Human Target

I take this with a grain of salt. I hope this is the case though. Basically two weeks of two hour episodes during January and then it goes back to one hour with new episodes starting 1/26. Hope this means they are ordering more episodes. I hope one of those 2 hour sets is a Baptiste episode.

I'm not going to get my hopes up too high since the premiere ratings were kind of soft, but fingers crossed.

They're just burning through the 13 episodes. Maybe if the post Idol shows do well enough it will earn an episode order for the summer or Fridays with Fringe after Kitchen Nightmares is done.

Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 26:

8:00-9:00 PM AMERICAN IDOL
9:00-10:00 PM HUMAN TARGET (All-New Episodes)

Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 16:
8:00-10:00 PM AMERICAN IDOL (Two-Hour Episodes)

Wednesdays, beginning April 6:
8:00-9:30 PM AMERICAN IDOL (90-Minute Episodes)
9:30-10:00 PM BREAKING IN (Series Premiere)

Fox announced their mid-season line-up and I couldn't believe this:

The two extra scripts they ordered probably help fill these two weeks.

I can't decide if the American Idol lead in is a good thing or not. Huge audience, sure. But I doubt it's the right demographic.

Here you go.

Shows coming off the schedule early next year include "Lie to Me" and "Human Target." Beckman said both could return with original episodes next summer.

I think the American Idol lead in did help it previously and it also helped 24 back in the day.

Shifty, I think that's to be expected since only 15 episodes were ordered this season for Human Target. Not sure how many for Lie To Me. But I hope the shows will do well enough to stick around. I don't mind shows getting summer airings. If it means more Human Target, I'm all for it.

Finally got around to watching the episode.

It's hard to put into words, but although all the right elements were present, I didn't feel like they clicked. I think a major part of that is the change in musical-style, but it's probably the fact that in order to re-introduce three characters and introduce two new characters plus resolve the story from last season, the episode felt rushed.

I'm hoping that next week will be much better now that the new status quo is established.

I also think that the special thing about Guerrero last season was that everyone knew he was badass without having to show outright what he did to get results. He was also used sparingly. I hope that the new showrunner understands how to utilise him without oversaturating the program.

Liked Guerrero punching the girl. Liked the Winston-Chance banter. Liked the idea behind Chance disappearing to Nepal.
Didn't like the slow-motion stuff or the pop songs. Really didn't like the new theme music.

The new music is terrible. It's not bringing a new, unique style to the show or anything, it's just bad.

The episode itself was all right. Not among the show's best, but not bad. They dealt with Bearded Lassie too quickly, though. They couldn't have given us an actual episode devoted to dealing with him and getting the team back together? Throwing it in at the beginning made it feel really rushed.

Finally got around to season premiere, decent episode even if it was a little rushed.

I have no issues with the two additions, both Ladies are beautiful and different enough to add a good extra dynamic to the leads, hopefully they are developed properly.

Next weeks ep looks very good - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUIfVFuO2FY

I assume that in order to bring in new viewers, they didn't want too much baggage left over from last season, so that the new episode would be an easy jumping on point.

However, in that case, why not simply ignore the cliffhanger entirely, start the season with Chance in Nepal, and come back to the story at a later date once the new viewers have been filled in on Chance's backstory?

I remember reading that they wanted this season to shift some focus from the action to the character develeopment, so why ignore a season's worth of build-up of Chance's past and how it affected him?

Ah dammit! I'm not used to it being back and forgot all about it tonight. :cmad:

No spoilers! I'm gonna watch it the second Fox or whoever streams it.

Good episode tonight. Though I don't like how the two new female cast members are being written in such an annoying voice. Maybe the writers meant to do that or they cannot write strong female leads well enough ... or maybe it is the actresses fault.

Really enjoyed last night's episode. The new season reminds me why Guerrero is one of my favorite characters. One minor complaint - I'm not really feeling the new theme song. Much prefered the old one.

Is it me, or has Valley trimmed off about 15 pounds between the seasons?

Anyway, watched the episode today. Good stuff. The show definitely feels...grittier, I guess is the word I'm looking for. And that's not a bad thing, because the season finale changed everything. Even Chance is different now, and the show reflects this change. But, under everything, it's still the same show.

