How would you have done the movie?

Wolverines jacket honestly received more character development than most of the mutants that pop up in this movie.
LOL!
And more Gambit. Seriously. Most critics say he was one of the best things in the movie.

Apart from your love of the character, which is fine, what did you like about Gambit so much? I'm really trying to grasp this since everyone seems to be going ga-ga over Gambit.

Taylor Kitsch played the character well, I will say that much, but the character wasn't given almost anything to do and he seemed to be just in the movie because he's Gambit. I hardly think that makes him the best part of the movie, IMO.

I generally liked the movie but here's what I'd improve on.

1. Establish more character development from the special ops group. They should have remarked how hard it was to find these guys. Then when Blob and Wraith talk about Stryker's plans they reveal they'd been finding more and more mutants.

2. More scenes of Wolverine killing other people. He was too nice in some scenes. I also wished they could have hinted more about his time in Japan, because that post-credit scene was out of place. Back on the plane he could have told Wade his sword is a factory copy, and then Sabretooth would laugh and say their claws are original. I also think it would have been cool if there was a small scene of Logan slashing some training dummies outside his home, just to test his skills.

3. Improve the wolverine folklore scene. I had a hard time keeping up with Kayla's story because the camera was just sticking her face at us with bad lighting.

4. Better CGI work was needed. The green screens were obvious in the end. It didn't feel natural compared to the scenes of Canada.

Oh, the movie would've been wicked if it ended with this scene that was posted earlier:

Oh, another thing I would change... I wouldn't recast Stryker. Brian Cox was wicked.

- His outfit. Not sure yet about the hat, but loved the coat.
- They gave him his trade-mark poker cards, and bo staff, and used them both properly. Some people complain that it seemed like the cards were levitating; whatever, for me its fine. The way he ùsed the staff and fought with it was great.
- The casino. The whole aura of the place totally matches with his personality.
- "Do I owe you money?" "Then Remy leBeau I am". Great.
- They made his eyes glowing red when he was about to throw the first card; that's good enough for me when it comes to the eyes.
- Good try on the accent. Could have been better, but it was decent.
- Taylor's hot, Gambit's hot.
- The fight in the alley.
- The conversation with Logan in the plane; very in character for the both of them.
- I could go on. I wish they would have given him more screen tiem, more lines, more everything, but it's a start, no? Overall, I'm just happy 'cause they did him justice (finally) and it was great to see him in action.

I thought the movie was actually pretty good.
The only thing I would have done is have an extra scene or two about Logan's time with team X, and have a scene where Wade either volunteers, or is sedated (or something along those lines) to be Weapon XI, intead of having it pop up randomly

this movie has its moments but they just don't save the movie.

do any you remember a film called "full eclipse" staring mario van peebles.

well in this film there is a subplot about a covert action team with super werewolf powers that does undercover missions for the government. and basically they are a stealth team that rips the enemy to shreds

check out the trailer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_Xc_izjTn0

so i thought that the team x would be close to what we see in this trailer.

but basically the film could've done this. this film did not need blob, wraith, gambit, or dominic mongaugn at all. this film suffers from the fact that they wanted it to appeal to the kiddies.

and this movie is definitely okay for the kiddies.

personally i think the opening scene could've been longer. the first half of the film could've fleshed out the james howlett - thomas logan family portion.
they could've portrayed thomas logan as a child beater that he is in the comics. they could've also in a subtle way hinted at the affair between thomas logan and elizabeth. and then we see the breadown of the relationships when the shooting happens. this way the "you gave it to him and he deserved it" would make more sense. because victor hates his father.

then after the opening montage basically we could've got an explanation as to how we go from (james howlett - logan) and from victor to victor creed and ultimately to sabertooth.

i had always thought that james and victor had taken the names of dead soldiers they had killed during the wars. that could've been what they did in this movie.

then we see a series of missions with victor, logan (james), deadpool, and agent zero only. no wraith. no blob. we see some brutal missions. during this time we see that logan/victor act as like the dynamic duo but they are brutal bad guy brothers who show no mercy on the enemy they are attacking. i would've made silver fox as a human who is basically a tactical tech/weapon support surveilance person for team x and stryker. also she would've been american-indian like in the comics.

basically team x members are basically 5 captains in strykers little private army. and they overthrow dictators and go on covert missions and take out the so called bad guys in a brutal fashion. so ryan reynolds would basically provide the comic relief in this sense but he would've had more screen time.

so the parts where stryker refers to logan and victor as "captains" would make sense in this light.

and once silver fox sees that they (team x) are on the wrong side. she begins a romance with logan and she convinces logan to leave the team x with her for good. basically logan IS an animal who is the best at what he does. And stryker fears that he cannot control logan. he begins to realize this when he is developing the adamantium bonding process in its sketch-blueprint phase with dr. cornelus and the woman doctor who says to logan "whatever the reason you are doing this"

silver fox helps logan begin to see that he has been on the dark side for too long, but essentially is a good guy who is fighting for the wrong cause.
Silver fox helps him see this. also in this film silver fox would not be a mutant. i would've had her as a human.

