I think it have been a better idea to save Doom for a sequel and have a lesser FF foe fill this role (heck Mad Thinker already seems like something of a hacker, I remember him setting up dummy e-mail accounts under false names in the 90s). Plus going straight to Doom again seems too much like what they did with the 2005 film.

Though I suppose in this film, Doom will have to trade in his armor for a Cheetos stained Thundercat shirt.

Oh sure, but I still maintain if they made some other FF foe a hacker, like Wizard or Mad Thinker, there would be far less complaining against that decision. Mainly because a lot of the non Doom and Galactus villains do not have much in the way of good characterization or stories where they are something besides a plot device (I argue Wizard's "best" story, the one where he brainwashes the Thing, is him as a plot device rather then an actual compelling character).

Using a lesser foe in a new role, like Wizard or Mad Thinker, would have generated far less controversy, then placing Doom in this role and making him lesser.

Okay, I *love* this news, if only because the reactions have been utterly hilarious.

This movie sounds like warmed-over ass. If they somehow manage to make something interesting, I have a feeling that it'll just be a sequel to Chronicle with the FF characters. Which is just sad.

But y'all's reactions are giving me The Life!