One thing I noticed in both episodes is it being pointed out that Chance believes he deserves to die, whereas last season, he kept insisting no one deserves to die. And this doesn't bother me because, in season 1, I think Chance, not only did secretly believe he deserved it, but was really trying to convince himself he didn't.

Now, he still believes it, at least for other people, but he's accepted that he believes he does, and is looking for the redemption so he no longer feels that way. I just wonder how long it'll take before he realizes that redemption can only come from within, or if he realizes it now, but doesn't believe it's enough.

Also, the new theme is slightly more bearable after repeated listenings. At least the first part before it picks up pace and becomes a mess of random noise. And while I do miss Bear's music during the episode, the new music doesn't bother me much at all. It fits in rather well with the new feel of the show.

For everyone still missing the original theme...

I like the second episode. Overall I'm still digging the show. I think Varma is a great addition to the cast. I'm still not digging Ames that much. She's hot and everything, and some of the bits with Guerrero weren't bad, but she just comes off as annoying and LOOK AT ME.

This was a great little story where Chance directly faces a victim of a past job. I like that Chance didn't make excuses about it. Even when it was revealed that the guy he killed wasn't exactly a choir boy. The lady's husband clearly did not have the best intentions with the material he composed as he was trying to sell it to shady nefarious people and he was planning on dumping his wife once the money was ready. Its also possible he was cheating on his wife with all those secret accounts and sources of income. But the point is, Chance doesn't even use that as an excuse for the guy's wife. Because its still unforgivable. And telling the wife wouldn't make her feel better or really fix the situation. Chance sees that for the woman it is better believing the lie. Learning the truth about her husband could've been even more devastating.

I think the other good thing about this episode is that Ilsa sees what a truly honorable and man of integrity Chance has become.

Like that we got to see Carmine chilling in the new digs this week.

Winston got some action this week AND we got to see him trying to deal with the new equipment.

Also I like all the fancy new toys. This is a good element to add to the show. Makes it a little more like Mission Impossible and James Bond. Chance is sort of like an American James Bond.

So it dropped from the first episode of the season...

Im really glad this show survived the TV show hit squad

If its ratings don't pick up, it'll just be on the chopping block again. The show had a 3.5 when it debuted last winter, now it's down to 1.4?!?! FOX is already positioning the show in such a way as to orchestrate its failure. The only reason it isn't languishing on Friday nights is 'cause of the Lone Star cancellation.

I enjoyed the last ep, as TVO says it was a good story that didn't take it too easy on Chance except writing in that the guy wasn't exactly a good guy, but it didn't excuse what Chance did.

The action sequence where the assassin chases Chance and Rachel down the car park was awesome!

That really was one of the best action sequences I've seen on a network show in a good long while. And it just makes the fact that more people aren't watching the show, that much more frustrating!

Yeah it might've just been the best I've seen (don't watch a lot of network tv, though). The stunt coordinator must be a parkour fan.

I think the series overall has had some of the most interesting and refreshing action sequences to date. The action scenes are familiar to what we have seen before but they are given new little twists.

I really don't see why this show isn't getting more viewers. It doesn't have a complicated backstory and its viewer friendly. Yet crap like Desperate housewives is doing great. :(

Eh who knows. It sucks but a lot of good shows get ignored a lot.

I like the first two episodes so far, but the two new additions aren't doing it for me yet. Mrs. Pucci works in the sense that she's the benefactor, but I don't really care for her as the woman who pushes her way onto dangerous missions. I'd like her best as just sitting back and getting reports from the team while questioning if she approves of their methods. Her exchange in the car with Winston was hilarious though. "If you weren't my boss I'd shoot you." :hehe:

Ames right now just seems like she's there for comic relief and extra estrogen. The show was funny enough without her, and she annoys me.

While I really dug the first season the past few episodes haven't really interested me. I think it has something to do with the new cast members, and the show feels like it's trying to be funnier, so I'm finding myself kind of stareing at the screen wondering who on staff thought such and such joke would be funny.

I'll stick around for the whole season, but I getting the same feeling that I have with Chuck where if it got canceled now I wouldn't really mind. Hopefully the episodes will pick up and I'll get into the show again.

Would like to see the old intro return too.

YES! Baptiste is back next week!