so he does leave the team. so this would make sense as an opening for why and how logan meets kayla/silver fox. and then the whole bit with stryker trying to get wolverine to rejoin the team while he is a lumberjack would make sense. also i would've made silver fox american-indian like in the comics.

and then the whole tale she tells about "the wolverine" could've had alittle american indian visual montage feel to it thus making it alittle more emotional/spiritual meaning connection.

so then creed gets angry and takes logan leaving the team personally from a brother sibling rivalry point of view. And we see that he has always secretly disliked logan for killing his father all those years ago. so now when kayla convinces logan to leave the team it sends him over the edge.

so on the day of wolverine's birthday. we see the day begin with a birthday cake for logan from kayla. then logan proposes marrige to kayla. its a happy day for logan.

then victor kills silver fox the same way we see it in the film. with the whole bear head thing and the running thru the woods scene and all that but i would've had it more brutal too. i would've shown that her throat had been cut by claws marks and maybe her clothes torn like maybe she had been raped too maybe. so when wolverine cries out at the sky we feel his pain instead of laughing at the sillines.

then the whole battle at the lumber yard would've been built up more. with the only difference being i would've shown that victor completely crushes up wolverine's bone claws on both knucles in a painful fashion and almost kills him slashing his guts soaking logan in his own blood. so it would've been a brutal battle.

then stryker approaches logan in the hospital. logan is still healing but healing more quickly than most would be able to. telling him he is sorry for his loss and that he has made funeral arrangements for kayla. logan heals very quickly and then leaves the hospital with styker but his pride is hurt by the fact that his bone claws are now gone and that he could not beat victor, kayla is dead and that he has no purpose in life.

logan then uncovers the adamantium bonding blue prints that stryker was developing for logan when with team x and learns about it tells stryker he wants the adamantium so that he can defeat victor and then he will rejoin the team x. and that now that kayla is gone that he could never return to a peaceful life and that he belongs on the battle field.

so stryker agrees to do the adamantium process. then ofcourse i would've made the weapon x facility more like what we have seen in the x2 flashacks just newer looking. it would've been dark and very bloody and frankenstien like as we see in the flashbacks. then he escapes. i would've intermixed the same footage we've seen in x2 flashbacks with matching new footage.

suring the underwater phase of the experinemtn logan blacks out. i would show a dream-like montage showing that victor looks like thomas logan making a visual connection. a dream-like montage showing how horrible his life has been and that thomas logan killed his father-figure. and that victor killed his woman too. so this increase his hatred of victors image. so wolverine then awakens and bursts out of the water slashing and killing everything in sight.

then we see wolverine meet heather and james hudson instead of ma and pa kent. the couple tries to help wolverine by giving him food and shelter. we then see that the military brass (not stryker) deems weapon x, stryker a failure and he orders agent zero to take wolverine out. So then we get the helicopter motorcycle thing. and wolverine takes out agent zero and company. and heather and james hudson escape getting killed. at this point it is not revealed that james hudson is a mutant or with a team called alpha flight.

then once the military general sees that they can't control wolverine they deem the team x weapon x project a failure and plan to jail and or excute stryker and erase all records or team x because the project is comprimised.

so then stryker panics and gets ahold wade wilson by knocking him unconcious and then they make him into weapon 11 and then kills the general before the can give the order to termainate team x.

so we still would get the braraka version of deadpool. its just that we would not get the laser blast ability or the cyborg element. stryker would basically subject wade wilson to the same underwater tank procedure.

so then heather and james hudson help logan get back to the weapon x facility and then basically we get a battle between logan and sabertooth just more drawn out. then there is a point where the battle is epic and they go crashing thru a wall. and then we see a series of stages. the stage look similar to what we have seen. we see the cabin he lived in with kayla. we see the old mansion he grew up in. we see props from the wars he fought in.

so just like in the animated series. we learn that stryker has been using his son jason who is under ice and emma frost mind DNA and a machine of some sort to create fake memmories for both sabertooth and logan. and that kayla never died. and that she is alive and healthy. and the she never loved him and the she was just following orders. and that the people who were the parents of logan and victor were not real people. just like in the animated series.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ziRpdSy1uM

so just like in the matrix we see that the both them don't really know who they really are and everything around them was not real. they both have no past and no future and they are just weapons. and that stryker did this to control both of them because they are the best at what they do and the only way to control them is to manipulate their minds. but the ideas is that he failed and that the miliary lost faith in him and tried to shut him down.

they both begin to realize may not really be brothers. and that his whole life is lie. and that the only thing they have left is to kill each other. victor goes nuts and kills kayla. so the "this time you die for real" part would fit. then wolverine see her die "again" and he goes crazy because he really loved her.

