Hype TV Club does Game of Thrones in February!

Yeah, give it time. He's gonna do some far worse s*** as it goes along.

Yep, Joffrey wasn't the most hated character right out of the gate. He had to earn that title, lol.

Dana Brody is the only character that challenged Lori's title as my most hated tv show character. If Joffrey makes it to that level then he's going to have me raging like Jim Ross.

Well...you're talking about two different kinds of "hate," though. Joffrey was so hated because he was supposed to be - the writers/actor did their job extremely well. Lori was so hated because she was terribly-written, imo.

I'm gonna do dis too.

I think that Lori was written to be someone you hate. In the comics she was pretty much one of the main people you're supposed to hate. Kinda like Carol's husband who shall always remain Carol's husband because I refuse to remember his name. Dude was turrible turrible, but Kirkman did a good job. Lori was like that too. Now Andrea was a botch big time. In the comics she's awesome incarnate, but the show just poorly wrote her. If they wanted a hatable female character done right they could have looked at Sherri Palmer from 24. She was someone you were supposed to hate, and she was damn good at it instead of just being in the way.

So far though the characters in Game of Thrones are built to be *******s in an ******* world. It's why I'm rooting for whatever is in the forest to come kill everyone.

I expect White Walkers to be scary as ****.

Ugh, they did Andrea so dirty on that show. But yeah, I guess what I meant was, Joffrey is a villainous character who people hated for his villainy, while Lori was a "good guy" who was hated for being a terrible "good guy."

And yeah, rooting for the things beyond the Wall might not be such a bad idea, haha.

4 episodes in and I'm pretty confused af, but I guess I get the broad strokes of everything.

I will say, this is by far the best version of Quicksilver yet! Dude an a-hole.

Yeah the first season is pretty confusing mostly because you have to keep up with the names and the backstory.

who?

edit: oh, you mean Viserys.

Yeah, Pietro! What a tool.

Viserys needs to die a horrible death.

As for being confused, Im not really, Maybe giving/using nicknames makes it easier?

When I was watching season 1 (and sometimes 2) I had the wiki open in case if I forget who they were talking about.

I'm scared to do that. I did that once for Arrow when I was binge watching S1, and got a season 2 spoiler the very second I landed on the wiki page.

Yeah, that's even more dangerous with GoT than with Arrow, I would think, as the spoilers in this show are kind of...bigger, lol. And I think at least one of them could actually spoil your enjoyment of some scenes.

Please don't do this till your 2nd viewing or at least till after you're finished as you're bound to get spoiled. I watched the whole thing in a few days but still managed to spoil the main events by googling in between that time (some early episode guides are pathetic in that they spoil future episode events within their own notes and trivia). I also told my sister to avoid doing it for the same reason and she did the most innocent thing that still led to being able to figure out who dies and who doesn't. Just watch it all as fast as you can without researching till after. ;)

Yeah, see I figured. Thanks.

We talked about this in the Skype call last night, but I forgot to put it here. I finished season 1, and this is one of the biggest tv show disappointments I've seen in a long time. I was so hyped to watch this, but I'm struggling to think of one part of the show that really did it for me on a consistent basis. My favorite part of the show is Tyrion, but he's not someone that I'd straight up tune in every episode just to see what he does. Kane was telling me about how Jon Snow gets better, and I was intrigued by him. I'm going to give the show another shot by watching all of season 2, but if it's not better by then I'm done.

Despite what Asteroid-man says, I'm not going to sit down and watch this **** for four seasons to see if it finally appeals to me in season four. Ain't nobody got time for dat. I love political intrigue, but I don't really want to meh my way through something I'm not feeling for that one moment. You kids are crazy. I'm an old man now. I can't be doing this stuff.

And for the love of the holy Mike Tyson does the fight scenes in this show suck. All that talk about badassary, and this just failed. Hopefully that gets better in season 2.

Well, I just caught up with episode 3, and this may have been my fav ep so far. I like how the different story threads are developing; Tyrion is really growing on me. In the first episode, I thought he was just as big of an a-hole as the other Lannisters, but he seems like a stand-up guy to me now. He speaks his mind and doesn't take crap from anyone. Also, Jon Snow, just gushgushgush full stop. And the Dothraki/Targaryen scenes in every episode so far have been something I look forward to. They do seem a bit disconnected from the central storyline, but I'm curious at how it will join up with the other characters in the long run.

I love Arya's swordfighting teacher, he's awesome! I'm glad to see that Ned approved of training for his daughter, but in that final shot it does seem that he's got great dread for the possibility that Arya might see actual battle one day. I'm scared for Benjen going into the territory of the Wildlings and the Whitewalkers. :csad: Also the older Mormont serving on the Wall, could he be the father of the Mormont who's assisting Danaerys?

There were fight scenes in S1? I don't even remember, lol.

Sorry you're not enjoying it E-Man, but in all honestly, I doubt you will like S2 much more. I personally don't think the Jon Snow on the show ever got particularly interesting (the one in the books, yeah, but that's a different story). But at least S2 introduces my favorite "player" in the Game and has the first real battle of the show, so that's something worth a look.

It's okay. I look at it as a win-win. If I don't like season 2 I'm going to whup Kane's ass. If I do like season 2 I'm going to whup Kane's ass. Either way it goes somebody gon' get their ass kicked. Somebody gon' get their wig split.

In serious notes. I was hoping against the odds

Ned would live somehow
But alas. Not that kind of show

I mean, the fact that [blackout]he was played by Sean Bean should have given you a clue.[/blackout] :oldrazz:

But yeah, as you said, not that kind of show. That moment might as well be the mission statement for what kind of show it is, lol.

Wow, never thought I'd see someone say that! To be honest mate if you've watched all of Season 1 and didn't like it I don't think it's going to be your thing after Season 2 or however much of a chance you want to give it. I think Season 1 shows enough of why the show is good that people who aren't into it by the end of it have already given it a fair enough shot. Although it does get better. :yay:
