to come to the Watchtower with him. She is briefed on the situation and agrees to help them, until this menace has been destroyed. The now complete JLA begin to search for the White Martians. What ensues is a game of cat and mouse, the JLA managing to capture a few of their enemy, but being thwarted on any attack that could give them information on the device.
Then, the White Martians take the next step, and fire on Manhattan Island. As the beam travels towards New York, Wally West uses his speedforce to slow the beam considerably, Hal Jordan pours as much power as his ring can into a shield, which the beam does break through and Superman quite literally stands in front of it, taking the now considerably lessened beam directly on the S on his chest. It knocks him out of the sky, but Manhattan is saved. Batman, though amazed at the efficiency of the team work they had just displayed, admonishes Clark for letting himself stand in the way of the beam, noting that even at the 'wide dispersal setting' the beam nearly killed the Man of Steel.
The White Martians are infuriated, and resolve to defeat the JLA, whatever the cost.

And I hate to say it, but thats about as far as I can think right now. Someone is welcome to finish it if they want, basically, the JLA defeats the White Martians, dismantling the device and Diana decides to stay with the League in order to protect the entirety of Earth, instead of just her island.

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash & Green Lantern (Stewart) vs. Darseid and Apokalips.

Budget: 350 million.

Make it.

The Roster:

Superman

Batman

Wonder Woman

Martian Manhunter

Green Lantern

The Flash

Black Canary

Aquaman

The Story: I'd actually obstain from an origin film. I'd start the movie with the League already well established, doing stuff like disaster relief, giving support to U.N. Peacekeeping forces, and aiding scientific reaserch and space exploration. There'd be some brief exposition, probably in the form of a news report, that quickly mentions how they came together. Naturally, Batman is nowhere to be seen in any of the public crap, and would usually be busy in Gotham and otherwise helping the League as a consult and helping to fund them along with a mysterious benifactor. While Batman would be the least public, Aquaman and Green Lantern would actually be the least active, as they have other responsibilities to the Corps and Atlantis respectively.

However, GL does play a big part, at least in the begining. While on patrol, he runs across an unidentified craft entering the Sol System (our solar system). He asks that they stop and identify themselves, but they instead emerge from the craft and quickly over power him.

When they arrive on Earth, they introduce themselves as the Hyperclan, super powered alien refugees from a now dead world who are searching for a home. A bit that has them, somewhat comically, getting aclimated to Earth's culture, and meeting with the various League members. Most of the League are somewhat suspicious of them, especially Bruce and J'onn. Eventually, The Hyperclan gain U.S. citizenship and try to join the Justice League. The League is unsure, but J'onn says that it would be a good idea.

Soon, however, they're called on a mission that goes terribly wrong. The Flash is injured, Wonder Woman is burried under a mountain, and Aquaman gets lost in the dessert. Meanwhile, military defenses all over the world mysteriously begin to shut down. Superman readies to go and try to fix things, but he is quickly subdued by Protex, leader of the Hyperclan, who reveals that the Hyperclan are in fact the first strike force of the last remnants of the Martian race (other than J'onn, of course), and what's happening is, obviously, an invasion. With most of the League incopasitated, the only ones left to save the day are Batman, J'onn, Black Canary, and the League's other, mysterious benifactor, Oliver Queen. Badassery insues.

couple changes IMO
change John stewart to Hal Jordan
Black Canary as more of a cameo
Joker instead of 2 face

What's wrong with John Stewart and Two-Face? Also why does Balck Canary have to be more of a cameo?

no I was just saying that to me Joker is a more primary candidate for the leigon of doom and as for Black Canary I really dont think she is part of the original group but thats just my opinion

Characters

Superman (Routh), Batman (Bale), Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter.

Plot

I'd take some cues from the JL cartoon pilot. It had the perfect balance of action and story. It was only roughly over 60 minutes and didn't feel rushed at all. I'd probably just adapt the pilote but expand on it enough so it still feels different enough. Maybe change the enemy to White Martians.

did superfriends have any real pilot? IDK maybe they can use that

Base it off the beginning of Grant Morrison's run, but with some alterations...

Superman
Batman
Wonder Woman
Flash
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
Aquaman
Martain Manhunter
Plastic Man

vs.

The White Martians

Use the three part pilot to the Timmverse "Justice League" as a template.