then the battle continues but wolverine with his new adamantium dominates victor nearly killing him. he then is almost about to kill victor when he stops short because he really does not want to be animal and just knocks him out with a punch. so the "feels good doesn't it all that rage. do it"

then wolverine sees that other mutants are being imprisoned in cages so he then seets them free along with young emma frost. he then begins to lead the kids out of the the facility when he runs into the baraka version of deadpool. but deadpool is under mind control hypnosis with his mouth swen shut. so this way the whole point of his character makes sense. then the battles continues and wolverine gets the upper hand inthe battle and slices deadpools mouth back open and knocks deadpool down a fire pit or something and deadpools whole body gets burned.

then heather and james hudson show up in a helicopter and help the kids and wolverine escape. so basically the movie ends with james offering to recuit logan to be apart of department H and we get cameos of alpha flight team members. and then the movie ends.

and maybe the suprise ending could be the deadpool in his classic costume telling a joke breaking the fourth wall.

so we leave it open for a sequel so the whole loosing the memory and sabertooth changing in appearance for another film.

now that could've been the whole movie. it would've been mostly faithful to the comics

Okay, now we know everything. And to me, there's ALOT of things that could of been done differently. If you didn't like the film or hell, have nitpicks of it, openly discuss what you would change. Except for the Sabretooth thing. I mean, it's ovious, Mane can't act, this Victor is an essential part of Logan's life and with Mane that would not of worked.

I have a ****load of stuff, but I'll save it for later.

Make it exacly the way the game did it. It feels like the X-2 set, it's gritty, intense...and VIOLENT.

And Wolverine aint too nice.

I Agree Rated R Snyder was gonna do it but he wanted rated r and they wanted pg 13 so he just said never mind

Both Singer and Snyder were offered it before Gavin but singer was doing Valkyrie and Snyder was doing watchmen

like i have said my main problem is the Whole tone of the film it was too clean and stylized when it should of been gritty and dark like watchmen

Wolverine should of been as bad ass as Rorschach

honestly, I don't think much, besides minor nitpicks... it's a pretty solid film

An extra 30 minutes at least to flesh out some of the more minor characters.

when was the last time fox made a film that was 2 hours or more i cant think of one.It shows fox cares more about money and more screenings than making quality film and respect for the fans.

- Give Rothman the boot and/or keep him away from meddling with the movie productions
- Better writers
- More practical effects than bad CGI
- More time for the minor characters

The basics were there. But the execution of this stuff was awful.

1. Actually given the characters some development. Specifically Wolverine, Sabertooth and Stryker.

2. Made Gambit a member of Weapon X, faithfulness be damned. Develop him at least a little bit.

3. Replaced the helicopter with an invasion by his former Weapon X teammates, including Deadpool.

Weapon XI/Deadpool felt "unfinished" which I guess was the intention in the film, but they could have touched him up a bit with CGI. I remember Rothman saying the character was going to be "state of the art" so I was expecting something more.

Agreed. The basics were good, but how they did it wasn't.

But if you think about it, what would a great Wolverine film cover?

I can see two scenes with young James. The opening should be James and Victor hunting an animal like Victor teaching him how to do it. James won't kill it, wounds it but Victor kills it. Good representation of the animal theme and we know these two have a tense relationship.

Actualy ****ing scenes of the wars. They don't need to be ten minutes, just enough ofr us to know what they went through. Maybe something like the Watchmen flashbacks as Blakels funeral.

Hell, maybe the film can start off with Logan in the tank and the flahsback to the points in his life leading up to this moment. Once we retrace the procedure happens and then breaks out. BLEEDING!

I was hoping someone would make this thread. Anyways, I would've extended the Origins another 20 minutes. Pretty much a condensed version of the book, giving more reasoning behind James' name like Logan and Wolverine. I'd still have Rose, and end the first act with Logan roaming in the forest with the wolves. Even a single shot of a scene like that could be the definitive scene for a Wolverine movie. As time goes by, he fights in some wars, on his own, until he's recruited by Stryker to join Team X, a team of mercenaries assigned to kill any global threat (nothing Hydra sized, but drug rings and so on). Being that Logan is an animalistic beast, he doesn't mind getting his hands dirty, as long as the people he kills are guilty. He joins, and here he meets Victor Creed, Wade Wilson, John Wraith, and David North. They go on high class missions, killing criminals all over the world. Logan gets used to it, but he almost understands that there has to be something wrong with this. At one point, at the end of act 2, after numerous altercations with Stryker and Victor and an incident similar to the one at Lagos, Logan quits, but they don't let him. He fights back, and continues fighting and running all through the 3rd act, with Wraith joining him. In the end, after stabbing Victor through the skull, Weapon X captures him, and give him the adamanitum. After escaping, he kills everyone there, and runs out into the woods. A couple rescues him, and when they ask him his name, he simply replies "I can't remember" and the movie ends.

Logan would pretty much evolve from a monster to a more noble man, only to have his transformation ruined by the adamanitum bonding. His "friendship" with Victor grows, but after realizing Victor is only in it for the murder, he pushes him away and starts to hate him.

No Gambit, no Cyclops, no one from the previous X-films that hasn't been mentioned here.

- longer running length, more time spent on the team and the adamantium experiment

- darker and grittier

- either cut out all the superfluous cameo characters or do something with them

- have Deadpool be Deadpool

- more polished special effects
