I Am Doom....discuss me [merged-2]

I have to point out again that in Doom's first appearance in FF#5, he was wearing pants......

A lot of you weren't around at the time to see it but Jack Kirby took several tries before the character evolved into the look we all know today. So the movie is really tracking the same way Doom's look developed in the comics.

BTW, I scanned another picture in from that souvenier magazine and Movie Doom is looking pretty good here to me...it's from Jose Fernandez's original design and I don't think there is much variance in the final version.

Friend Herr Hogan,

Let's just focus on questioning the decisions made by Fox in regard to Doom's characterization and drop the feuding between posters. Quite honestly, I think everyone has done overtime in making their point and it is becoming rather redundant. Maybe it is because I have about 18 nieces and nephews of varying ages that I have babysat over the years that has endowed me with a bit more patience than you. You will learn in time if you have a family. Some of the fans of Julian McMahon just don't get the same consideration around here as the Jessica Alba or the hordes of Ioan fans who quite frankly just are following their fave's career and are just by chance getting interested in the FF. As someone who has recently become a fan of his and has been a Doom fan for a whole lot longer I don't feel quite as intimidated by all this back and forth but others might. They may look at this as a way of putting the blame on him for something that is way beyond his control. Let's cut them a little slack so they can get a little vicarious thrill out of their guy's first major film.

Enough lecturing from me.... Now let's have some fun insulting the suits instead. :D

I can't stand his movies... I really can't. I tried to sit through 10 minuits of Romeo and Juliet, didn't make it past ten minuits... and I couldn't even leave Moulin Rouge on in the background from being too lazy to turn the channel from having it on HBO from the last movie that was on while I was doing other things. I mean, besides certain West Hollywood types, who exactly is it that these movies are supposed to appeal to? WTF type of attempt at being "artsy fartsy" as opposed to being of true artistic value, would possess these studios to warrant a release of such types of films? By type of films, I mean blatantly bad films.... wastes of good plastic, good film, good energy. good money and everything that gets consumed in order to create them? What's even worse.... WTF business does Kevin Feige have even speaking the words, "Silver Surfer" to Baz Luhrman?
It's crap like this^^ that causes otherwise valued fans to rant and rave over things like movie DrDoom and the ruination of such other characters that many people have been waiting for to make their glorious entrance to the big screen. Instead, they shovel in their versions of them and... there's just no damn excuse!
BTW,
IM, I've got plenty of more love in store for these suits to go around..:D

Iron Maiden, carissimo,

thanks for the amazing images. I just have to say that I was aware of Doom's many outfits, including those pants. I am a great admirer of Kirby's work, but even you use the expression "several tries" till the character gets his nowadays look. I do think the drawing you nicely showed us is one of these tries.

Considering that the movie comes after years of experiments, I suppose it is fair enough to say that everybody knows how he should look, and I suppose it doesn't include pants, nor excludes armour.

Anyway, I don't have a dislike towards Doom's costume in the movie: I think everybody liked very much the mask, the hood and other details straight from the comics, all very well done. I am somewhat concerned about how they dealt with the character, but still waiting until I see it.

Again: very nice pics. :ff:

Three weeks?? Don't you think it might be a little weighted for such a small offense? Also, the three weeks would take him well pass the opening of this movie (and the review period following wouldn't be the same without him). Maybe a week would be a more suitable fine? :)

Childish insults? Hardly, Mr. Logan has made nothing but true statements about the people's characters who he insults!

Ahh I'm just kiddin' :D

But seriously, sometimes its hard to remain in the best fo moods whenever people say "Fanboy" in a very negative sense, constantly.

i think we need to stop talking about it all together....no one here is moderator except Para.....if HL has a problem he will take it up w/ him.....and get back to the subject at hand....DOOM....

and might i say i hope that we do get to see some of these recently posted pics of Doom in the future....very cool pics....

He does make some very good posts but honestly he ends up ruining it with childish name calling.

Herr is articulate, he is smart and he has been here for a while. He knows better than that.. to throw that type of remark.

His period of probation is set. He will return on 7-21-05 @ 7 pm EST.

If he wants to post a review up, he can pm me and I will post it up for him.

However, this childish namecalling would not occure without outside parties, prodding him into it. It doesn't really make a lot of sense to me, that he's the only one getting punished...

Fair enough, Paradoxium. I just think the ban was a little excessive but I will respect your decission and drop the subject. You have always been very fair on this board and it is what it is. Thanks for the reply.
