Did he need to be there? No.

Was this basically me for that entire scene anyway?

Of course it was.

So yeah, I’m cool with the cameo. :oldrazz:

True. But I look at it as a way to rectify that joke of an interpretation from "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." To this day it's still irked me.

Weapon X is supposed to be one of the most defining moments of the Wolverine character and that version from that movie treated it like an afterthought. He stabbed two guys and walked out the door...really?

Granted we didn't get a full sequence here but in my mind, THAT is how I always imagined Logan escaping Stryker and Alkalai Lake. Not that bs version from Origins.

Agreed, it was finally done right, as an action scene it was damn cool as well. Both me and my friend uttered the word "awesome" under our breath during it.

Well I definitely liked his moment with Jean, with the giving some memory. That was nice in a not so very nice scene. I cannot wait for Wolverine 3 :ilv:

I like that it established an earlier connection between him and the X-Men (and more specifically Jean) as opposed to him meeting them completely for the first time like in X1. It also shows Jean's natural compassion and general goodness. And Wolverine got to be here and cool, without taking over the entire film.

Was it complete and utter fanservice, yes. Was it needed, no not really. Did I mind it, no I didn't.

The Alkali Lake sequence was kinda necessary to show Jean, Scott and Kurt working as a team for the first time and bonding. I don't think we needed to have Wolverine/Stryker in the film besides being awesome fanservice, set up for future films as well as rectifying Origins, but it's connected to a vital character beat for a few of them.

So yeah, I would've figured out an entirely different way of showing Scott's budding leadership without Alkali Lake considering the final product. If everyone else were properly developed, sure we can have Wolverine there. But considering how others got shafted...eh.

I thought it was creepy! It was like wow, this is the moment he fell in love with a 16 year old girl. I cringed at her caressing his face while he stood there shirtless staring at her.

Pointless, pointless sequence for sure. I was looking forward to this going into the film. I had a pretty solid belief it'd be Weapon X and I was sure that I'd like this even if I didn't like the film.

Botched in my opinion. The foreshadowing dialogue was terrible, Jackman's reveal and first lunge was poorly shot and lame. The costume and direction made it feel less intense, and finally the shot of Logan scampering off into the woods was oddly amusing.

It was as pointless as it could be, but I wouldn't have minded that if the sequence was good.

If you took that as romantic, that was creepy. But it's clearly not, he was lost and was just trying help him. I've seen the movie twice, there was nothing freaky going on there. Reminded me a little of the comics when the Hudsons found him and Heather calmed him down when he freaked out over the claws.

it was fanservice for their fans. Jean and Logan can never be but this moment was thrown in there as another tease and its been done to death in all forms of media. And besides, if were to ever see both characters in the present, he would be attracted to her and that would have had its origins from the moment they shared here

OK, if you want to keep it creepy....

It still wasn’t, though.

I found the hacking and slashing scenes lame. Singer isnt very good with combat. Wolverine should be at his most feral and unhinged here but it paled in comparison to the Tokyo scene in The Wolverine. And in that scene he was losing his powers! That should tell the tale. The very first beat of action where Wolverine lunges at the soldiers with obvious, cartoonish wirework set the tone for the rest of this underwhelming scene.

There was no hint of romance in that scene and Wolverine was like in a state of confusion with his surrounding so no to what you are saying.

Ugh, why did we need another Wolverine bloodbath in this?

That would have been a good moment to show the other X-Men growing into their powers and working as a team, but no, we needed Wolverine to inadvertently save the day.

Why so much hate for Wolverine? He's the most popular Xman, and was so even before the movie franchise started.
I'm just curious to know how they intend to include a recast Wolverine into this franchise. Seriously, how can the Xmen go on without having Wolverine involved???

they won't / can't recast Wolverine while we are still tied to the Singer verse.

so, instead, they will do a work around and introduce female Wolverine aka X-23.

I think that's what they will do to continue having a Wolverine like character without replacing Jackman.

Meh, not looking forward to a X23 character. Maybe the younger audience just doesn't like Wolverine as much, I guess?

or maybe they are tired of the same character and same actor playing the role for 16-17 years.

but I really think they will go the X 23 route to replace the character without replacing Jackman.

I mean. it's entirely possible they could recast Wolverine. And I'd welcome that. I want someone who's more appropriate height wise.

but when they recast the younger versions of the other characters, they chose not to do so with Jackman. of course, the character can kind of get away with looking the same. but, if there were going to recast, that would have been the time to do it.

What's wrong with continuity? Jackman has been a great Wolverine. yeah, i agree, they should go with someone closer to his comic size, but hasn't Marvel even changed that based on Jackman's portrayal?

^ has Marvel made Wolverine taller?

I don't follow Marvel comics much, so I don't know. I certainly hope not.

I know he's still listed at 5'3" on the official Marvel bio page and on the Marvel wiki.

Wolverine should never be a tall character. being short is part of his character and makes him unique amongst male comic characters.

there are plenty of tall 6 feet and above male characters. ;)

I always find X-23 as a knock-off of Wolverine... from Evolution to the comics... and then they are introducing her in the movie series right after Hugh's last film as Wolverine.... eh. In my opinion, instead using their time and developing this female Wolverine, they could just use that time/effort to develop underdeveloped characters or someone we haven't seen before.

which is exactly what she is....someone we havent seen before. If X-force is set to be a reality, she is a natural choice. Being a founding member of the modern incarnation, she fits in perfectly, especially with Wolverine gone. She also fills in that female quota

She'd appearing as Wolverine 2.0 or the female Wolverine, she's totally not someone we haven't seen before.

has she been in any previous film? No, therefore she would be someone new. Being linked to Wolverine doesnt change that. And she's not merely a female Wolverine. There is alot more nuance to her. Do I trust Fox to get her right? Not really but thats bc they've screwed up so many other characters

however, his part was decreased in part because it stole some of the spotlight from Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique
LMAO! To his credit, Im glad they didnt go with that original plan. As much as I dislike her, Wolverine stepping in as leader would have made even less sense than Mystique and it would have taken away from the film to insert him with a larger role than he had
