The Amazing Spider-Man I don't know what troubles me more...

Doc Ock after the Clone Sage is still badass, the beating he gave to the Green Goblin was grand :woot: . And the look of those tentacles made out of scrap metal was the best ever, kinda like the movie's ones (especially the claws, heck a cover even had the difference between the lower and higher tentacles's claws).

I haven't read much of the new USM stuff. I'm sure Ock's characterization is still great (heck, he was still written well in the Clone Saga, the idea of making Ock a low-level Magneto was just stupid. I'm sorry, but I hate the idea. I just thought it was a horrible idea. Still do.

I think the characterizations in a lot of the comics and cartoons are great. The trouble for me starts if you turn Ock into an Ice Cream salesmen.

I was exaggerating. Ock in Ultimate was a good character, he just suddenly had Magneto powers. Kraven was a good bad guy in Ultimate, but he was a talk show host. You just don't do that kinda stuff to these characters.

Yeah they did...and they should be punished by death:o

I presume he should graduate High School near the end of the movie, or during the first few scenes of the second movie

I'm pretty sure of two things I want in the new trilogy:
1. Don't use any of the villains Arad/Ziskin/Raimi/Maguire films used, therefore no Hobgoblin
2. Don't let his villains know who Spider-Man is then die

I actually liked USM, I was reading it up to the point when he was dating Kitty Pryde. However I don't really want them to take much if anything from it.

I did like the fact that Peter got his costume from his days as a wrestler, I think that could be interesting to include as it solves the how does this boy know how to sew lol

If they take the road of having a series of movies planned from the beginning, it could be fun to see them take the Ultimate road as far as Peter's secret is concerned. That's one of the big differences with the 616 universe, and one that I like a whole lot.

Should they include the fact that the one who sews it back to shape is often his girlfriend?

really??? its unbelievable that a boy can sew or make an outfit???? Have you been to a Con????
Yes some people are in crappy costumes but there are a lot of people in awesome costumes.

Me personally I dont find it unbelievable that he can make a costume even one as elaborate as the movie one. It was just a suggestion for those that have an issue with it.

And Donyo his girlfriend fixing it up could be interesting but I doubt they'll go the route of other people knowing is identity.

You're on the Hype, dome some searching. A few guys have made replicas of the suit. Damn near Exact. It is perfectly believable

people act like the Raimi spidey suit was encrusted with gems

They do. But if it can be successfully replicated by fanboys, how can you argue that it can't be homemade?

its why we cant get faithful adaptations because everything needs to be explained...why would the government put Cap in a flag suit??? why would Red Skull wear a mask???
Why would Batman run around in a suit instead of armor???

I like how faithful to people on here mean including stuff only that you think is important.

The reason Spidey's suit in the movies is the way it is, is because of the same reason the streets are always wet and lamp lights in interiors are always on (even on broad daylight). It comes across better on screen. Even still, the suit is unbelievably faithful.

Yes and that's alot more important to me than being 'realistic' and having Spidey wear a pajamas!

Success breeds immitation which is the sincerest form of flattery. I think it's only natural for a lot of spidey fans to want him to receive the same "darker, more realistic" nolanized treatment that Batman received. As good of a film as TDK was, it became trendy to praise and admire.

I don't want Spidey to go that route though.

He works better when he is set in a pseudo realistic universe, ya know, one where we can accept the premise that scientists can devise incredible flying contraptions, and grow spare limbs, and devise mechanical arms that are controlled by the mind, and where people bitten by radioactive spiders can develop web fluid and grow to become superhumanly strong, and stick to walls, and jump 90 feet up straight in the air... etc..

Basically, it's the very same reason why setting Green Lantern, or Thor, or Superman in an otherwise completely realistic universe, wouldn't feel believable.

There was no Hobgoblin in any of the three Spider-Man films.
