It's not a reboot bc those things still happened; they just have been wiped out of history. A reboot would mean the new films have no connection to the old ones and they clearly do. DOFP is the bridge that ties it all together. Xavier knows Wolverine and he knows about some of the stuff that happened in X1-3. That's an underlying driving force for him that gives context to his motivation to form the Xmen and potentially right wrongs he made in the original timeline. Amazing Spiderman to the upcoming MCU Spiderman is a reboot. The Xmen franchise has only had one series of films

I call it a reboot since it still erased trilogy,origins-although like last stand few cared, and the wolverine.now we have characters showing up sooner or later than they did.that is reboot to me.

Singer already hinted they may ignore future ending of DOFP in future.if that happens especilly since it's very obvious they are going to redo phoenix in future that makes claim DOFP wasn't reboot even more of strech.

X-Men it seems are formed because of apocalypse not because of time travel mission In DOFP.

Depends how you look at it i guess, the new star trek films are kinda seen as a reboot but spock prime connects it to the original movies so its not a full reboot as such.

nutrek films can be seen as taking place in alternate universe spock prime and the romulans of trek 2009 came from. It's heavily rumored the new CBS trek streaming show is set In exsisting trek universe.prime universe if you will.

DOFP itself says onscreen the last 50 years including trilogy, and most of origins and the wolverine would be erased.Singer says it In interviews and on DOFP audio commantary.
he even said to collider he rebooted his own films.

and point remains very doudtful fox does X-Men cinematic universe without wolverine ever as member of X-men.especilly since most of jackman's time has been erased.
Even if you go they had to happen for dofp time travel erasing to happen they still were erased.I still find it naive to think they won't recast after wolverine solo film.
even if they don't use the comic ending of Dark phoenix to keep future endong of DOFP and wolverine solo film In contunity that requires at some point wolverine joining the
X-men.nowadays studios don't believe in even waiting for long before rebooting.Batman and james bond recasted before rebooting.it will be same for wolverine.

I don't think they're obscuring him because it's a new actor. It would be too soon and come off as too odd since Hugh Jackman has another Wolverine film soon after this - it would give off almost a George Lazenby vibe of needing a guy in-between Sean Connery for whatever reason. If there weren't plans for a Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie coming after this then, definitely I can see it. But, since there is, as said it would just feel like a George Lazenby situation.

I think they're hiding him because of an awesome easter egg they have in store:

It's the Weapon X facility from the looks of it. We've never seen the Weapon X headwear before on the silver screen.

The events of the first ten Star Trek films didn't even lead to an alternate timeline (Star Trek 2009).... unlike Days of Future Past which someone just said, it served as a bridge from the original timeline to the new timeline.

James Bond and Batman are different to X-Men.... Batfleck was another reboot and didn't tie itself to previous Batman movies.... while recasting James Bond already happened like five times when Daniel Craig was cast. There are so many factors in recasting Wolverine and replacing Wolverine.

Of course jackman will be replaced as wolverine at some point.

Wolverine Is most popular character of X-men.he was long before hugh jackman played him.he was one x-man who could consently sell his own books as well as X-Men team books.

as far as contunity goes time travel In DOFP erased much of jackman's time as wolverine leaving only The kid Wolverine scene and war montage in Origins, The Nagasaki bombing scene in The Wolverine, FC cameo, and DOFP In 1973 as far as contunity goes.

Fixed.

I love the Weapon X reveal and him going all berserker rage mode on the soldiers was prefect. His connection with Jean was a nice foreshadowing.

Props to Jackman coming back, Even though he doesn't get to say a single line.

this was a spot on point, like waaaaaaaay spot on

I loved that moment, absolutely loved it, it was finally done right.

Yeah, I thought it looked great too. They even got his hair right.

First time Stryker has seemed genuinely threatening since X2, honestly.

i thought he looked a little silly when i first see him but thats because i thought they were gonna give him the full helmet with visor thing but didn't happen

The entire Weapon X sequence was a waste of time and didnt need to be in this film. It served no purpose other than to shoehorn Wolverine into the film. You could have cut it all out and it would have no impact on the plot.

I think Stryker's involvement and the Alkali Lake sequence could have been handled better, but I'm glad they addressed what happened to Wolverine after Days Of Future Past. Fans were questioning how he got his adamantium back after the events of The Wolverine, so I can't imagine the stream of complaints had they left his arc completely unresolved.

True. But I look at it as a way to rectify that joke of an interpretation from "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." To this day it's still irked me.

Weapon X is supposed to be one of the most defining moments of the Wolverine character and that version from that movie treated it like an afterthought. He stabbed two guys and walked out the door...really?

Granted we didn't get a full sequence here but in my mind, THAT is how I always imagined Logan escaping Stryker and Alkalai Lake. Not that bs version from Origins.

Agreed. I wasn't impressed nothing that we haven't seen before, at all.

The all theme of the movie is lost of control, how does it not serve purpose? When right after the girl who has the most power calm the beast gone crazy?

I just think they could have use that time to develop the other horsemen and then
let everyone, or at least the people that knew Havok, grieve about his death and have some them sort of attack plan to Apocalypse and save Xavier. I also hated the nuke scene. The government people were just in their office doing nothing. Totally unnecessary. Plus it would have been cool to see them how are they gonna find Apocalypse right after the mansion exploded. I just don't know how they are gonna get a jet and battle suits.

Glad they allowed us to have jackman as wolverine one last time In X_men films.really hate last film with him is solo wolverine film.
