We were discussing that synopsis 5 or 6 days ago, but now that it's being revived. . .

. . . Yeah, absolutely terrible. I won't pay a dime to see a film even close to that. Complete crap and not the Fantastic Four in any way.:csad:

1000% agree....and for us to say that, it's pretty bad!

"Doom finds out that the four have acquired powers and becomes angry it's not him"

The world has yet to see just how great a character Doom is.

And now they're getting 'Victor Domashev'

The general audience will always think that Dr Doom is either an anti-social programmer/blogger or a smarmy business man who doesn't create his own powers but just gets them as part of the accident that created the FF.

I don't like the rumored plot but it could probably work as a film. Doom seems about right in the film and parts of the Ben Grimm plot seem okay. In the comics its kinda odd he's the only one who couldn't turn it off like the others. Its like in the Avatar series where other benders have to have that element present for their power to work except fire benders. You could accept as this is how their universe works but when someone changes it, that makes some sense.

Doom seems about right? So, apart from a few superfluous details, Doom is essentially what we've been getting in the comics and, as an anti-social programmer and blogger, he's not far off from the classic character at all?

Don't you know?

That's Victor Domashkanovastoshki. :o

The Victor Von Doom from the classics just doesn't work on the big screen. Works much better as a handsome rich business man or a social network blogger. Can't wait for the next reboot by FOX. What will Victor Von Dong be next?

A plumber who fixed Richard's toilet but didn't get paid. So he gets his revenge by destroying the plumbing in the Baxter building

don't mess with The Shev or he'll write mean things about you in his blog!

And incase you didn't know, the name of his blog is Latveria.

I definitely understand why fans are miffed, but I think this still has the chance to look appealing come release time. A cool young cast and the awesome FF powers all over the trailers and TV spots... even if it's instantly labeled as the FF in name only, a loose adaptation doesn't equal a bad movie (I guess this is where not being a hardcore FF fan pays off). I'm pretty curious to take a look at that trailer.

Cool young cast (including an award winning young actress)? Powers present in the trailer? Loose adaptation? I think I can give you a preview of that trailer.

I actually like Dragonball Evolution but for my own personal reasons lol. In no way is it a good film or a faithful or even worthwhile adaptation.

This says it all.

Awesome FF powers like Reed's intelligence you mean?

I seriously doubt this will look appealing at all.

I kinda can't wait to see this trainwreck. Of course my money will be going to another movie playing in the theater at the same time. A non-Fox movie, naturally.

"Nothing can stop DOOM!.... except for Facebook's new real name policy."

Not the best example, though, is it. DBE was bad for different reasons than just being a loose adaptation and I'd call Josh Trank a more interesting talent than the other director. Plus, that was adapting an anime and there was the issue of whitewashing and cultural depictions. This is adapting a US comic book with a US cast.

This says it all.

Does it? Nobody really knows how well told this new story is, maybe there's more to a movie than just adhering to its source material. It doesn't begin and end with comic book accuracy. Believe me, it's not easy for me to advocate for this kind of stuff because if it were happening with my favorites I'd be singing a very different tune, I'll admit that. But it doesn't make me less intrigued. I've had an eye on this film since the beginning and I like the pieces involved.

I swear if they get to his costume by him being a larper or something...I'm done.

Not adhering to the source material 100%, 90%, or even 50% is not at play here. Your argument is one that has been made since we thought that at least the storyline might follow somewhat. What we have now is a project that looks nothing like the art in which it was supposed to be based, and if the plot plays out to be true, the story line sounds nothing like the literature it was supposed to be based upon.

The only thing that "it might have" is the name, and funny......it has even been said that they won't be called the "Fantastic Four"...so that might well be lost as well.

To be honest, I did not want them to do an origin story that was 100% set to that of the comics. AND I was one to "not exactly" like the UFF, but wasn't all that surprised if they went that direction. I'm an MK Fantastic Four fan myself, which this project is about as far from as it is 616 FF. Throwing in words like Negative Zone, Doom as his SN, the Storms, Baxter Building, etc....does not make any of this ok. Using those names and coming up with a TOTALLY different characterization of the four, as well as the, what some believe to be, the greatest villain in the history of comics is not going to make long time fans of this comic happy IN ANY WAY.

I came in to the 2005 movie as a fan of some of the actors, as well as Saturday Morning TV series, not the comic, and I thought it strange that "purists" were so vocal. I don't EVEN COME CLOSE to equating those unhappy about this project as is, as even close to those purists. BUT DAMN, they do have a reason to be pissed about this project. BIG TIME. So, all I'm saying is, enjoy but duck. :cwink:
